Kapi’olani Hydration Presentation

WES Chinese New Year

Onizuka Day

Kapi’olani Hydration Project

In this project, members of Waiakea High School Key Club presented to students attending Chiefess Kapi’olani Elementary School about the benefits of hydration and water. One of the presenters had made a presentation on the topic, which was further improved by the rest of the members involved. After preparing everything required and heading to the school, we dropped off the water bottles that were to be given to the students. There were two groups which together composed the whole school, and the members presented to both, one group at a time. A challenge to use the provided water bottles and drink more water was explained after the presentation. - Rowan Chhay January 14, 2020 Photo Credit: Tia Teramoto

WES Chinese New Year

January 24, 2020 On the evening of January 24th, 2020, some of Waiakea High School Key Club’s members volunteered at Waiakea Elementary School’s Chinese New Year event. Members assisted with the preparation and execution of the activities that took place. These activities consisted of the crafting of Chinese New Year drums, coloring themed worksheets, and serving out bowls of chow mein. In addition, some were welcoming families and handling the ticket raffle. When the event had ended, all members helped with the clean up. People were wiping down tables and seats, sweeping the floor, and throwing out trash. However, in the midst of this, members got the opportunity to meet and bond with the elementary students as well as watch a fun Chinese Lion dance performance. - Mia Tulang Photo Credit: Blaize Wakakuwa

Onizuka Day

At Onizuka Day, we helped with the registration by stopping people from entering the theatre early, and at the registers. We also helped the people doing the work sessions with their demonstrations. We were able to learn things about science from the presenters at the work sessions and had a lot of fun. January 25, 2020 - Alex Ogawa
