The final Ethnographic auction of 2020 features pieces from across the African continent, with a focus on Western and Central Africa. Highlights include a large Akan terracotta head, a Yoruba shrine figure, a Bamana maternity figure as well as many interesting and unique masks, statues, weaponry and jewellery. Also included are pieces from Papua New Guinea, Indonesia, Australia and the Solomon Islands, including an Iatmul orator’s stool, a Biwat or Angoram War Shield and Batak Toba medicine containers.
Several of the lots have been consigned from the Estate of Richard LaPrairie. Proceeds will be donated to Camp Ooch & Camp Trillium to benefit children living with cancer.
