Whether you've been to Lexington or the central Kentucky area before or if this is your first tine, we're so glad you are here!

Having lived here for most of our lives, we are excited to share a few of our favorite places, activities and meals so you can make the most of your visit.

When we travel, we find it can be difficult to find a reliable source for the "insider" experience we crave. We enjoy doing what the locals do and finding those hidden spots that turn out to be some of the best experiences.

RESTAURANT EXPERIENCES We love good food, good coffee and places that burst with creativity.

BUT FIRST, COFFEE. Brevede is fairly new in a very old place in a very cool area that is being restored, brick by brick. It is called The Distillery District. https://www.brevedecoffee.com/

FOR LUNCH Visit Bella Cafe and Grille for an amazing lunch in an upscale atmosphere.

FOR DESSERT If time allows, you need to visit Martine's Pastries in the downtown area.

WHERE TO VISIT

We love our horses and distilleries.

Kentucky Horse Park

Kentucky Horse Park is a working horse farm, international equestrian competition venue, and an educational theme park opened in 1978 in Lexington, Kentucky. https://kyhorsepark.com/

Woodford Reserve Distillery

The art of making fine bourbon first took place on the site of the Woodford Reserve Distillery, a National Historic Landmark, in 1812. You get that sense of history.

The history of bourbon is the history of Kentucky, is the history of the United States.

There is so much to see here. I have included a link below for you to check them all out. Here are two more personal faves not to miss...the little town of Midway, Ky is a hidden gem that is very close to Lexington with highway access and Old Friends Thoroughbred Retirement Farm which will touch your heart. Midway and this farm are very close together, so be sure to visit both.

WALDEN'S Tim and Bev...

Walden's is one of the premiere portrait studios in the region, specializing in printed wall art and serving clients in central Kentucky and throughout the region.

A second-generation studio, Tim learned the craft of portraiture from his father and Bev joined the team after she and Tim were married.
