City of Kenora

TRANSIT SYSTEM Published November 2017

RULES OF TRANSIT: • Each rider must pay the $2.50 fare for each ride. No fare, no ride.

• No eating or drinking allowed on the bus.

• Please refrain from swearing or vulgar language. Each rider should experience a comfortable ride without inappropriate behaviour from other passengers.

• No animals of any kind. Service dogs are permitted.

• No bikes or mobility scooters allowed.

• No aggressive language or actions against driver or passengers, this includes fighting.

• Stops will only be at designated stops that are included on the transit system route map. No exceptions.

• No smoking or vaping/vaporizers on the bus.

• Please be courteous to other passengers and allow those in need a seat when the bus is full such as seniors or persons who require additional assistance.

All rules will be strictly enforced by Transit staff.

KENORA HANDITRANSIT: HandiTransit operates two lift equipped mini-busses (seating capacity five wheelchairs and four ambulatory passengers), providing service to all areas within City limits.

ELIGIBILITY

RIDER GUIDELINES

Kenora HandiTransit is for those who require help with/or require special transportation, including those who are visually impaired, who have had surgery, fractures – those who have mobility issues in general.

• No smoking permitted in the van • Service is reserved for registered riders • Bookings must be made at least 24 hours in advance • Be prepared and on-time. The van will wait a maximum of five minutes • Ensure entrance/exits at pick-up and drop-off points are accessible • Wheelchair passengers will be required to wear a “wheelchair seatbelt” at all times • Have your fare/ticket ready for the driver when you board the van • If unable to keep booking, notify the dispatch office immediately • No-show policy: if you are not at pick-up point you will be required to pay the full fare • Conduct yourself in a polite and cordial manner while a passenger aboard HandiTransit

Application forms are available at the Kenora Recreation Centre dispatch office or from your medical clinic. Please allow a minimum of one week for application processing.

FARE One-way fare: $5 Attendent one-way fare: $5 Book of 10 tickets: $50 After-hours one-way fare: $10
