Here in Albany, it can be difficult to find ways to occupy your time. This is truer than ever for teens, and with spring break on its way, teens may be struggling to come up with interesting ways to have fun around town. Luckily, Albany has a lot to offer to those with open minds and a love for getting out. These are a few things worth exploring around town.

Explore Albany’s many parks

Eastern end of Waverly Park The city of Albany is home to 29 city parks spread out all over town, all of which have something interesting and unique to offer. Whether it’s the 3 mile long walking trail at Takena Landing, the perfect picnic spots right by the river at Monteith, or the hidden dirt bmx park and disc golf at Bryant park, the activities available at these parks are a great way to spend your leisure time, and it’s almost completely free of hassle.

Explore Talking Water Gardens

Talking Water Gardens is a wetland created with the intention of not only nurturing and preserving nature, but also people as well. The wetland is located right next to the water treatment plant, and serves as a paradise for nature lovers and animal lovers alike. On top of that, it’s the perfect place to take a walk and observe the various wildlife that take shelter in the wetland.

2nd Street in downtown Albany Albany’s historic downtown is full of things to do, places to see, and at the heart of it all, a deep history. Whether you’re looking to grab a bite to eat, see a movie, or experience Albany’s rich historical background, chances are you can find what you’re looking for downtown. Some must-see locations include the Albany Antique Mall, The Pix, The Carousel, The Albany Regional Museum, Margin Coffee, Little Wuesten Cafe, and Tone Thai.
