DEAR READER, Spring has always felt honest to me. Not flashy. Not forced. Just honest.

Growth doesn’t happen overnight; it happens quietly, beneath the surface, long before anyone sees the result. And in a city like Atlanta, where ambition moves fast, and reinvention is almost expected, it’s easy to forget that real transformation takes time.

I didn’t grow up in chaos. I was raised in Fort Lauderdale, surrounded by sunshine and stability. My parents worked hard. They showed up.

They gave my brother and me structure, discipline, and support. They didn’t hand us shortcuts, but they were always there: steady, consistent, present. That foundation shaped the way I view opportunity, risk, and responsibility. But not everyone begins with that kind of footing.

Some people start from places far more complicated. And what always inspires me most isn’t perfection, it’s evolution. It’s the decision to rise anyway, to refine, to build something greater than where you began.

That’s why this issue feels especially powerful.

Our cover features Marlo Hampton, a woman whose journey reflects resilience and reinvention. Beyond the headlines and the spotlight is a story of growth, of navigating adversity, of stepping into rooms that weren’t always built for you and owning them anyway. There’s something very Atlanta about that.

As I sit down to write this letter from my grandfather’s home in South Florida, I am reminded just how much life one person can live. He is about to turn 98, and every visit seems to come with another story. Over the years, he has seen cities grow, seasons change, and entire chapters of life unfold in ways most of us can only imagine.

Spending time with him always reminds me how quickly time moves and how important it is to appreciate the moments as they come. Yes, the years pass, but the experiences we collect along the way are what stay with us.

It feels fitting to be thinking about that as spring arrives in Atlanta. The season always feels like a fresh start for the city.

One day, patios are full, and the BeltLine is crowded again.

The next day, we are reminded winter is not quite finished yet as we struggle to find the jackets we thought were ready to be buried in our closets. But when the sun finally settles in, Atlanta wakes up in the best, brightest way.

It feels like the perfect moment for this issue.

I am so excited to share my time in Mexico exploring the region’s incredible culinary scene. Travel always has a way of sparking inspiration for me, especially when great food and hospitality are involved, and bringing a piece of that experience onto these pages was something I could not wait to do.

For readers who love a great estate story, this issue offers a beautiful one. Realtor Jan Hart introduces us to the Tara Trail estate, a property that feels almost hidden within the city.

Tara Trail reminds me how thoughtful design and a sense of place can transform everyday living into something truly extraordinary. I almost packed my bags and moved in!

From there, the stories continue with people whose work invites you to take a closer look. TaShi Shiimi-ya-Shiimi of TaTe Diamonds shares the philosophy behind his diamond process, rooted in transparency and origin, while photographer Brad Walls transforms architecture and geometry into art through his mesmerizing aerial compositions. My visit to Bar Blanc reminded me how much atmosphere truly shapes a dining experience. French classics and a softly lit room pretty much sum up the key to my heart.

DECEMBER St. Barths New Year’s New Year’s in St Barths draws one of the largest gatherings of superyachts in the world, even rivaling Monaco during the Grand Prix, with over 220 vessels anchored around the island. At Brassica, French technique is layered with Southern influence, and menus evolve seasonally through close relationships with regional purveyors. On Friday evenings, live music introduces a subtle shift in energy without disrupting the room’s composed tone. Just beyond, the hotel’s private English garden offers an additional layer of retreat, an unexpected pocket of greenery set within one of Atlanta’s busiest commercial corridors.

Wellness provides another dimension of escape. The two-story Waldorf Astoria Spa spans 15,000 square feet and includes vitality pools, dry saunas, steam rooms, and relaxation lounges designed for lingering rather than rushing. Perched above Little Sparrow, in the Westside Provisions District, is where you’ll find Bar Blanc. Chef/restaurateur Ford Fry has transformed his former JCT Bar space into an intimate, French-inspired barroom where atmosphere is everything. Chef Fry’s restaurants are known for their impeccable design and this space is no different; the design is simple but intentional, creating a romantic, effortless mood.

