A NOTE FROM THE JOHNSONS

a note from

the johnsons S

ome things are shaped in an instant. Others are formed over generations. Throughout this issue, we explore the elemental forces behind the world’s finest jewelry and timepieces. Fire transforms precious metals. Water reveals brilliance. Earth provides extraordinary gemstones. Air inspires movement, imagination and innovation. Together, these forces create remarkable pieces—but we believe their true meaning comes from what happens next.

A piece takes on an entirely new meaning when it becomes yours. It remembers the proposal that changed everything, the anniversary worth celebrating, the milestone you never want to forget or the holiday morning when a special box was opened. Over time, these pieces become part of our stories and, perhaps one day, part of the stories of generations to come. For nearly 80 years, Diamond Cellar has had the privilege of being part of those moments. We’ve watched engagement rings become family heirlooms, timepieces mark life’s accomplishments and gifts become lasting reminders of the people and occasions that matter most. That idea is especially meaningful to us because Diamond Cellar has a generational story of its own. What began in 1947 has grown and evolved, but our commitment to craftsmanship, relationships and exceptional service remains at the heart of who we are. As the holiday season approaches, we are reminded of the traditions and relationships that connect one generation to the next. Whether you are celebrating someone you love, marking a milestone of your own or beginning a new tradition, we are honored to be part of your story. The most remarkable pieces aren’t simply made to last. They are forged for generations. From our family to yours, we wish you a joyful holiday season and a wonderful year ahead. Cheers,

Alex Johnson

rooted in community For nearly 80 years, Diamond Cellar has grown alongside the communities we call home. From partnerships with iconic institutions to unforgettable local experiences, we are proud to support the people and places that bring our communities together.

A Wildly Special Partnership Our partnership with the Columbus Zoo reached new heights this year as Diamond Cellar had the honor of naming one of its giraffes and creating a custom, one-of-a-kind brooch for the zoo’s annual Untamed Gala—a celebration of creativity, community and conservation.

Where Buckeyes® Get Engaged Our Ohio State partnership reached a new milestone this year with Diamond Cellar signage debuting inside Ohio Stadium. To celebrate, we’re giving one couple the ultimate Buckeye moment: the opportunity to get engaged on the field at the ’Shoe.

Lights. Camera. Popcorn. This summer, Diamond Cellar kicked off a new partnership with NightLight 614 and 615, bringing us together with our Columbus and Nashville communities for movies under the stars. Of course, no movie night is complete without popcorn—so we added our own touch with custom Diamond Cellar popcorn created just for the occasion.

An Evening In Style Diamond Cellar joined the Nashville Symphony Fashion Show for an evening where fashion, fine jewelry and philanthropy took center stage. We were honored to support this celebrated Nashville tradition and share in a night dedicated to creativity, community and exceptional style.

Raising A Glass Great wine for a great cause. Diamond Cellar was honored to sponsor the Philbrook Wine Experience, joining the Tulsa community for a weekend of exceptional wine and cuisine in support of the Philbrook Museum of Art.

Hats Off To Columbus Diamond Cellar was honored to support Franklin Park Conservatory’s 25th annual Hat Day, a beloved Columbus tradition celebrating fashion, community and philanthropy while raising funds to inspire the next generation.

AT OUR TABLE

at our table Some of our favorite Diamond Cellar moments don’t happen across a jewelry case. They happen around a table. Throughout the year, we have the privilege of bringing together clients, designers, collectors and friends for unforgettable evenings—intimate dinners, extraordinary jewels, beautiful settings and conversations that linger long after the last glass is poured. These gatherings are about more than what we’re celebrating. They’re about who we’re celebrating with. As we enter a season made for gathering, gifting and making memories, we invite you to pull up a chair.

Great art begins with a spark of inspiration. Sometimes it springs from history, from nature, from the rich culture that surrounds the artist— and sometimes from all of these, woven together with a dream. In 1996, Roberto Coin experienced such a dream, one so compelling that it inspired him to establish the jewelry house that bears his name. For nearly three decades, the Roberto Coin brand has cultivated a creative identity rooted in that original vision, where intuition becomes artistry, imagination becomes beauty and every dream dances into reality. The milestone is being celebrated with Meraviglia—Italian for “Wonder”—a breathtaking high jewelry collection, along with an opulent gala in Venice, Coin’s hometown. As Coin reflects, “For me, wonder is never something static. Wonder lives in change, in the ability to look beyond what we have already created. It is in this constant evolution that I find the truest expression of creativity.” That spirit of innovation is woven throughout Roberto Coin’s signature collections.

