This auction features artwork by modern and contemporary Japanese artists such as Gaboku Ogawa (1911-2000), Sougen Chiba (b. 1955), Naoyoshi Murayama (b. 1936), Keisen Harada (b. 1940), Tainan Sasaki (1909-1998), Taika Ookusa (b. 1912), Shingai Tanaka (1942-2007), Michiko Kagawa (b. 1928), and many others. This collection was assembled by Mr. Armand Jetté, a Canadian businessman, in collaboration with The CAEA (Club des Amis de l’Europe et des Arts) and JIAS (Japan International Artists Society). It was acquired in 1997 by the Fondation des arts et métiers d’art du Québec (FAMAQ) and L’Artothéque, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting local artists and disseminating visual works of art to the public.