A drink is essential; I recommend starting with a Kir Royale, it's crisp and refreshing, and exactly the sort of aperitif this room calls for. It definitely set the tone that Bar Blanc favors: classic structure and quiet confidence over excess or new-age experimentation.

Dinner at Bar Blanc follows a singular format. Offering one prix fixe menu, Bar Blanc eliminates the need for decisionmaking entirely. A huge luxury in itself.

Dinner starts with bread and salad for the table, followed by steak with béarnaise and a steady supply of pommes frites, which alone are worth the visit.

The bar is central to the experience, both inside and out. Velvet seating and mosaic tile floors define the interior, while the terrace feels equally intentional, drawing guests outside as naturally as they were drawn in.

On Fridays, Bar Blanc introduces a lighter, midday ritual with French Dip at Bar Blanc. Beginning on Fridays at 11 am, the kitchen serves two coastal-inspired takes on the classic sandwich, both made with 12-hour roasted prime rib and horseradish mayo. The East Coast style leans richer with caramelized onions and melted cheese, while the West Coast keeps things pared back with shaved meat and jus. The same delicious pommes frites are available on the side. A classic hip-hop playlist gives the afternoon an easy, unexpected edge.

There is so much more to Marlo Hampton than all the glitz, glamour, and fashion labels. Best known for her decade-long tenure on Bravo’s The Real Housewives of Atlanta, Marlo is excited for people to see who she truly is with this feature and her upcoming episode on docuseries, Uncensored.

When Marlo enters the room, her presence is palpable. Her energy is golden, her smile is disarming, and she slips your name into the conversation so easily that you feel as though you’ve known her for years. She embodies an Aquarius to the core: independent, humanitarian, creative, honest, and strong.

As a fellow Aquarian, I feel as though we deeply understand one another during our chat in the St. Regis Bar as we sip red wine margaritas from crystal coupe glasses.

As a child growing up on Florida’s gulf coast (Clearwater and St. Petersburg), Marlo recalls going to the store with food stamps to buy one piece of candy to make enough change for her mother Emma’s cigarettes.

Life was unpredictable back then, but the one bright spot and constant for Marlo was fashion. “Even though we shopped at Goodwill, we were the best dressed kids in the projects. I picked out things that were different – cute little dresses.” Her fashion choices were so stylish that they were stolen straight from the clothesline outside.

Marlo entered the foster care system because of Emma’s substance abuse problem. It wasn’t easy for young Marlo, who hauled her belongings around in a garbage bag and felt like a paycheck to these foster families.

During this period, she lived in five different

foster homes. “God put me with Arrie, my foster grandmother [her fifth home], who changed my entire life.” With Arrie and Mildred (Marlo’s godmother), Marlo finally experienced unconditional love.

“And the beauty in it, Vanessa, are you ready for this? Both were Aquarius, and they loved me not wanting anything in return.

They just wanted me to be great, me to love myself, and to know that I was valued. They are both in heaven now. My mom loved me, too, she just had a sickness. But I love my mom; I love all three of my moms.”

Because of what she has been through, Marlo understands more than anyone the importance of love and safety, especially for children. So, when Marlo’s older sister needed help with her youngest sons, Michael and William, seven years ago, Marlo stepped in as mom. “It was the best thing that ever could have happened to me, even though I didn’t feel like it at first.” Life changed drastically for Marlo, who went from going out whenever she wanted, to attending teacher conferences instead. “I am just happy that I put on my biggirl panties, so that my boys could avoid foster care. It just goes to show you that you can do anything you put your mind to.” Today, Michael is a freshman at Howard University and William is in 10th grade.

Marlo’s desire to pay it forward didn't stop there. In 2011, she established her nonprofit, Glam it Up. Their mission is to transform the lives of girls in foster care by fostering empowering relationships, building confidence, and providing comprehensive support. “I want the girls to know: You are worthy of sitting at the St. Regis. You are worthy of going to a 5-star restaurant. You are worthy of anything that you dream, and you can achieve it.” Marlo loves lavishing the girls with 5-star experiences. “I've taken them to prom, Neiman Marcus for brunch, Sugar Factory. They have my number. ‘Ms. Marlo, my foster mom is doing this,’ or ‘I need this.’ We had our last Christmas party at Bloomingdale’s, and the manager told the girls, ‘When you graduate, if you want a job, come back here and say you came here with Ms. Marlo, and I will give you a job.’ I want to get them out of the hood. I want them to dream and want bigger,” says Marlo.