Celebrate Roberto Coin’s anniversary and explore Love In Verona, its four-petaled flower motif, a homage to the celebrated Italian city. Embrace a shimmering take on heritage with Venetian Princess Carnival, which glows with iridescent mother-ofpearl. Or reach for the delicate Princess Flower, glowing with gold and glittering with the perfect touch of diamond, an ode to feminine refinement and beauty.

david yurman This season, celebrate the ones you love with signature designs from one of America’s most iconic jewelry houses.

When a jewelry house’s story is also a love story, its spirit resonates through every creation—and no brand illustrates that more beautifully than David Yurman. Founded by sculptor David Yurman and his wife, painter Sybil Yurman, the iconic design house has long championed the idea of jewelry as effortlessly wearable art. The iconic Cable motif remains its defining signature, evolved in modern Sculpted Cable designs by David and Sybil’s son, Evan Yurman. Embrace the energy of New York City—the Yurmans’ hometown—with the DY Mercer® Collection, inspired by the creative pulse of SoHo, or Madison®, whose sculptural chain links echo the rhythm and vitality of Manhattan. marco bicego Inspired by the rich colors of India, the Jaipur Color Collection transforms gold and precious gemstones into wearable works of art.

For more than two and a half decades, Marco Bicego has cultivated a design language that is both distinctive and enduring. Sinuous and architectural, harmonious and sensual, each creation is defined by an effortless elegance and a thoughtful use of color that invites both admiration and imagination. This season, color takes center stage in the Jaipur Color Collection. Inspired by the storied city of Jaipur in northern India—renowned for its rose-hued palaces, vibrant bazaars and centuries-old gemstone traditions— the collection pairs luminous gold with an array of vivid gemstones. Topaz recalls the shimmer of water, peridot evokes sunlight filtering through leaves and citrine glows with the warmth of a setting sun. Crafted with the timeless artistry of Italian goldsmithing, each piece is designed to bring a sense of beauty, color and sophistication to everyday wear. Clockwise from top left: 18K Gold and Blue Topaz Necklace; 18K Gold and Blue Topaz Bracelet; 18K Gold and Blue Topaz Band Ring; 18K Gold and Blue Topaz Five-Drop Earrings; 18K Gold and Turquoise Band Ring; 18K Gold and Blue Topaz Band Ring; 18K Gold and Peridot Band Ring; 18K Gold and Citrine Band Ring; 18K Gold and Garnet Band Ring; 18K Gold and Amethyst Band Ring. mikimoto For more than 130 years, the jewelry house has shaped the world of pearls. Today, as we embrace that gem in fresh, versatile ways, Mikimoto remains the gold standard, creating timeless pieces to be cherished for generations.

Since founder Kokichi Mikimoto created the world’s first cultured pearls in 1893, Mikimoto has redefined the world of fine jewelry, transforming pearls from rare treasures reserved for a privileged few into enduring symbols of elegance, craftsmanship and innovation. For more than 130 years, the jewelry house has been pushing the artistry of pearl jewelry to new heights through uncompromising quality and visionary design. Every generation rediscovers and styles pearls in its own way, enchanted by their quiet elegance. Today, the way we wear pearls continues to evolve, as we use a deeply personal lens to create looks that are unexpected and unique. Collections are more than just jewelry—they’re records of a taste refined over time and a celebration of what defines and moves you. Let gemstones in all your favorite colors pop next to a pearl’s gentle luster. Allow diamonds to offer the perfect shimmer for added grace. Combine necklace lengths for a layered look that catches the eye and defines your signature style. On red carpets, Mikimoto continues to stun with high jewelry that celebrates the individual—the same way every pearl celebrates its own uniqueness, no two exactly the same. Celebrities and stylists have embraced layering, with pearl and gemstone bracelets, rings, pendants and necklaces worn in curated combinations that add depth, individuality and sophistication. Actress Emily Blunt recently paired Mikimoto’s Les Pétales Place Vendôme Roses Choker with a dramatic Schiaparelli gown at The Devil Wears Prada 2 premiere. Yet these luminous creations are equally at home with a tailored blazer, crisp white shirt or everyday denim. A balance of timeless craftsmanship and modern styling

