Almost 1 in 8 people in Norfolk are looking after a friend or family member who due to illness, disability or an addiction can’t manage without their support. All unpaid carers are entitled to support but many find it hard to navigate their way through the services available. In recognition of this, Norfolk County Council has funded a comprehensive support service for carers, Carers Matter Norfolk, which offers: · 7 day a week Freephone advice line 0800 083 1148: Carers can chat to our experienced, friendly advisors about any of their caring concerns. The advice line is open from 8am-8pm Mon-

day-Friday, 4pm-8pm on Saturdays and 8am-noon on Sundays · One to one support: We have a team of Carer Connectors who can visit you in your home or a place convenient you, to offer tailored support and in-depth, complex advice. · Counselling: We have a free counselling service for carers who find that their caring role is affecting their own health & wellbeing. · Education & Training We have created the UK’s first dedicated

Carer’s Self Help Hub with over 450 online videos, podcasts and training courses in areas such as general healthcare to first aid, infection, nutrition and how to navigate the healthcare system. · Carers Voice We provide a forum for carers to share their views, keep in touch with each other and access to one of over 140 peer support groups.