Bringing the glitz and glamour is something that comes naturally for Marlo, who has always found comfort, refuge and happiness in beautiful clothing. She took her passion and created a career from it. When she first moved to Atlanta, she worked at a men’s store in Decatur. As soon as she discovered Buckhead, she had to be there, and becoming a fashion stylist was her ticket in.

“That was twentysomething years ago. I got some little red cards: If your style isn't becoming to you, you should be coming to me.” A tagline she credits to a hair salon.

By passing out her red cards, she built a clientele that includes Jazze Pha, Yung Joc, and Toya Johnson, and opened The Red Carpet Boutique at Perimeter Mall with her girlfriend. “The Who's Who was shopping with us. We went to New York, to the trade shows. Didn't know what we were doing, didn't know how we were going to pay the

rent at Perimeter Mall. We just figured it out from having a dream and belief.” Her stunning collection boasts pieces by the top fashion houses --Fendi, Chanel, Tom Ford—and have been featured in magazines, on television, and red carpets. Marlo’s inventory is now available through her digital showroom, Lé Archive, and is a go-to for leading wardrobe stylists, fashion directors, and tastemakers.

Most recently, Marlo filmed an episode of the edgy docuseries, Uncensored, allowing viewers to dive deeper into her story. It was an emotional experience for Marlo, who touches on the home invasion that she and her nephews went through. “It was the scariest thing.” The three had just returned from vacation; Marlo was asleep when she heard a boom and William scream. “I had never heard that scream before… I looked at the cameras; there were three or four men with guns coming into my home. To this day, I don't sleep well… For someone to break into my house to steal some purses and shoes…” she recalls. Fortunately, The Sandy Spring Police Department eventually caught the intruders. “Right now, something drops in my house, I'm like, what is that?! I'm strong, because I have to protect my boys.

They're okay; I am not. They're like, ‘Auntie, you have to pray about it.’ That was really, really tough.” Filming the episode made Marlo feel seen and heard. “I want viewers to take away that I am human. There is so much more to me than Chanel, Gucci, Louis.”

You just turned 50, how does it feel?

“It feels good. I'm gonna be honest. At first, I'm like, ‘Oh my God, I'm 50 years old. What am I doing?’ Look, it feels good. I just had a great trip where I meditated. I sat on the beach. I enjoyed just being here. Knowing there's so many people that didn't make it to 50. I'm just looking forward to this new chapter.”

You were on The Real Housewives of Atlanta for ten years (since Season Four), is there anything you want to clear up?

“One thing that's definitely a lie: I never dated Ted Turner, but I don’t date broke. [Marlo has a t-shirt line with this sentiment.] I am not a bitch.

I wear my heart on my sleeve. I'm very real–you know, you're an Aquarius. When we love you, we love you.”

You’ve been through so much; what would you tell somebody who is going through something challenging?

“Find something that you're passionate about.

Look in the mirror every day and tell yourself how beautiful you are. I would tell them, the world is yours. Every day, you have to journal it or write it down: ‘I'm going to do this. I am better than this.’ I always knew God had something else for me. I knew the hood was just not it. You always have to want more.”

Do you believe in manifestation?

“I do. Absolutely. I feel like you have to speak it.

Your words are powerful. Last Sunday, the pastor just said how powerful the tongue is. Speak it, put it into existence.”

Do you believe certain things are fated to happen?

“First of all, you know we’re both Aquarius and we believe what's meant to be is going to be. I do.

I felt my story was written for me. Going through all the trials and tribulations, to this, to that. To be sitting at this table with you today, I never would have seen that. I never saw myself raising two boys by myself, that I did not birth. I just feel that you have to live your best life, do right by people, and trust the process, and I trusted it.”

So, what's next?

