GOLDEN PLAINS WIND FARM ECONOMIC, COMMUNITY AND ENVIRONMENTAL BENEFITS

GREENHOUSE GAS SAVINGS > 3 million tonnes of carbon dioxide annually

INSTALLED RATED CAPACITY Approx. 1,000 megawatts

LOW ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT The wind farm footprint occupies approximately 1-2% of the entire site and has a high compatibility with existing agricultural land uses.

EXPECTED GENERATION Approx. 3,500 - 4,200 gigawatt hours, per annum

COMMUNITY INVESTMENT PROGRAM Residents within 10km are invited to invest in the project, to participate in community owned renewable energy.

HOMES POWERED Equivalent to the consumption of > 500,000 homes (That’s approx. 4 times the number of homes in Geelong.)

COMMUNITY BENEFIT FUND Up to $228,000 per year for community based initiatives, projects & events, managed by local community members.

HOST LANDHOLDERS > $3.5M in annual income across 40 host landholders

ELECTRICITY OFFSET SCHEME Green electricity will be provided to an amount equal to the average VIC home at no cost, to all non-host dwellings within 3km of a constructed turbine.

REGIONAL EMPLOYMENT 70+ direct operational employment 700+ construction employment

FINANCIAL INCENTIVE FOR NEIGHBOURS Annual financial incentive of $1000 per turbine (first three turbines) - $750 per turbine (for any further turbines) within 2km of all non-host dwellings.

(Dwellings in the Rokewood Township Zone are excluded.)

ENERGY AUDITS Energy audits for all non-host dwellings within 3km of a constructed turbine to help homeowners understand how to minimise electricity usage.

SHIRE RATES Approx. $1,000,000 per year

NATIVE FLORA & FAUNA Significant offset programs to protect biodiversity values for perpetuity.
