It seems the more I travel, the longer my bucket list grows. Once upon a time, my travel bucket list had fewer than five destinations. Now, it seems that every time I check one off, I add two more places to visit. In compiling research for this issue, I learned that the average person’s bucket list contains 11 destinations, with hopes of visiting at least 7 of them within their lifetime.
In a world full of fascinating locales, selecting the perfect destination can be quite a challenge. We decided to take that challenge a step further, narrowing it down to the 5 must-visit destinations in 2025. What made the list? Keep reading to find out. Spoiler alert: One of them is right here in Georgia. And if you can’t visit them all, no worries—just add more to your own list.
With great pride and excitement, I welcome you to the premiere issue of VUE Atlanta. We are thrilled to bring the essence of our successful publication to the vibrant communities of Atlanta and beyond. Our mission is to curate a lifestyle that resonates with those who seek the finer things in life—whether it’s discovering hidden gems in your own backyard here in Georgia or finding inspiration in the stories of those shaping the world.
We are also excited to present our annual Holiday Issue. Each year, we dedicate time to spotlight top local charities and foundations that are making the biggest impact today. You’ll find a local and national directory of organizations to consider for charitable donations this holiday season.
Additionally, you’ll find our Luxury Holiday Gift Guide, a collection of over 100 items across a dozen categories, carefully curated by our in-house team. Every gift has been reviewed and tested to ensure it meets the VUE Stamp of Approval. We’ve even included thoughtful gifts for your furry friends.
The ability to create is a blessing and a privilege, and one we take very seriously. We constantly challenge ourselves to look at things from a new perspective. As Mark Twain once said, “Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect.”
Warmest wishes for a festive season filled with elegance, joy, and enchantment. From our family to yours, we wish you all the best this holiday season and can’t wait to see you in the new year!

“” Beware of the assumption that the way you work is the best way simply because it’s the way you’ve done it before
Iam elated to be working with VUE Atlanta as editor and honored to present you with our first issue. The inaugural issue makes its debut just in time for the holidays, so it’s packed full of wonderful gift ideas, a list of charities to give to, and places to celebrate with loved ones. We have luxe, must-visit vacation destinations (near and far) as well as local hot spots you should patronize this season, including one of my favorite restaurants, Marcel. Honestly, Marcel is my goto for the best ambiance and steak in Atlanta.
I love this time of year! ‘Tis the season for making memories with family and friends, exploring new places, and indulging in all the delicious seasonal fare. Whether you’re looking for staycation ideas, need dining suggestions, or are interested in Atlanta’s upcoming festive events, we have you covered. We’re here to showcase all the amazing people, places, cuisine, exhibits... found in Atlanta and so much more. Grab a cup of hot cocoa or your favorite libation, snuggle up with your coziest blanket, and enjoy the issue.
Happy Holidays!

Upon entering Marcel, guests are transported from the bustling city into a warm, inviting space featuring classical French music; elegant vintage decor and art; and soft lighting. The Michelin recommended restaurant, located in Midtown Atlanta, offers an experience reminiscent of the “old days of dining.” Opened in 2015 by Atlanta-based chef/ restaurateur Ford Fry, the French-American steakhouse is named after the famous French boxer Marcel Cerdan.
Guests can explore a thoughtfully designed drink menu, which includes an array of wines, hand-stirred cocktails, and appealing nonalcoholic options. The Midnight in Paris is a refreshing choice for anyone in the mood for a non-alcoholic, yet creative drink. At Marcel, the servers provide personalized attention, which enhances the dining experience.
Dinner begins with their complimentary focaccia and whipped ricotta, which is a delightful introduction to the elevated level of cuisine being served. Their appetizer menu includes standouts such as escargots, bone marrow, and steak tartare. They also have caviar served with warm blinis and the traditional accoutrements, shrimp cocktail, jumbo lump crab, and oysters. I ordered the Oysters Marcel, which is served hot and adorned with breadcrumbs, butter, and herbs; this delicious dish demonstrates the restaurant’s commitment to freshness and presentation.
While Marcel is well-known for their firstclass steaks (filet mignon, Tomahawk ribeye, porterhouse, etc.) and Beef Wellington (which requires a 24-hour notice), they also offer classic dishes, such as lobster risotto and veal parmesan. Cooked to perfection and generously topped with cheese, the veal parmesan is a harmonious blend of classic flavors and modern culinary techniques. This attention to detail and quality is demonstrated throughout the menu.
