WROXHAM AND HOVETON LIONS CLUB
The time is nearly here for our great Hoveton Charity Village Summer Fete, which this year is being held on Sunday August 7th at Hoveton Village Hall and Playing Field starting at 10am. Do come along and join in, where there will be something for everyone, including classic cars, Honda Motorcycle Club, vintage tractors, Norfolk Internal Combustion Engine Society, fire engine, scouts climbing wall, children’s electric cars, roundabout, bouncy castle, hook a duck, and face painting, There will also be trade and charity stalls, games and craft stalls both inside and outside the hall, also food and drink including a bar. The entrance fee is £250 for adults with under 16s free. Parking is also free both at the Village Hall and at the overflow car park at the Broadland Community Centre. So please come and support us. The more money we can raise, the more people in our community we can help in these uncertain times. Every Lions Club in the world is part LCIF (Lions Club International Foundation), to whom we make donations to help with any disasters that might occur world wide. The grants are sent to the Lions Clubs of the affected area so that there is no misuse of the funding. In the last twelve months LCIF have donated funding in excess of 34.4 million dollars to Disaster Relief, Hunger, Humanitarian Efforts, Ukraine, Childhood Cancer, Diabetes and Vision. So you can see we do a lot of good through out the world. If you would like to be part of this, then please come and join us as we are always looking for new members. If you do have some spare time and are interested, please give me a call on 07850 091570 or contact our membership chair person Lion Lydia Spight via our “Learn More” link on our web site www.wroxhamandhovetonlions.org

WROXHAM BURE VALLEY ROTARY CLUB
We are now well into our new Rotary year under President Robin Baines and the Club is as busy as ever. We recently appeared at Coltishall school summer Fete, running the barbecue, and serving over 400 burgers and hot dogs in a hectic two hours. We have also joined with the local scouts on a litter pick in Hoveton.
This month we have our first major fundraising event - on Friday 12th August we are holding a Barn dance in a real barn in Rackheath. We have an excellent band and there will be a cash and card bar available. Entrance is by ticket only and tickets including barbecue are £15 for adults, accompanied children under 10 are free. There are still a few tickets available – if you fancy a great night out contact Robin (see number below) or pop into Abbotts, estate agents, in Hoveton precinct This is closely followed by our Classic Car Show at Wroxham Barns on Sunday 18th September from 10am, run in conjunction with Wroxham Barns, and 1st Hoveton & Wroxham Sea Scouts. This is an excellent day out, free of charge, with a pay bar and barbecue available this year, a host of beautiful cars to look at and all the usual attractions of Wroxham Barns as well, so make a note of the date and come along and see us. You can support us and the many local and international charities we donate to, through the Broadland Council Lottery Scheme – simply go on line www.communityatheartlottery.com and sign up, selecting Wroxham Bure Valley Rotary Club as your chosen cause. You can also support us directly by visiting our page on the www.totalgiving.co.uk web site. We have a great programme of guest speakers, outside visits and fund raising events lined up for this year - to find out more about us you could come along to one of our meetings. Meantime, we hope everyone stays safe and remember, in the true Rotary spirit of “Service above Self” we have members ready and willing to help out in the local community wherever the need arises. If you fancy joining us for a vibrant, sociable, active, and fun club experience, or to inquire about the Barn Dance or Classic Car show, please contact our president, Robin Baines, on 01603 782920 / 07721 465647.