“Continue to make Glam It Up bigger and continue to make a difference in these girls' lives, because those girls were me. Making Lé Archive huge. Hopefully, you see me all over the world, any state you go to. I have a couple more little things. You may see me back on your television soon… I would love a game like Traitors or Love Island. I would love to find true love. I'm single. If I get back into acting classes, maybe you'll see me on a TV show or in a film.”

“Just live your best life. Don't be afraid.

People are going to judge you. Get uncomfortable. Walk into rooms where they say you don't belong because you belong any place you can walk into.

And don't let anyone else write your story, write your own story!”

love story.

Diamonds are often introduced by their sparkle. At TaTe Diamonds, they are introduced

by their story.

Founder TaShi Shiimi-ya-Shiimi, who is often referred to as the King of Diamonds, believes the beauty of a diamond has never been separated from where it comes from or who stands behind it.

Before launching TaTe Diamonds in 2015, he spent years working inside the global diamond industry, watching Namibia’s stones travel the world while their origins quietly disappeared along the way. The diamonds were celebrated, but the people and place they came from were rarely acknowledged.

Raised in Namibia during the final years of apartheid, Shiimi-ya-Shiimi grew up witnessing his country’s transition into independence. That experience shaped his belief in perseverance, ownership, and representation. Today, those values sit at the core of TaTe Diamonds, now headquartered

in Buckhead as the only fully Namibianowned, vertically integrated diamond house opening in the United States.

“When I started TaTe Diamonds, I had already worked in the diamond space for about seven years,” he says. “What I realized was that the diamond story was being told, but it was faceless. Namibia was there, but Namibians were not.”

TaTe Diamonds was built to change that narrative. Every diamond sold in the showroom follows a true “mine-tofinger” journey, overseen entirely by the brand. Rather than passing through the traditional global trading system, TaTe diamonds are recovered from the bottom of the Namibian Ocean and sent directly to the company’s own cutting and polishing factory in Namibia.

From there, each stone is shaped and polished in-house before briefly leaving TaTe’s ecosystem for certification by the Gemological Institute of America. In addition to grading, a GIA laser inscribes a unique serial number and the TaTe name directly onto each diamond, a distinction no other brand in the industry holds, fully authenticating its origin before the diamond ever reaches a client.

Most diamonds touch as many as fifteen hands before arriving at a jewelry counter. At TaTe, that number is three.

“That level of transparency is very rare in this industry,” Shiimi-ya-Shiimi explains. “We know exactly where our diamonds come from, how they were handled, and where they end up.”

Namibian diamonds are prized for a reason.

Unlike stones sourced elsewhere, they take a unique natural path, traveling through the Orange River into the Atlantic Ocean. Over time, only the strongest stones survive, naturally polished by water and movement. The result is a diamond known for exceptional purity, brilliance, and fire.

“We know Namibia does not produce the largest volume of diamonds in the world, but our diamonds command the highest prices globally because of their undeniable quality.”

That sense of heritage carries through TaTe’s designs. Collections often draw inspiration directly from Namibia, including the upcoming Osino Collection, named after the oryx, the country’s national animal. Known for surviving alone in harsh desert environments, the oryx became the perfect symbol for TaTe’s solitaire rings. “It’s resilient, elegant, and powerful on its own,” Shiimi-ya-Shiimi says. “That’s how I think about a solitaire diamond.”

Inside the Buckhead showroom, clients arrive with varying levels of familiarity. Some come seeking a fully custom piece, already drawn to Namibian diamonds. Others are discovering TaTe for the first time, browsing collections as they learn the story behind each stone.

When designing custom engagement rings, Shiimiya-Shiimi listens closely to emotion first. “What do you want this piece to say about you, your partner, and your journey together?” he asks. “That matters more than trends.”

Style, shape, and personality follow. From elongated cushions to classic solitaires, each design is shaped around the client while remaining unmistakably TaTe. Ethics and education remain central to the brand. Many clients arrive with outdated perceptions of the diamond industry.

TaTe addresses those concerns through transparency, visual storytelling, and direct conversation, often pointing to footage from the Namibian factory playing throughout the showroom.