No meal is complete without dessert – their Baked Alaska is a must. Prepared tableside, this decadent dessert showcases the restaurant’s culinary artistry with its chocolate coffee crust, vanilla ice cream, and coffee Italian meringue. The dramatic presentation of the Baked Alaska raises my dining experience from a meal to a memorable experience.
Marcel successfully delivers a dining experience that fuses history and French culture with culinary innovation. The service was attentive and personable and my food was delivered promptly and fresh. The exceptional quality of Marcel’s dishes and elegant ambiance make this a worthwhile investment for a memorable evening.

(SRP $115) Sapaio’s flagship label authentically embodies the essence of Bolgheri’s terroir, enriched by the warmth, sunlight, and coastal breezes of the Mediterranean Sea. Named after the ancient Tuscan grape variety Sapaia, this wine showcases a deep connection to the region. It features a classic blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Petit Verdot, and 10% Cabernet Franc, offering an elegant bouquet with notes of juicy cherry, dried raspberry, cedar, grilled herbs, and tobacco. The smooth tannins are well-balanced by lively acidity, making it enjoyable now and even more compelling for future cellaring.
BY GABBY FRENCH
(SRP $144) This wine boasts a deep ruby red hue, revealing an intricate bouquet of cherry, plum, and spice, underpinned by rich notes of leather, black pepper, and almonds. The spice tones are elevated by hints of mint and eucalyptus, a testament to the perfect Cabernet Franc vines. Layers of sweet tobacco leaf add depth, complemented by the smooth influence of vanilla and toffee from French oak barrels. The grapes, meticulously handpicked and vinified separately by varietal, underwent maceration and fermentation in stainless steel tanks for 25-30 days at a controlled temperature of 28-30°C. After completing malolactic fermentation in 225-liter French oak barrels, with half being new oak, the wine was aged for 18 months in barrels and an additional 12 months in the bottle before release, resulting in a complex and elegant wine.
(SRP $175) First produced in 1944, Vintage Selection is the ultimate expression of the Charles Krug portfolio, an elegant, artfully balanced wine that has stood the test of time. This wine features inviting aromas of sweet currant, toasted pecan, vanilla and cocoa nibs; the flavors are blackberry and raspberry, with a touch of violet and cacao. The elegant, creamy texture of the wine leads to a long complex fruit finish.
(SRP $240) This 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon, Yountville Old Vine is a testament to the complexity of flavors that are the result of caring for old vines. The wine is elegant and statuesque with aromas of blackberries, ripe blueberries, black currant, cinnamon and caramel. It is an age-worthy, dense and inky wine with surprisingly silky tannins that opens up to reveal more complex notes of red pepper, sandalwood and bay leaf. Enjoy this wine with roasted rack of lamb, Wagyu beef and truffled roasted fingerling potatoes.
(SRP $65) The 2022 Dundee Hills Pinot Noir touts all the hallmarks of our storied appellation. It begins with hints of ripe plum skin, ocean air, baking spices, and cocoa powder dustiness on the nose. The palate is just as expressive, with fresh, juicy red fruit backed by graceful tannins, a complex brininess, and a mouth-watering acidity. Finishing with spiced oak and a mouth-coating basalt minerality, this wine is great now and will be for years to come.

Atlanta-based artist, Greg Mike, takes you outside the box, but in between the lines.
By Kayla Ramos
Greg Mike hopes that viewers “take a visual ride,” with his work, which blends skateboard graphics, graffiti, and graphic design. Growing up, Mike’s admiration for icons like Keith Haring, Andy Warhol, and Salvador Dali shaped his visual concept. It wasn’t long before traditional art classes, consisting of figure models and landscapes, no longer held his attention.
Street art is the heartbeat of a city, breathing life into its walls and stories into its streets.”
Discovering graffiti art in cities like Atlanta and New York enabled Mike to break away from conventional art forms and gave him the freedom to use his imagination. “Graffiti is cooler. It’s something you do in the middle of the night with more characters and colors,” Mike shares.
One of Mike’s early inspirations came from his relative, Michael Whelan, whose artistic style of imaginative realism resonated with him. “I remember visiting his studio and trying to replicate these mythological dragons,” he laughs.
