I never liked rules or conformity, so working a typical 9-to-5 job was never for me, but when I am passionate about something there is no stopping me. I started my own financial business more than 20 years ago with no financial background and was able to earn a six-figure income in a short period of time—all while I was raising my four children. I know firsthand how it is to run a business, raise children and juggle family commitments, so I run my business—and always have—on my own terms.

My passion has always been centered around helping other people, women in particular. I specialize in teaching women how to

take control of their finances by learning simple financial concepts as well as teaching them critical sales skills and necessary steps and strategies to help them to grow a successful business. I love the saying, “Nobody cares how much you know until they know how much you care.” That’s the difference in being a leader versus being a boss. A boss tells you what to do, a leader shows you how to do it. You have to get in the trenches with people and show them how to do it and help them to believe that they can. I built my business through connecting with people, building relationships and collaborating with other inspirational, like-minded women, which is how I got the name “LynetteWork.” In 2012 I co-founded the Entrepreneurial Think Tank for Women. This enabled me to surround myself with incredible women, whom I learn from every day, and mentor and support more women. I truly have a blast while I do it. I always say that if you truly love what you do and you can make a difference in people’s lives, you will never feel like you are working. I am grateful and feel truly blessed to be able to run a business that still gets me pumped up to get out of bed every morning.

believe women are multi-faceted. We embrace the outer roles of wife, mother, sister, daughter and friend. And we have inner roles as well—those that need to be honored in order to be authentic, productive and truly happy.

We are artists, entrepreneurs, mentors and visionaries. But here’s where it gets challenging.

When we ignore our true selves, we experience self-doubt, anxiety and depression. Like many women, I have experienced such moments through struggles with weight, periods of insecurity and postpartum depression. It was the wisdom of my mother and the connection with other strong women around me that reminded me of how to best honor and nurture myself back to living a genuine, authentic and happy life. I dabbled in styling, art and makeup at an early age—creating jewelry and accesso-

ries at age 9 and mastering a makeup kit at 12. I went on to study design and education in college. Throughout my life, however, writing has been my most important outlet not only to internalize lessons, but also to teach and connect with others.Family, love and an authentic life were the driving tenets of my young life and to this day, these important elements of focus keep me grounded in my own authentic self. I am a student of life and I am committed to teaching others what I have

learned through my experiences. Every day, every person we connect with and everything we experience holds a lesson for all of us; when we share those lessons, we give others permission to be. My mission is to inspire women to live the lives they want, while building a fabulous business they love. I’ve written two books: 5 Steps to Fabulous: Choices for Living Beautifully, Inside and Out! and Social Media Strategies for Small Businesses: A Guide for Solo Entrepreneurs! I am also a lifestyle blogger, the online marketing manager for BELLA New York + Los Angeles magazines, and co-founder of ETTWomen and the ETTWomen Foundation, two organizations that support women entrepreneurs and victims of financial, sexual and domestic violence.