“Our impact is not abstract,” he says. “Every diamond sold supports families back home.

That is part of the story, too.”

The decision to open in Buckhead was intentional. Atlanta offered growth without saturation, and Buckhead provided a luxury landscape aligned with TaTe’s positioning.

Today, the showroom attracts clients from across the country and abroad, with pieces traveling as far as Europe and the Caribbean.

Looking ahead, Shiimi-ya-Shiimi sees TaTe Diamonds as more than a luxury brand. He sees it as a benchmark. “When people think of the best diamonds in the world, I want them to think of TaTe. And when they think of TaTe, I want them to think of Namibia.”

Artist Lowkey Lyss and I are in Kai Lin Art Gallery admiring their realistic signs and balloons expertly carved from wood and airbrushed to perfection.

These art pieces were a part of a group showcase that took place last December. In preparation for a new show, gallery owner Yu-Kai Lin relocated the pieces to the entry. “I'm happy to have it here,” Lowkey says of the prime location.

Lowkey’s recent art is bold, familiar, realistic, and most importantly, represents their emotional journey. “All the work that I'm working on now, for the most part, is in relation to my experience in the past couple years. My mother [Teresa] passed a couple years ago and I'm kind of exploring emotions a little deeper. These WTF balloons are basically my whole year 2025. Like, what the f*** is going on?”

These are Lowkey’s first airbrushed works of art and are incredibly meaningful as they used Teresa’s airbrush compressor from the ’80s. Art is a way for Lowkey to feel connected to their mom, who taught them the basics as a child. The two would doodle together in church. “I didn't realize until I got older how much of an impact that had on me.

I had no clue I was going to be an artist, but the

signs were there. I had the talent. I had the drive to do it, and I just did it. By the time I was born, she had completely stopped painting. I figured out airbrushing on my own last year.”

Airbrushing is a way for Lowkey to bring Teresa into their work. The technique took months to perfect, and it didn’t help that Teresa’s airbrush compressor broke midway through the project. “I didn't know what to do. I had to go buy a new one and figure that one out. It's not an easy tool to use versus a paintbrush.” The completed works turned out beautiful and hyper realistic.

Art has been the best therapy for Lowkey, and these specific pieces have been their most therapeutic pieces created to date. “Painting comes so naturally that I have nothing else to do but sit there with my thoughts. I will process conversations I've had with people, experiences I've had. That's when I dig deeper into myself the most.”

Airbrushing and woodworking is a departure from the art that Lowkey first captivated Atlanta’s community with. In 2017, Lowkey moved from Fort Lauderdale, Florida to Atlanta. That summer, AT L A N TAV U E .CO M 5 9

the budding artist cut their teeth on pop-culture mashups.

Lowkey found success immediately by creating 16x20 paintings that fused opposing parts of ’90s-2000s American pop culture, namely, cartoons with music that they sold on the sidewalks of Atlanta’s Little Five Points neighborhood.

Lowkey’s affinity for ’90s and early 2000s music, dance, and media resonated with Atlanta’s community. “People took a liking to it. I kept hearing, ‘You should be in the gallery.’

A couple years ago, when I started getting involved in Atlanta’s art community, I came to a Nike pop-up down the street. I saw this gallery, and I was like, ‘Wow, I think I could be in that gallery.’ Like, six years later, I'm in here. There were signs.” And that is the name of the painted configuration of six, semi-modified construction signs hung before us: There Were Signs.

“Whatever path you're on, it's your path. Just follow the signs.

Follow your intuition. Follow your path, it’s made for you to be successful. Every time I'm stressed out: where am I going?

What am I doing? Honestly, it's going to happen the way it needs to happen because it's written, that's how I look at it.”

Going from selling their work on the sidewalks to selling in a gallery took determination, resilience, and mental strength. Lowkey put in the work as an artist while also working jobs at Starbucks and Waffle House. “I am real Atlanta,” Lowkey laughs. “Never give up. This is my everything. This is what I have to remember my mother, and I have to keep going, because that's the last thing she saw me doing,” says Lowkey, who is simply happy to have a reason to talk about her.