defines today’s pearl wardrobe, and Mikimoto has always been the pinnacle of just that— exceptional craftsmanship that transcends trends. Les Pétales Place Vendôme Roses beautifully captures a contemporary spirit. Inspired by flower petals drifting through the breeze, the collection evokes movement and femininity through delicate silhouettes and luminous cultured pearls. Whether worn as a statement or layered with other favorites, these pieces embody the versatility, refinement and artistry that make Mikimoto the definitive name in modern pearl jewelry.

Opposite page: At the 2026 Met Gala, Emily Blunt made her full-body pearl necklace the star of the show; This page, clockwise from top left: Blunt turned heads on the red carpet for The Devil Wears Prada 2; Actress Jenna Ortega adds timelessness to a daring gown with a delicate, glittering necklace from Mikimoto; What makes an icon like Uma Thurman shine even brighter? FORGED BY THE ELEMENTS

forged by the elements a masterpiece in the making A gemstone’s most captivating quality is often the result of an extraordinary geological coincidence. Color may seem effortless, but within a gemstone, it is the result of chemistry, crystal structure and geological history working together. Pure corundum is colorless—yet trace amounts of iron and titanium can transform it into blue sapphire, while chromium creates the vivid red of ruby or the delicate pink of pink sapphire. Pure beryl is also colorless, but when beryllium encounters chromium or vanadium under the right conditions, emerald is born.

These elements do more than create color. The environment in which a gemstone forms leaves its mark on the crystal itself, influencing its inclusions, clarity and character. Every stone is therefore a record of the conditions that shaped it. Millions of years before our craftsmen select a gemstone for a piece of jewelry, the Earth has already determined much of what makes it unique. Our role is to understand that individuality, then use our craft to reveal it.

The same story unfolds in quartz. Iron, natural irradiation and structural changes give amethyst its violet character, while different conditions can produce the warm yellows and oranges of citrine. 1 IA 1A

Its color comes primarily from trace chromium within the crystal, with the concentration influencing whether the stone appears delicate pink or intensely saturated. Like other sapphires, it commonly forms in metamorphic rocks and can later be carried into alluvial deposits.

The mineral is BERYL beryl, which forms large hexagonal crystals, primarily through hydrothermal processes and in pegmatite rocks. Pure beryl is clear, but for an emerald to form, beryllium must meet chromium and/or vanadium in the Earth's crust—an unlikely combination because these elements typically occur in different rock types. Its turbulent formation often leaves behind natural inclusions known as jardin, French for “garden.”

a note from the designer on the creative direction of forged for generations

O

ur 2026 theme, Forged for Generations, celebrates the craftsmanship that allows fine jewelry to transcend time. Our spring/summer issue explored this idea through longevity—how jewelry, much like fine art, can allure through generations and remain treasured long after its creation. For our 2026 High Jewelry campaign, I wanted to approach that same idea from a more modern perspective by looking at where the story begins: with the natural materials that make our craft possible. Long before a Diamond Cellar goldsmith sits at the bench, nature has already begun shaping the gemstones and precious metals we work with. Formed over millions of years by extraordinary forces within the earth, these raw materials become the foundation for our craft. Transforming them into something beautiful requires the knowledge, precision and artistry that have always been at the heart of Diamond Cellar—and will continue to shape our legacy for generations to come. The metals and gemstones we work with are products of extraordinary forces; formed deep within the earth, transformed by heat and pressure, shaped by water and time, and brought together through the natural elements that have been at work for millions of years. Before our designers can forge these materials into something beautiful, nature has already begun the process. That realization led me to a concept I've always been inspired by: The Four Elements.

The Four Elements gave us a way to look at High Jewelry from two perspectives: where it begins and what it becomes. Nature creates the raw materials. Time transforms them. Our goldsmiths bring knowledge, precision and artistry to the process, turning something formed over millions of years into something that can be treasured for generations. Together, the four elements tell a story that begins in nature and ends in art. The materials may come from the earth, but it is craftsmanship that gives them a legacy. That is what we mean by Forged for Generations: creating jewelry meant not only to be worn today, but to be admired, treasured and passed forward for generations to come.