Mike pursued art as a career as nothing else outside of this creative space excited. “I’d rather starve than do something I don’t want to do,” he says. As an adult, Mike discovered graphic design –a new gateway into his artistic career. Formally trained at Florida State University, his training is evident in his mazes of clear lines and symmetry that establish balance in his work.
Today, Mike’s captivating work is characterized by striking colors, strong outlines, and a hint of nostalgia through the elements of light and shadow. Mike’s business stands on three main pillars: Greg Mike Art, ABV Agency, and ABV Gallery. Through Greg Mike Art, he shares his personal work, merchandise, and collaborations. ABV Agency works with over 500 artists globally and focuses on connecting artists with creative projects while overseeing and producing those projects. And ABV Gallery showcases non-commercial fine art for collectors.
“The design and aesthetics of the gallery were all designed with exhibition and art in mind,” says Mike. The brand new gallery showcases his latest creations: new paintings, sculptures, digital art, vinyl toys, apparel, and much more. I recently had the pleasure of attending the grand opening of Mike’s solo exhibition, “Chapter New,” at the newly renovated ABV Gallery, located in the heart of East Atlanta Village. Something that stood out to me was the windows; natural light cascades into the space, illuminating the artwork and enhancing the viewing experience. After three years of transforming the space, which was formerly a church, the gallery marks a new milestone in Mike’s impressive career.
As a student at Florida State Unviersity, Mike fell in love with Atlanta (the closest big city to him) during his visits and led him to planting roots here 20 years ago. The Atlanta-based artist’s mission is to bring people outside and have them engage with the world around them. “My motto is ‘Explore the creative unknown.’” Driven by a passion to add color to the streets and spark conversation through public art, his vision is reflected in local projects, OuterSpace Project and the beloved character, Larry Loudmouf.
Larry Loudmouf is a witty, chipped-tooth, bright-blue character who speaks the truth. Created fifteen years ago as a recurring character that Mike drew on stickers, Loudmouf has evolved into a community icon. People can submit their own sayings at www.gregmike.com/loudmouf-says to potentially be incorporated into murals and stickers. “It’s become the voice of a larger community,” say Mike.
Mike continues to fuse art and community with the OuterSpace Project, a weeklong holistic event in Atlanta featuring street art, music, and action sports like skateboarding. Now in its seventh year, the project, which returns to Atlanta in November, is committed to bringing different elements of culture together by enhancing outdoor spaces with positive energy.
“Explore the creative unknown”
Mike’s advice for aspiring artists is to “go out there and be consistent!” and to make small efforts toward a bigger picture rather than attempting to start with the full concept. He also stresses the importance of guarding your creative influences. “Be careful with your visual consumption,” he warns, noting how social media can cause subconscious mimicry among artists. Mike emphasizes the significance of networking and building genuine connections. “The more you give out and support and you’re engaged in a community, you’ll see that returned tenfold.” Mike encourages artists to attend gallery shows, festivals, and to lift up fellow artists. And in the face of challenges, he advises artists to “focus on what you can change and use the rest for fuel to motivate you for the next challenge. Get up and keep fighting.”

Castlegate reflects its celebrity homeowner’s affinity for color and style
Atlanta’s home scene is defined by understated luxury, where timeless Southern charm meets refined craftsmanship, and architecture strikes a balance between historic elegance and modern style.
These homes reflect a city that honors its past while embracing the present. “Castlegate,” a 1950s brick ranch nestled in the serene Kingswood neighborhood of Buckhead, perfectly captures this spirit.
Under the design guidance of Ryan Austin Hagood, founder and owner of r.a.d. Interiors, Castlegate underwent a dramatic transformation that preserved its natural Buckhead charm while incorporating the unique personality of its then owner, a beloved internationally known actress. The renovations created a stylish and welcoming retreat for the actress and her family while they lived in Atlanta during filming.
Initially, the focus was placed upon furnishings – with a quick, eight-week timeframe to design, procure, and install all furniture, fixtures and equipment – and select interior updates, such as new wood floors, fresh paint, and layered wallpaper.
As the family settled into their new Atlanta home, the style and functionality of the original floor plan and existing finishes prompted Hagood to make dramatic architectural and stylistic modifications to the home, significantly expanding its square footage to better suit his and the owners’ vision.
Hagood knew that a key architectural enhancement, the addition of a full roof over an enclosed screened loggia, would not only expand the living space but also strengthen the home’s connection to the outdoors, offering a prime vantage point for enjoying the lush lawns and pool area.
