Imagine being in the highlands of Guatemala... you look up and see dozens of mountains that are part of one of the world’s largest mountain ranges. A cloak of greenery covers these mountains—these are the coffee forests. These forests allow fresh air to flow for the people in the villages, provide clean water to the rivers, and support a rich biodiversity where deer, bees, and birds all partake in a never-ending cycle of life. Imagine that every day, the people in these villages wake up with hope, knowing that when they take care of the Earth, the Earth will take care of them. This is the dream we have, and Wakami Coffee is helping us see this dream come true.

For over 20 years we have worked with rural women and their families in Guatemala to develop methodologies to help them thrive both individually and in their communities.
Through Wakami Coffee our goal is to bring these methodologies to coffee families throughout Guatemala.
BUSINESS TRAINING
We believe the first step to elevating rural women and communities is to create sources of income by connections to local and international markets. Women with income changes their lives, families and communities.
Our Inclusive Business Methodology teaches women from the most forgotten communities essential business skills including: How to start and run a business Interpersonal Skills Basics on sustainable, quality production

SMART INVESTMENTS
Creating a source of income is only the first step. Our Wakami women struggle to find good choices in their local communities. We have technicians in our villages to communicate directly on how to create a healthy home, what a healthy meal looks like and what it means to invest in your family for long-term health and success. We provided to choices to the women on healthy alternatives that are most important to them.
EDUCATION
Wakami women all have one universal priority: educate their children especially, their daughters. Average school attendance in Guatemala is less than 4 years. Girls are often not sent to school because of machismo culture in their communities. Wakami provides access to scholarship and educational costs for both Wakami children and their parents who want to finish their education.
