CASA Holds Successful Fundraiser
The Walker County Fairgrounds was full of patrons attending the CASA Christmas in July fundraiser last Friday evening.

er County held a very successful fundraiser last Friday evening at the Walker County Fair-
grounds. The event dubbed Christmas in July was a bingo event with 10 games of bingo, door priz-
es, raffles, and many other ways to support the organization that supports children. The room
was full of people with daubers in hand just waiting on the announcer to call the number
that they needed for the chance to yell “BINGO”. The suspense would build after a few numbers because the patrons were instructed to stand up at their table when they only needed one number to win. As more numbers were called and more people began to stand, you could hear the grumbling of the ones that were (contd on page 8)
Kim’s Receives Preser vation Award
The renovated and preserved Top O’ The Hill House earned owner Kim Bius the Preservation Award and is the centerpiece of the business.
By Wade Thibodeaux Kim Bius with Kim’s Home and Garden received the Preservation Award from the Walker County Historical Commission for the work performed on the house located at the Top O’ The Hill Farm at 2715 Lake Road last Saturday, July 24, 2021. The
restoration work performed on the house originally built in 1909-1910 is absolutely stunning and is the centerpiece of the business that had to be relocated due to the widening of I-45. Kim’s hosted a “Sip and Shop” event last Saturday with vendors of all (contd on page 9)
