xstat ® The Breakthrough Treatment for Non-Compressible Hemorrhage


Description xstat® is a wound dressing indicated for the control of severe bleeding from junctional wounds in the groin or axilla not amenable to tourniquet application or extremity wounds in the arm or leg in adults and adolescents.

xstat® comes in two sizes:

1. x stat®30 GEN2 (30mm in diameter) – Designed for larger deficit wounds from gunshot wounds and other penetrating trauma;

2. x stat®12 (12mm in diameter) - Designed for smaller wounds associated with stab wounds, shrapnel, small caliber weapons.

xstat® is supplied in single-unit packages for both xstat®30 GEN2 and xstat®12, and in a three pack for xstat®12.

Utilisation / Indication xstat® is a temporary device for emergency use for up to twenty-four (24) hours until surgical care is acquired. xstat® is intended for by trained emergency and medical personnel only.

Contraindications: xstat® is NOT indicated for use in the thorax; the pleural cavity; the mediastinum; the abdomen; the retroperitoneal space, the sacral space; the space above the inguinal ligament; or tissues above the clavicle.

Data (ref below) • Average application time of 7 minutes with traditional solution against hemorrhage compared to an average of 25 seconds for xstat®. • Effectiveness is 40% more important with xstat® than Gauze. • Weight before and after xstat® use is inferior to the Gauze weight. • The quantity of blood loss is inferior with xstat® than traditional gauze.