For two years now, Lowkey has been a full-time artist, creating for upcoming gallery shows and working on commissions for brands and people that include signs, coffee tables and products. “I've done that ever since I started working with wood and that has sustained me and helped me fund my work and my personal endeavors.” The self-taught artist does everything on their own, from the woodcutting to marketing (recording, videos, website).

Now, Lowkey is going in a different direction with their work.

They want to dive deeper into their range artistically and have been enjoying working more with wood, airbrushing, realism and tangible things. Lowkey is currently working on art for their upcoming solo show this year, called Black on Both Sides.

The show will highlight their half American, half Jamaican heritage. “It's a very big difference in cultures, but there are very much a lot of parallels. The first piece I worked on is an American flag, but it's in Jamaican colors. Most of my work is going to be nostalgia mixed in with some realistic elements. I have a ton of ideas that I just need to get out of my head and work on. I'm working with new materials right now; working on some personal stuff for myself.”

Nasty Nice “Did you read what the heart-shaped balloon says? It says, ‘I hate you.’ It looks sort of like, ‘I love you.’ I did that on purpose.

I'm from South Florida. We don't have that nasty niceness that Southerners have. We are direct. I moved to the South and I'm like, ‘She likes me. She's awesome.’ No, she actually doesn't. She hates me. That's what made me do this piece.”

Emotion Balloons “The balloons have different emotions.

Emotions are a gift; that's what I got from what I've been going through these past few years. I'm glad I can at least feel something.

All of my emotions: happy, sad, whatever it is. And balloons are gifts. Whatever you're feeling, take it in, be glad you feel something, because I got to a point where I was completely numb and that was horrible.

I just really wanted to play on emotions and some juxtaposition with the wounds.

You're gonna see hearts, a smiley face but all of those other emotions matter and they should be represented. I want to make smaller balloons, like the little ones on the stick that say a little more obscene things that aren’t, ‘Get Well,’-- the opposite.”

How did you connect with Yu-Kai Lin of Kai Lin Art? “I would show up to openings and build that rapport with him. Another artist that I really appreciated, Philip Carpenter, he does a lot of realism, drawings.

I showed him my smaller balloons and he was like, ‘You should show it to YuKai.’ I was like, ‘You think so?’ I sent Yu-Kai some images and he instantly was like, ‘Hey, can you put those in the gallery?’ And I'm like, ‘Wow, that was easy!’ That little push from somebody, ‘Hey, why aren't you thinking this way?’

You're like, ‘You're right, why not?’ Art gave me the confidence that I have now.

I was very quiet, very shy. That's why I go by Lowkey, because when I would introduce myself, people would be like, ‘You're really low-key.’ So, I just went with it. I like the ambiguity of who I am, and it gives people this curiosity of me and what I have going on.”

Don’t Slip “Like I said, a lot of things are connected with my grief and that process. My mom was a custodian for the school board for over 21 years, and I used to go to work with her all the time. I wanted to do something to pay homage to her. But this is a song. It was one of my favorite rap songs, ‘Throw Some D’s’

by Rich Boy. He was like, ‘I never slip. I never fall.’ It's a song that reminds me of my childhood, and one of the few rap songs that I actually know all the lyrics to. I'm not a big rap person, but I like early 2000s music.”

Some dinners end with dessert. The good ones end with stories.

I noticed it twice. Once by the coast in Riviera Maya, and again, days later, in the middle of Mexico City. Plates were cleared, but no one moved. Chefs joined the table, and conversations stretched past whatever schedule had been planned. That was my first real understanding of Marriott’s Supper Club. It is not designed around a menu or a moment. It is built around what happens when people are given permission to stay.

The Supper Club brings together chefs from across Latin America and the Caribbean, each rooted in their own traditions and local ingredients, to create dinners that feel personal rather than performative. Though I experienced it in two very different settings, the idea remained the same. A traveling table shaped by place, culture, and the belief that the best meals are the ones that leave room for conversation.

My first stop was Riviera Maya.