Bringing The World’s Finest Jewelry To You

Since 1947

The jewelry you discover at Diamond Cellar often begins with a journey. Our buying team travels the world—from Geneva and New York to Las Vegas and beyond—in search of exceptional jewelry, rare gemstones and designers we believe deserve a place in our showcases. We walk the shows, visit ateliers, meet the makers and continually seek out what’s new, what’s next and, most importantly, what’s worth owning. Nearly 80 years in the jewelry business has given us something that cannot be replicated overnight: relationships. Many of the designers and brands we work with today have grown alongside Diamond Cellar, creating personal connections that give our team extraordinary access to established names, emerging talent and exceptional pieces from around the world. Every piece is considered through the eyes of a true jeweler. We look beyond trends to craftsmanship, quality, value and longevity—selecting jewelry that feels relevant today but is made to be worn, loved and one day passed on. We travel the world to find the extraordinary, so you can discover it right here at Diamond Cellar.

CARBON 12.011

Before cutting begins, the rough diamond is carefully examined for its shape, inclusions, grain and potential. The cutter determines how the natural crystal can best be transformed while preserving as much of the diamond as possible.

A diamond begins with one of nature's simplest elements: carbon.

2. Planning & Cleaving

A cutter maps the diamond before making any major cuts. Its natural structure guides the plan, determining where the stone can be divided or shaped to create the greatest potential for beauty and brilliance.

3. Shaping

Deep within the earth’s mantle, approximately 150–200 kilometers below the surface, carbon encounters extraordinary heat and pressure. At temperatures of roughly 1,000–1,400°C and pressures of approximately 45–60 kilobars, carbon atoms can crystallize into diamond’s distinctive structure.

The rough stone begins to take form as its edges are carefully removed and its outline is established. For a heart shape, achieving symmetry is especially important; the two sides must mirror one another while maintaining the proportions that define the shape.

Most natural diamonds formed roughly 1–3 billion years ago, remaining deep within the earth until rare volcanic eruptions carried them toward the surface in rocks such as kimberlite.

4. Faceting The diamond’s facets are precisely cut and angled to control the movement of light through the stone. Their proportions and alignment determine how much light is reflected back to the eye as brilliance, fire and scintillation.

Not every diamond that emerges from the earth is destined to become a gemstone. Natural diamonds can vary significantly in clarity, color, crystal structure and size. Some contain numerous inclusions or structural irregularities, while others may be too small or poorly formed to produce a gem-quality stone. Even among diamonds with the potential for jewelry, the rough crystal may present challenges that require an expert eye to determine how—and whether—it should be cut.

5. Polishing Each facet is polished to create a smooth, reflective surface. Even microscopic differences can influence the way a diamond interacts with light, making precision essential.

This is where another kind of transformation begins. Before making a single cut, a master cutter studies the rough diamond's natural shape, inclusions and crystal structure. Every decision involves a balance: preserving as much of the stone as possible while creating the proportions, symmetry and facet arrangement needed to maximize its beauty and interaction with light.

6. The Finished Diamond What began as a rough crystal is now a precisely proportioned jewel. Its final shape is the result of countless decisions—guided by the natural characteristics of the stone and refined by the skill of the cutter.

From carbon to crystal, from rough to refined, a diamond is shaped by two forces separated by billions of years: the elements that form it and the craftsmanship that brings it to life.

FUN FACT: Diamond Cellar only sells the top three cut grades of gem-quality diamonds.

A distinctive variation of the classic marquise, the Dutch Marquise features sharper points and a more elongated, dramatic profile. Its faceting emphasizes length and brilliance.

Named for its resemblance to a flying kite, this four-sided shape features a pointed top and bottom with wider, angled shoulders. Its asymmetrical-looking geometry gives it a modern, unconventional character.

