The name Lulu is often associated with preciousness, innocence, and joy a symbol of inherent worth and inner light Spiritually, Lulu embodies the idea that we are all treasures, divine sparks deserving of love, care, and gentle nurturing It’s a reminder to reconnect with our purest selves, to cherish the light within, and to embrace life’s simple, profound truths
For me, however, Lulu is a name my children lovingly gave to my mum because they couldn’t quite pronounce her real name when they were little Instead, they called her Lulu a sweet, affectionate name that became a symbol of love, family, and connection That’s why I chose to name this space Lulu: because it represents a place of warmth, nurturing, and peace a sanctuary where I feel most at home
I grew up in Germany, and my first encounter with Africans was at the age of six I still vividly remember my mother pulling out a map and showing me where this incredible continent was located Even then, I knew in my heart that one day I would visit There was an undeniable sense of belonging a whisper of home that called to me across the miles
Decades later, in my 60s, that dream became a beautiful reality The moment I landed in Cape Town, it felt like returning to myself The stunning landscapes, the warmth and openness of the people each moment here reaffirmed that this place is sacred It is a space that grounds us, reconnects us to nature, and fills our spirit with calm and peace
It brings me great joy that you ’ ve chosen to stay here My hope is that Lulu offers you the same sense of peace, connection, and renewal May it become your sanctuary a place where your heart feels at home and your spirit finds rest
