BREAKING FREE FROM DOMESTIC ABUSE

Leeway provides free and confidential support.

Established in 1974, Leeway is an independent charity (1079214) providing support to adults, young people and children who are experiencing domestic abuse in Norfolk and Suffolk.

They operate safehouses across the county where people experiencing domestic abuse (and their children) are welcome to stay as long as necessary to secure a future free from a dangerous partner.

Domestic abuse goes beyond violent behaviour and physical abuse. It also includes any type of sexual, psychological and financial abuse and is about a range of coercive and controlling behaviours. It also includes ‘honour-based violence’, female genital mutilation (FGM)

and forced marriages. It can happen in any relationship – regardless of age, race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, social class or income.

If you are being forced to change your behaviour because you are scared of your partner or a family member's reaction, it's likely that

you are being abused.