As the CAD designer at Diamond Cellar, I was blessed to be able to design Caitlin's ring myself. It's a low-set pear center stone with small marquise stones accenting it on the side like leaves on a flower. The yellow gold shank is made to look like branches of a tree coming up and creating the prongs for the stones. Then there's a mirroring of a small filigree spiral that completes the front and back on both sides of the ring's basket." - tymon

Tommy planned the most incredible proposal—I truly couldn't have dreamed up a more perfect moment myself! He surprised me with a stay at the beautiful Shangri-La Hotel in Paris. Little did I know, an even bigger surprise was waiting for me on the terrace of our stunning room overlooking the Eiffel Tower. It was the most surreal, unforgettable moment, and I truly felt like I was living in a romance film. It's a memory I'll cherish forever!" - nadya

the ancient meets hi-tech Tudor’s relaunched Monarch watch is a modern marvel with a classical aesthetic that draws not only on the brand’s history but on the world of antiquity too. By Christen Fisher Herculaneum was an ancient seaside resort town of about 5,000, a haven for Rome’s well-to-do and wellconnected until 79 C.E., when Mount Vesuvius erupted, burying it under 75 feet of ash and mud. Almost 1,700 years later, a farmhand on the southwestern side of the Italian peninsula was digging a well and discovered a mosaic tile floor that turned out to be part of an expansive villa. The villa was believed to have been owned by Julius Caesar’s father-in-law; it housed a library of some 800 papyrus scrolls that became known as the Herculaneum papyri. They were carbonized by the eruption and kept perfectly intact. Attempts to read the scrolls, however, proved futile, as unrolling them by hand caused them to fall apart. Then, in 2015, a team of scientists at the University of Kentucky began using X-ray technology and computer vision to read papyrus scrolls virtually—in other words, without unrolling them. The Herculaneum papyri were, however, written using carbon ink; that made the process of deciphering them even more difficult. So in 2023 came the launch of the Vesuvius Challenge: a machine-learning, computer vision and geometry competition to read the carbonized Herculaneum papyrus scrolls. In 2024, a team of papyrologists won $700,000 for deciphering more than 2,000 characters of a single scroll, setting the stage for all 800 scrolls to eventually be read and added to the great human canon. There is something profound about the way we strive so zealously toward our future only to use what ground we gain to illuminate our past. It is as if to exist in the present moment, we must balance on a pinhead-sized fulcrum by stretching one hand ardently toward the future and one reverently toward the past. So many of our endeavors reflect this balancing act—such as using AI to read ancient papyrus scrolls or incorporating the latest in technology and

materials into a mechanical Swiss watch whose aesthetics are meant to evoke the ancient world. To this end, Tudor, now in its 100th year, has relaunched the Monarch wristwatch. Tudor’s new Monarch is a modern marvel with a classical aesthetic that not only pulls from the brand’s own history but from the world of antiquity as well. At 39 millimeters, the Monarch features a sharp, angled steel case and matching two-link bracelet with a T-fit clasp, giving the watch a distinctly sleek and modern feel. In striking yet harmonious contrast with the faceted steel case, the Monarch features a textured, dark, champagne-colored dial designed to be reminiscent of papyrus and to evoke the mysterious allure of the ancient world. It is laid out in the distinctive “errorproof-style”—known colloquially among watch enthusiasts as a “California dial”—which incorporates two different styles of numerals: Roman from 10 to 2 and Arabic from 4 to 8. A full display caseback frames a movement unique to the Tudor Monarch. The Manufacture Calibre MT5662-2U displays center hours and minutes, small seconds at 6 o’clock. All the finishing hallmarks of traditional watchmaking are present, such as perlage on the mainplate, Côtes de Genève on the bridges and an 18-carat gold inlay on the rotor. The robust and highly accurate movement is anti-magnetic and earned chronometer certification from the Official Swiss Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC). After undergoing a series of rigorous tests, the fully assembled watch received Master Chronometer certification from the prestigious Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology (METAS). The Monarch also has a 65-hour power reserve, making it “weekend-proof”—the wearer can take the watch off on a Friday evening and put it back on again Monday morning without ever having to wind it. The Tudor Monarch strikes the ultimate balance between the wonders of the past and the very best in forward-thinking design and technology, creating a sporty yet elegant timepiece perfect for the present moment. The Tudor’s reimagined Monarch is the perfect blend of classic and contemporary. It features a 39mm steel case with a striking dark champagne-color dial, a two-link faceted bracelet and a T-fit clasp.