Inside the home, Hagood’s creativity and keen eye for detail are on full display, skillfully balancing bold patterns with soft textures and neutral tones to create a fluid and inviting atmosphere.
Hagood’s design ingenuity is particularly evident in the striking “Graffiti Bath” space. “The wallpaper was initially a bold choice,” he recalls. “But a thoughtfully selected matte black paint perfectly anchored the vibrant pattern to create a cohesive design.” This interplay of daring and restraint is a hallmark of Hagood’s design approach: crafting spaces that are vibrantly balanced.
In the living room, Hagood embraced moody textures and a rich-hued color palette, layering elements to evoke a sense of depth and warmth. He designed for the scale of the narrow space, anchoring it with a self-customized, 13-foot upholstered Chesterfield sofa, leading to the client fondly referring to the finished space as the “Tom Ford” room.
Moving to the dining area, Hagood’s bold design narrative continues with a striking mural that creates a captivating book-match effect on the focal wall, adding symmetry and visual intrigue. An antique, mirror-topped dining table further enhances the space, reflecting light from the giant tassel chandelier for abstract textures that bring balance and cohesion. Castlegate, reimagined by Hagood, became one of the most breathtaking and upscale homes in the area, featuring expansive porches, grand entryways, and interiors rich in texture, patterns, and stunning colors, all set against a backdrop of lush, meticulously landscaped grounds.
The result, as Hagood describes it, is “a Southern, midcentury traditional Buckhead home with a bohemian Southern California soul,” deeply connected to its surroundings and the personality of its new inhabitants.

Just outside Beijing, China is a quieter city known as Tianjin. As a major port in the northeastern region of the country, the city is accessible through a highspeed train that covers roughly 70 miles from Beijing in less than 35 minutes. Tianjin is colored with foreign influence which can be seen through its assortment of churches and villas. However, it is not the beautiful facades of historical buildings that bring visitors to the province. Rather, it is the unique topography and breathtaking bookshelves of the Tianjin Binhai Library that is generating much buzz.
BY LOANNIE DAO | PHOTOS BY
The library itself is part of a larger master plan commissioned by the Tianjin Binhai Municipality and designed by an international team of architects including Bernard Tschumi Architects, Bing Thom Architects, HH Design and GMP. Five buildings will showcase the city’s cultural power and increase tourism, covering up to 1.3 million square feet. The plan includes a show center with 1,400 seats, an experimental theatre with a comprehensive multi-purpose area, an exploration hall to display architectural art and industrial design, a citizen activity center with public service facilities, a cultural corridor with public space and transportation, and its focal point, the Tianjin Binhai Library. (All five buildings are connected by a public corridor with a glass canopy designed by GMP.)
As part of the Binhai Cultural Center, the Tianjin Bin-
hai Library is the brainchild of architectural design firm MVRDV (based in Rotterdam, Netherlands) in collaboration with Tianjin Urban Planning and Design Institute (TUPDI). “We responded to the need for a unique library building that is within a zone of five unique architectural gems by Bernard Tschumi Architects, Bing Thom Architects and HH Design,” Maria Lopez, a senior project leader at MVRDV, told me. In addition to this, and due to constraints in scheduling, the project sped through the design phase to construction in less than three years. Where a project this scale would typically take 10 years or more to finish, the completion of the library was truly remarkable. The doors to the Tianjin Binhai Library officially opened in the summer of 2017.
The Library stands as the most prominent feature of the five cultural buildings, boast-
ing over 362,000 square feet of space. “ e plot is situated between the cultural corridor designed by GMP’s master plan and Zhongyang Avenue road,” Lopez explains. Adding that the space was conceptualized to replicate an urban living room, she says, “the brief was to create a new library as part of a larger master plan in order to transform Tianjin Binhai cultural district into a world-class area between the city and public park nearby.”
e entire program revolves around the luminous sphere. “For this project the main challenge was to create a design that was ambitious and rethink the typology for a library, so it is
no longer a dull and depressing environment.” Lopez explained, “the idea of the ball, as a central district performance auditorium, pushes the space away to create the cave-like public atrium and the accessibility from city and park side contributed to design.” Nicknamed e Eye of Binhai, the translucent sphere that anchors the ve cultural buildings is the focal point of the library. e sphere’s iris perforates out through the building’s polished exterior and onto a neighboring park, functioning as an auditorium with a capacity to hold 110 people.
