About the In Memory Program The Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund (VVMF) is dedicated to preserving the legacy of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, promoting healing and educating about the impact of the Vietnam War. The legacy of the Memorial includes not only those whose names grace the granite walls, but also embraces all who served during the Vietnam War. The In Memory Program honors those who died as a result of the Vietnam War, but whose deaths do not fit the Department of Defense parameters for inclusion upon The Wall. Many thousands of both service members and civilians died as a result of their involvement in the war, but not as a direct result of combat wounds, as is dictated for inscription on The Wall. If you know anyone whose death was related to Vietnam War involvement and would like to have that person included in the In Memory Program, contact VVMF at: (202) 393-0090 or visit our website for details and to download the In Memory application: www.vvmf.org/InMemoryProgram.

Our Special Thanks Special thanks go out to the volunteers, particularly Tamora Papas; the Non Commissioned Officers Association for its generous support in sponsoring every In Memory Day ceremony since 2004; and, most especially, the families and friends of the In Memory honorees for journeying to Washington, D.C., to take part in this special day. Visit our website at www.vvmf.org to watch the ceremony in its entirety.

About the Education Center at The Wall and VVMF The Wall helps us remember the names of the service members who died or remain missing from the Vietnam War. VVMF’s newest initiative, the Education Center at The Wall, will help us remember their faces and learn about their lives as well. The Education Center is a learning center being built by the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund and located near the Lincoln and Vietnam Veterans Memorials. It is designed to tell future generations what service and sacrifice are all about. The exhibits inside the Center will feature the stories of many who served, display some of the more than 150,000 personal remembrances left at The Wall, present a timeline of historical events and feature special exhibits to highlight the service and sacrifice of different groups and individuals. For information, visit www.buildthecenter.org. Established in 1979, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund’s activities include educational programs for students and teachers, a traveling Wall replica that honors our nation’s veterans and six ceremonies each year at the Memorial to honor and remember those who served in Vietnam.
