CELEBRATE THE INCREDIBLE WOMEN OF VYSTAR

March is Women’s History Month!

Organizations around the world are embracing diversity to help create a more inclusive working environment and culture. This March, VyStar has the opportunity to recognize Women within our organization that are inspiring others to do their best.

In effort to celebrate Women right here at VyStar, the Women at VyStar Empowered (W.A.V.E.) Employee Resource Group (ERG) created an opportunity to nominate inspirational Women. This booklet highlights many Women whose impact may have otherwise been hidden behind the scenes.

As you review this booklet, it will not take much time to discover that Women at VyStar are making a significant difference, not only in the lives of other VyStar team members, but in the lives of so many others within the community. We are honored to include the stories of these Women, however, we acknowledge that every woman at VyStar is contributing to the overall positive impact being made on our organization and in our community.

"Alissa is a sweetheart. A kind, loving and caring person. Some say members first but Alissa truly shows it. When everyone is stressed out or has a bad day, Alissa shows us patience and calms everyone down. Alissa shows empathy to members and is the first person we think of when a member comes in upset because she can handle any situation in a calm and respectful manner. She makes you want to better yourself and treat others like she does. She leads by example and has patience like I have never seen. She is a asset to VyStar and I am proud to call her my co worker and feel VyStar should be proud to have her as well."

"Amber is constantly going above and beyond to assist our members, even staying until 7pm in order to assist a member that had to drive over an hour to get to our branch when she had her accounts compromised. Amber is a leader who inspires confidence and strength in her team. Amber is a positive force within VyStar and her local communities. Amber is very active in community events; she seeks out new events that can help the community and partners with the local leaders for city and county events as a sponsor and volunteer. Amber has personally impacted me by helping me decide what I want to do within VyStar and how I can get there. She is great with constructive criticism and is eager to help anywhere she can to help her team reach all that they want to achieve."

"Ariel makes everyone around her feel inspired to be great! She is always available for a conversation, and that conversation is always thought provoking and leads to the discovery of the correct answers. She is empathetic, yet firm in her position. Her confidence radiates and spreads to everyone around her. She drives her employees and her superiors to be their best, by promoting, helping, and challenging her team. She is involved in a women’s group that helps build, develop, and empower not only the women in our organization, but the women in our community. Additionally, she is on the board of Tyjim, which is a community charity that helps at risk youth, and she volunteers with several charity organizations that help provide the essentials of life that most of us take for granted.

"Adriana always comes in with a positive attitude that allows you to feel that you’re going to conquer the day! She’s consistently upbeat and reassuring that the problem is not necessarily a problem at all. She stays late at night helping us find any missing transactions or outages! She literally is our OPERATIONS QUEEN! She’s always willing to do strenuous research on finding the solution to our issues inside of the branch. Adriana takes the time to hear us out about anything that may be going on with us personally and professionally. For me, that shows that we’re just not colleagues but to her, family as well.

"I have had the pleasure of working for Dale for almost 18 years. In that time period, VTA has grown from 3 to 5 to now 25 staff members. When I started, we did a couple of loans a day and now on our busiest of days we have reached over 50 loans in a day and contribute quite a bit to the VyStar bottom line. Throughout it all, Dale has always maintained a very professional demeanor and even when things appeared to not be going well, she tells us to remain calm and always assured us that we will work through whatever challenges we are faced with. Not only do the staff turn to her for professional assistance, but she is also always there to aid us personally.

She is truly an asset to VTA and VCU and is greatly admired and revered by her staff. We are lucky to have such a kind and understanding leader that leads by example showing everyone the same respect. I try to mimic my leadership style after her and found that you don't need to rule with an iron fist in order to get results. Dale has a way of walking in and giving you a look that says please get this done ASAP without saying a word and everyone wants to make sure that we do well for her. Our group has grown, and we have lost a few players over the years, but for the most part no one leaves VTA and a lot of that is due in direct result of her leadership. HEATHER GAYLE

AS AN INSPIRING WOMAN OF VYSTAR

- Learn More About Heather's Impact -

"VyStar has a strong set of core values, in which it believes its employees and leaders should exhibit in everything that they do for the organization, as well as for themselves. Among those within IT is Heather Gayle, recently promoted to the role of Manager, Voice Technology Services; who has clearly embraced these values as part of daily interactions with peers, internal employees and with third party partners. She is a long time VyStar employee and has been part of the telecommunications team for the past twenty-two years, where she has been supporting the enterprise voice systems, and in particular, the various call centers that support our members. She was the Senior Engineer on the team prior to her promotion and uniquely straddles the line of being both technically oriented as well as people focused. Her documentation is outstanding and sets a clear precedence for communications and ensuring that everyone is on the same page.

She has been involved in numerous sustainment and system improvement projects during her tenure here and has strived to improve capabilities and resiliency within the call center technology - ensuring that capacity is there to meet the demand in any situation. Her team’s support during the 2022 OMB crisis was critical is sustaining voice systems capabilities to serve members and internal employees during the issue time period; and is only one example of a commitment to excellence.

Heather is very often client centric in focus; whether that is with her peers, for another internal team or is member facing. She interfaces with our key vendors on a continual basis to ensure that system capabilities, upgrades and projects are well understood and executed on. She partners with Contact Center on a regular basis and includes key resources in project and vendor meetings to ensure consistency and the ability to voice their concerns. Regular touchpoints with the call center allow the whole team to stay aware of what's important to this critical business function.

Heather has built some strong relationships inside the organization, as well as with third party vendors – all of which speak highly of her. She respects the work of others and is well respected for her own efforts. It is certainly so much easier to nominate her and tell the story when able to use the words of others. "Jackie is a prime example of commitment, dedication, and innovation. Since transitioning to the HR training department, she has worked closely with the contact center to pilot a new training program for contact center representatives. Before transitioning over to HR, Jackie was a top performer in her lending team and assisted the OJT department with new hire onboarding. She is passionate about training new hires and strongly believes in the impact she has on new hires, what their experience will be like, and why working for VyStar was the best decision they could have made. I am proud to call her, not only my peer, but a strong female role model at VyStar Credit Union and I can't wait to see what she does next."

"Jen was my mentor on the first round of the VyStar Mentorship program back in 2019. Jen taught me a lot about what it means to be a woman in banking. Jen taught me the values and core meaning of what women helping women means. Jen continued to mentor me after our formal relationship ended in the program and always made me aware she was just a message away for anything I needed. Jen has volunteered at numerous events to help others and has always been extremely self-less and has lead by example for "Do Good." Jen is someone who builds other women up, makes you know you matter, and gives you the best advice and real world examples to succeed as women in any industry."