e rst thing visitors notice is the rolling topography of the bookshelves surrounding e
“The angles and curves are meant to stimulate different uses of the space, such as reading, walking, meeting and discussing.”
e Eye of Binhai. “Not being able to touch the building’s volume we ‘rolled’ the ball-shaped auditorium demanded by the brief into the building and the building simply made space for it.” Winy Maas, co-founder of MVRDV explained in a recent press release. “ e angles and curves are meant to stimulate di erent uses of the space, such as reading, walking, meeting and discussing. Together they form the ‘eye’ of the building: to see and be seen.” While its collection of books is expected to reach 1.35 million, the distant and unattainable shelves on the library’s interior walls above are actually stocked with digitally printed images of books. However, the library does not fall short in its o ering. e monumental main room is primarily intended for socialization and reading. With roughly 200,000 books available, the jaw-dropping landscape of shelves is also equipped with 1,500 seats in its reading area.
e ve-story book lover’s fantasy displays oor-to-ceiling bookcases that cascade the walls. e lower level is supported by subterranean service spaces, book storage, and a large archive. Along the perimeter of the interior and accessed through the main hall are educa-
tional facilities. e ground level allows visitors to easily access the reading lounge, the auditorium, and the main entrance. Lopez says, “it becomes a social space that also promotes reading and inspiration.” e rst and second oors consist primarily of reading rooms, meeting rooms, o ces, computer and audio rooms and two roo op patios. e contours continue along the two full glass facades and connect it to the adjacent public corridor outside. Although access to the upper bookshelves from behind the atrium was not included in the nal construction phase, there are talks about amendments underway to realize the full version of the library in the future.
Tianjin Binhai Library is MVRDV’s second completed project in Tianjin. The library’s predecessor was the TEDA Urban Fabric, a 3 million square-foot mixed-use high and lowrise housing and retail complex that was completed in 2009. MVRDV’s design approach focuses on the urban landscape, the public realm, and the influence of architecture on the everyday lives of its inhabitants and users.

As we approach the final quarter of the year, it's essential to finetune your financial strategies to help you close out the year on a high note. Whether you're a seasoned investor or looking to bolster your financial portfolio, these five wealth strategies will help you maximize returns and secure your financial future.
Q4 is an excellent time to reassess your investment portfolio. Market conditions can change rapidly, and what worked in Q1 might not be as effective now. Analyze your asset allocation and consider rebalancing your portfolio to reflect current market trends. Diversifying across different sectors and asset classes can reduce risk and increase your chances of a strong year-end performance.
2 MAXIMIZE TAX EFFICIENCY
Tax planning should be a year-round activity, but Q4 is a critical time to help you’re taking advantage of all available deductions and credits. Consider strategies like taxloss harvesting, contributing to tax-advantaged accounts (such as IRAs or 401(k)s), and making charitable donations. Consulting with a tax advisor now can save you significant amounts come tax season.
The end of the year often presents unique investment opportunities, such as IPOs, seasonal stock trends, or high-yield bonds. Carefully consider where to allocate any excess capital. Additionally, review any underperforming assets and consider divesting them to reinvest in more promising opportunities. This strategic positioning can set you up for growth going into the new year.
4 PLAN FOR FUTURE WEALTH TRANSFER
Q4 is an ideal time to review your estate planning and wealth transfer strategies. Make sure your estate plan is up-to-date, particularly if you’ve had significant life changes like marriage, divorce, or the birth of a child. Consider gifting strategies to reduce estate taxes and facilitate the smooth transfer of wealth to your heirs. Trusts and other financial instruments can also be explored to protect your legacy.
5 PREPARE FOR MARKET VOLATILITY
The final quarter of the year can be unpredictable, with market fluctuations influenced by year-end corporate reports, holiday spending, and global events. Protect your wealth by staying informed and being ready to act swiftly. Options such as hedging, increasing cash reserves, or shifting to more stable investments can help mitigate potential losses.
Incorporating these wealth strategies as you head into Q4 will help you navigate the nal months of the year with con dence and set the stage for continued prosperity in the new year.
Whether you’re looking to optimize tax efficiency, rebalance your portfolio, or safeguard your legacy, a proactive approach now will help you remain on track to achieve your financial goals.