Riviera Maya EDITION at Kanai

The Riviera Maya EDITION at Kanai feels intentionally removed from urgency, a sensibility that traces back to Ian Schrager, the hotelier and Studio 54 co-founder behind the EDITION brand.

Long before luxury became about checklists and excess, Schrager understood how atmosphere can shape the way people feel in a space. That philosophy carries through here. Built above a 620-acre nature reserve, the property sits above a forest of mangroves. Architecture curves with the land, columns are placed with care, and large portions of the landscape are intentionally left untouched. And you certainly feel that decision the moment you arrive.

As the first EDITION in Mexico, the property brings that same intentionality to its culinary point of view. Two of Mexico’s most respected chef-restaurateurs, Francisco “Paco” Ruano and Tomas Bermudez, anchor the experience across the resort’s dining venues. Ruano’s tasting menu leans thoughtful and precise, while Bermudez brings a more relaxed, Mediterranean sensibility to the SO’OL Beach Club. Together, they reflect the duality of the Yucatán itself, rooted in tradition.

Everything here feels designed to live in harmony with its surroundings, from the cenote-inspired spa to the way the property moves quietly through ancient Mayan land. Kanai, which means 'paradise on earth,' does not feel like a word used to simply impress. It feels intentional and deeply tied to where it sits.

Before I left, they handed me a candle infused with the EDITION’s signature scent. I light it now whenever I sit down to write. It takes me right back to Kanai in a way photos never quite can.

KI’IS Dinner at KI’IS made the property’s philosophy feel real. The restaurant is led by Chef Francisco “Paco” Ruano, a Guadalajara-born chef whose cooking feels thoughtful and deeply rooted without ever leaning heavily. His approach is not about reinvention for its own sake, but about letting ingredients speak and tradition guide without confining them.

That sensibility certainly showed up on the plate. Chef Ruano served a pumpkin salad to start, followed by a bright green aguachile that tasted of the coast. As the courses continued, dishes like chaya tamal and tuna tlayuda kept everything grounded. And if you appreciate a good cocktail, the “Kukulkan” is worth ordering. It fits the mood perfectly. Nothing at KI’IS felt rushed or overworked.

His cooking feels especially at home here, mirroring the property's pace, where the meal unfolds slowly and conversation is given as much space as the food.

Leaving the quiet of Riviera Maya behind, a quick flight north brought a different kind of energy.

by Executive Chef Rodrigo Sánchez. The menu moves easily between traditional and contemporary Mexican and Latin American flavors, grounded in local history and shaped by a clear respect for technique and ingredients.

Just like KI’IS, nothing feels forced here. Each dish reads as part of a larger story rather than a standalone moment.

What stands out most is the sense of control.

The flavors are bold, but never loud. Tradition is honored, but not frozen in time. Sánchez’s approach feels thoughtful and assured, built on a deep understanding of where the food comes from and why it matters. In a city known for its culinary weight, Sendero does not try to compete, it just simply belongs.

Between meals, I found myself back exploring the bustling streets of Polanco. A walk around the neighborhood was enough to clear the palate, shake off the table, and make room for whatever came next.

Throughout this experience, what stayed with me most was how naturally the Supper Club moved between these two places. Riviera Maya and Mexico City could not feel more different, yet nothing about the experience felt out of place. The Supper Club is not really about geography, it is about people.

Across Latin America and the Caribbean, the series creates a kind of moving community, one that values exchange and conversation. Chefs step into the role of storytellers, and their dishes carry memory as much as their flavor.

Long after the plates were cleared, what stayed was the sense that no one was ready to leave.

Conversations faded in and out, and for me, time stopped feeling urgent. It was a reminder that the best travel moments often happen when plans fall away.

You don't need to understand aerial photography to understand Brad Walls’ work. You just need to look closely.

From a top-down perspective, his work invites you to “stare awhile." Dancers curl into sculptural forms. Swimmers align in quiet repetition. Space is treated with the same care as the bodies within. What you are looking at feels both soft and precise, like something carefully built and gently held.

Walls works from above for clarity. Shooting straight down using drones, cranes, and carefully rigged cameras, he removes excess and distraction.

