Gratitude
Mission
The Waldorf School of Lexington provides an arts-integrated academic education. We offer a curriculum rich in the humanities and sciences, as well as practical and fine arts, grounded in the pedagogical principles and methods of Austrian philosopher and educator Rudolf Steiner. Cultivating critical thinking, creativity, and perseverance in our students, we strive to instill an enthusiasm for learning, skills in collaboration, and the confidence to engage in a changing world.
We are proud
to share the many accomplishments achieved by our community from the 2018-19 fiscal year. The time, talent, and generosity of our community members—parents, guardians, faculty, staff, board members, alumni families, and friends—immensely contributes to our continued success. What we did...
2018-2019 Accomplishments Welcomed 41 new students, with our families coming from 13 different cities/towns Exchanged over 1,200 postcards with Waldorf school students from around the world through the Waldorf100 Postcard Exchange Project Attended 28 trainings through our faculty and staff Professional Development Program Integrated Circus Smirkus into our curriculum for a two-week residency Attended two Association of Independent Schools in New England (AISNE) Diversity Conferences, with 16 students and Susan Cody representing our school Read 11 thought-provoking and eye-opening books with our Diversity Book Club Planted over 3,500 pollinator seeds in honor of the 100th Anniversary of Waldorf Education Filmed 3 alumni panels highlighting the accomplishments of our talented and driven graduates! Created and launched: Diversity Mission Statement and Gender Diversity statement and policy Collected and donated over 700 children’s books to the MLK Day of Service in Cambridge (Diversity Book Club) and 295 socks, hats, and gloves (Grade 6) Made 648 sandwiches for the meal program at Christ Church (Grade 8) Welcomed 11 graduates to our alumni family of 631 members Added sinks and cabinets to nearly all of our classrooms through the 2019 Special Appeal Paddle Raise

As we celebrate 100 years of Waldorf education, our community reflects on the many accomplishments and the core tenets of this time-tested approach. We look to the future with a sense of renewal and innovation. In the past year, we have laid the foundation by investing in diversity, equity and inclusion, professional development, educational support enhancements, and identity and marketing. Although we experienced a budget shortfall in 2018-9, the benefits from each of these areas of investment are building momentum for our future. ch