For almost 30 years, actor Matt Damon has been a consistent force on the big screen, and his watches more than live up to that reputation.

good watch hunting From his explosive early success to his turn on The Odyssey, actor Matt Damon knows what he likes and where he thrives. He knows his watches too. Since his screen debut in 1988, actor Matt Damon is credited with 88 movie roles. Add another 10 or so for projects he worked on only behind the scenes as a producer, executive producer or screenwriter; toss on another dozen if you count television roles. Since 1996, there has been only one year when a movie with Damon somewhere in it didn’t hit the silver screen. That was 2020, when virtually no movies hit the silver screen at all. To call 55-yearold Damon “prolific” is an understatement. Born in Cambridge, Mass., Damon showed his interest in the arts early. He was active in his high school’s drama department, where he met lifelong friend and collaborator Ben Affleck. Damon first appeared in 1988’s Mystic Pizza beside a young Julia Roberts. He attended Harvard University, but left before graduating to embrace an acting opportunity. The turning point: He and Affleck wrote and starred in 1997’s Good Will Hunting, which won the duo the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay. The next year, Damon played a part in Saving Private Ryan that, though it wasn’t the lead, was in fact the title role. And he’s simply never stopped. In the years since, he’s been nominated for three more Oscars and won a Golden Globe. From action hero Jason Bourne in the spy-thriller action series known by that character’s surname to a stranded astronaut in 2015’s The Martian to legendary racecar driver and automotive designer Carroll Shelby in 2019’s Ford vs. Ferrari to the general who oversaw the Manhattan Project in 2023’s Oppenheimer, Damon has added subtle emotional depth, empathy and charm to every role he’s touched—always masculine, never opaque. This

summer he took on the role of Odysseus in Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey. He’s married to Luciana Bozán Barroso; together they have three daughters. It shouldn’t surprise anyone that a performer with such a packed schedule reaches for Rolex. His go-to for years has been a vintage Rolex Oyster Perpetual Explorer Ref. 114270—an all-time classic that’s reliable and eye-catching without being flashy. (That’s also a good way to describe Damon’s acting style.) He’s been seen with it often, not just on red carpets but in his day-to-day life since the early 2000s. And he doesn’t just covet Rolexes for himself; Hollywood buzz suggests it’s also his favorite gift for friends. Stunning watches tend to be seen with Damon on screen as well. In Ford v Ferrari, he nods to a racing heritage by giving Carroll Shelby a vintage TAG Heuer Carrera Ref. 7753. With a stainless-steel case, a panda-style dial and legendary precision, the piece is an ode to the 1960s racing scene the movie recalls. And the brand has been seen with him before: In The Bourne Identity, Damon wears a Tag Heuer Link Chronograph. Strong and no-nonsense, it’s the perfect characterization touch for this ruthless spy. A totally different vibe? Look to The Martian, where astronaut-in-peril Mark Watney wears an all-black Hamilton BeLOWZERO (as the company prefers to style it), stealthy and rugged with luminous hour markers and hands—perfect for highrisk, interstellar survival. What’s the next step after you’ve taken on The Odyssey? Damon shows no signs of slowing down. For decades to come, surely, he’ll be a face to watch—and a wrist as well.

WATCHES TO WATCH

We don’t know if actor, screenwriter and producer Matt Damon has a favorite character he’s played, but he certainly has a favorite watch: the all-time classic Rolex Oyster Perpetual Explorer Ref. 114270. Elegantly understated with a solid-line oyster band, this is the focal point of a collection that’s discreet and carefully considered. In the fast-paced heist movie Ocean’s Twelve, which hit theaters in 2004, Damon plays pickpocket and mastermind-in-training Linus Caldwell. The character rocks a Rolex Oyster Perpetual Ref. 6084, a super-classy vintage piece from the 1950s, on a brown leather strap—an exquisite balance of youth and experience. When he returned to the screen in the sequel, 2007’s Ocean’s Thirteen, Damonas-Caldwell got an even more covetable timepiece: an IWC Portugieser Chronograph. Known for its reliability and bold style, it has precision and finesse oozing from the steel case and white dial. It was a watch that kept up with the breakneck pace of the heist—and with the star who wore it too.
