Winter Family Fun: Simple Joys for the Season Because connection isn’t only captured in portraits—it’s lived in small, beautiful moments.

Here are a few favorite ways to create new memories this winter: •Build a snowman or have a playful snowball “portrait moment.”

•Plan a winter picnic indoors—blankets, twinkle lights, and all.

•Watch old family movies and laugh at the hairstyles.

•Over dinner, have everyone share their favorite memory from the past year.

Our Winter Table Favorites When the days are short and the evenings long, the kitchen becomes the heart of the home. Here are a few of our favorite foods (and recipes)—simple, comforting, and made for sharing.

Creamy White Chicken Chili Warm, hearty, and cozy enough to chase away any chill. Perfect for snow days or slow Sundays and easy for the “cook” to get on the table.

Baked Brie with Honey and Rosemary A little indulgence never hurt anyone. Serve with toasted baguette slices and a touch of sparkle in your glass.

Peppermint Bark A family favorite that’s easy to make and impossible to resist. Let the kids help with this one—it’s pure holiday joy.

Our Winter Table Favorites Recipes Creamy White Chicken Chili Ingredients: •2 cups shredded rotisserie chicken •2 cans white beans (drained and rinsed) •1 cup corn •1 cup salsa verde •2 cups chicken broth •½ cup cream cheese Directions: In a pot, combine all ingredients except cream cheese. Simmer for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add cream cheese and stir until creamy and smooth. Garnish with cilantro and a squeeze of lime. *We like to add sour cream and shredded cheddar on top.

Serve with warm cornbread or tortilla chips for a cozy family night in.

Our Winter Table Favorites Recipes Baked Brie with Honey and Rosemary Ingredients: •1 wheel of Brie cheese •2 tbsp honey •1 tsp fresh rosemary, chopped •Optional: crushed walnuts or pecans Directions: Preheat oven to 375°F. Place Brie on parchment-lined baking sheet. Drizzle with honey, sprinkle with rosemary, and bake 10–12 minutes, until softened and melty. Add nuts if desired.

Serve with apple slices, baguette toasts, or rosemary crackers—and enjoy that first, warm, gooey bite. The perfect bite to serve when family drops by—or when you just need something lovely to pair with a glass of wine by the fire.

Our Winter Table Favorites Recipes Peppermint Bark Ingredients: •12 oz white chocolate chips •8 oz dark or semi-sweet chocolate chips •½ tsp peppermint extract •4 candy canes, crushed Directions: Melt dark chocolate, stir in peppermint extract, and spread thinly on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Chill until set. Melt white chocolate and spread over the dark layer, then sprinkle crushed candy canes on top. Chill again, then break into pieces.

Beautiful in a glass jar, wrapped in ribbon, or simply enjoyed by the fire.

One season fades into the next, and suddenly the little one who once clung to your hand now stands shoulder-to-shoulder with you. These years move quickly, far quicker than our hearts ever expect, which is why holding on to each chapter—intentionally, beautifully, and before it changes again— matters more than we realize.

Now is the perfect time to plan the portraits that will tell your story for generations to come.

Walden’s Photography and Tim and Bev Walden have been part of my family’s lives for almost 30 years. I brought my first child to Tim when she was age 4 to be photographed. We turned that photo into a beautiful oil portrait.

That was the beginning. My next 2 children got their portraits done at age 4 and then again all 3 at age 18.

Over the years, we have had family portraits done also.

Some of my most valued treasures are the beautiful Walden portraits that are hanging in my home. Classic, timeless treasures.
