Welcome… to the latest edition of THE STRATTON & TASBURGH BOOK…

Summer is in full swing - I hope you’re enjoying the (currently sketchy) weather!

At home we often reflect on our good fortune to be able to grow up and live here in the Norfolk Broads region - we really are lucky in that respect, aren’t we?

Back in 2006, we decided to create a new community-based publication and our first magazine was launched in the Wroxham area. Eighteen years on, our youngest Jack has finished School and College and has successfully completed his first year in the workplace.

That seems pretty scary to us - wherever does that amount of time go? It serves as a good reminder for us to make the most of lifehaving gratitude for the simple things and ‘live in the here and now’…

There’s lots of content inside; Articles, Quizzes, Community Events and ‘What's On’ notices - as well as a great selection of thriving local business services.

VOLUNTARY CONTROLLED PRIMARY SCHOOL

Preston Church of England Voluntary Controlled Primary School, based in Tasburgh, Norwich, has received a glowing Ofsted report, celebrating its inclusive and supportive environment, ambitious curriculum, and commitment to fostering pupil well-being and academic achievement.

The report praises the school for its happy and welcoming atmosphere, where pupils embody the school's vision to "live life to the full." It noted that pupils behaved well, and those with complex needs receive excellent support and benefit from an inclusive curriculum.

The report goes on to highlight that

pupils have numerous opportunities to take on responsibilities, such as school council positions and eco -councillor roles. These roles empower pupils and give them a voice in school decisions.

The school's ambitious curriculum ensures that all pupils, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), are challenged and achieve well, performing in line with national standards by the time they leave. The curriculum was praised as being broad and thoughtfully designed, helping pupils make connections across subjects and deepening their knowledge.

The personal, social, and health education curriculum was highlighted as being carefully planned,

enriched with experiences like residential trips to promote independence and resilience. Leaders have invested in high-quality training for staff, resulting in a confident and skilled workforce, who enjoy working at the school.

The report highlighted that governors are well-informed and that they hold school leaders effectively to account. Safeguarding arrangements are also robust and effective, ensuring a safe environment for all pupils.

Preston Church of England Voluntary Controlled Primary School is part of the Tas Valley Church Schools Federation, along with Saxlingham Nethergate Church of England Voluntary Controlled Primary School.
