HISD Announces New Principal of Stewart Elementary School
HUNTSVILLE, TX (June 21, 2021) – Huntsville ISD is pleased to announce Shannon Williams as the new principal of Stewart Elementary. Mrs. Williams is a successful veteran educator and leader, having served in public education for 31 years. After gaining experience as a teacher, academic coach and director of the gifted and talented program in her former districts, Mrs. Williams joined the Huntsville ISD team 14 years ago as an instructional coach. She was promoted to assistant principal before being named principal of Scott Johnson Elementary in 2014. Mrs. Williams is replacing Ms. Kimberly Fox who recently resigned. With several leadership changes over the past few years at Stewart Elementary, the hard working staff members, students and families of this campus deserve the stability of
a seasoned leader that is committed to the long term success of their school, district and community. Shannon Williams is this person. Mrs. Williams has long called Huntsville home, and her leadership style has built stability and student success at her current school, known for low staff turnover, high staff morale, satisfied families and a track record of academic improvement. She leaves Scott Johnson Elementary in great shape for the next principal to continue forward, which is one mark of a great leader, as she now focuses her attention on providing the same positive environment for the staff and families of Stewart Elementary. Mrs. Williams will begin her new duties effective immediately and is excited to get to work at her new campus where she will continue Building Champions in Huntsville ISD!
Huntsville Kiwanis Club Challenges Other Service Organizations The Huntsville Kiwanis Club has thrown down the gauntlet and is challenging other local service organizations to match or beat their recent donation to the Robert A.Josey Lodge. During their meeting last Tuesday, June 15, 2021, the Kiwanis Club present-
ed a check for $10,000.00 to the Lodge for their capital campaign for renovations and improvement to the scout lodge. The capital campaign money will insure the scouting building and tradition will continue in Huntsville for a very long time.
HISD Board Approves Hire of New Special Education Director
HUNTSVILLE, TX (June 18, 2021) – During their regular monthly meeting on Thursday, June 17, 2021, the Huntsville ISD Board of Trustees unanimously approved
the recommendation for hire as presented by Superintendent Dr. Scott Sheppard naming Mrs. Ashley Kimich as the new Director of Special Education. Kimich is currently the Special Education Coordinator where she has served the district since the summer of 2018. Kimich will fill the vacancy recently created by Mrs. Kelly Pieterse who is moving to a similar position in another school district
nearer to her family. In her role as Coordinator for the past 3 years, Kimich has proven herself to be a very valuable asset to the district’s Special Education Department. The constant support and guidance she provides all Huntsville ISD campuses has contributed to continuous improvement of education for ALL students across the district. She is a positive and compassionate administrator who is a
key contributor on the District Leadership Team and other district committees. With more than 14 years of various styles of training, professional development, leadership and special education administration, and teaching and learning experience with diverse and special populations of students and young adults, her vast knowledge and expertise in the field of special education (Contd on page 9)