The height allows him to simplify the scene, turning movement into form and choreography into composition. The result is an aerial style that feels intimate rather than distant.

Walls talks about control in the same way people talk about comfort.

Not as something restrictive or rigid, but as something grounding.

He has a way of knowing exactly what he is building before he begins.

In his work, nothing is accidental.

Bodies are placed with intention, color is chosen deliberately, and every detail is considered long before the camera goes up. What might read as effortless is the result of true rigorous planning.

In his 20s, Walls worked in tech as a product designer, immersed in structures, systems, and problemsolving. That way of thinking still shapes how he approaches photography. Before the camera is ever in the air, he is already visualizing the frame, anticipating the movement, and thinking through how each element will relate to the next. That discipline becomes especially apparent when people enter the frame. Walls is drawn to performers whose bodies already understand control,

like swimmers, dancers, and gymnasts. Their movements are precise and practiced. From above, those movements read differently.

Patterns blend. Lines form. And the choreography reveals itself.

“The human brain is drawn to things that make sense,” Walls says.

“There’s a calmness in symmetry.”

Architecture informs much of his visual language. Alignment and negative space guide the eye and create balance within the frame.

The space surrounding the subject becomes just as important as the subject itself, giving the image room to breathe.

Sport, for Walls, offered an opportunity to see something familiar in a new way. Athletic photography has long focused on action and immediacy. His approach definitely slows it down. When viewed from above, intensity softens. Effort becomes elegance. Movement settles, and there's stillness within the frame.

Color plays an equally deliberate role. Walls has long been fascinated by how colors interact, not in isolation but in relationship.

Bold tones sit beside calmer ones, and together they create emotion. His recent series, PASSÉ, pushed that exploration further, leaning heavily into saturated red.

The choice was intentional and surprisingly challenging.

“It’s very bold,” he says. “Sometimes, bold is uncomfortable, but you have to take risks.”

PASSÉ also marked a shift in scale.

The project required complex technical execution, including cranes, rigging, and lighting.

While the concept came naturally, bringing it to life required persistence and problem-solving.

It was demanding, both creatively and logistically.

As his projects have grown, so has his role within them. Walls steps back from the camera, acting as creative director and producer rather than solely as a photographer. He guides the vision while collaborating with others to execute it, focusing on the work as a whole rather than a single moment.

Despite the aerial distance, his images are truly intimate. Working within tight parameters and shooting directly overhead has become a grounding force. Constraint, for Walls, is not limiting, it's clarifying.

After the intensity of PASSÉ, Walls has slowed his pace. Not out of hesitation, but intention. He is sketching again, mapping ideas before they take form, letting concepts develop without a tempting urgency. The sports work continues, and new series are quietly taking shape.

Nothing about the process has changed. It is still deliberate. Still precise. And certainly is shaped long before the camera goes up.

Brad Walls’ work ahead will arrive the same way his images always do. Thoughtfully constructed, seen from above.

Just 30 minutes outside of the perimeter lies a space where friendship is its infrastructure and luxury is a transformative experience.

Pop Alleigh doesn’t announce itself loudly.

From the outside, it reads almost like a secret, tucked away in Roswell with the kind of quiet exterior that gives no warning of what’s waiting behind the door. Upon stepping inside, the shift is immediate. The lighting is dim, warmth vibrates through the air, and the space carries a speakeasy intimacy that makes you instinctively feel remembered, as if they’ve been waiting for you all along.

Atlanta’s first champagne bar holds cultural authority in equaling defining luxury as beautiful and immersive. At Pop Alleigh it lives in the details: the gold and purple decor suggesting royalty, the intuitiveness of the music, the optionality of selecting Dom Pérignon Brut by the glass or as bottle service, and even in the bathroom amenities. “Luxury is everything outside of the aesthetic too,” co-founder Al explains. “It is feeling the aura

Pop Alleigh wasn’t born from a corporate blueprint or hospitality background. It began the way the best ideas often do, over dinner, mid-conversation, sparked by love and trust.

Leigh recalls sitting with her husband one night when the idea surfaced: Georgia didn’t have a true champagne-forward space, at least not one built with the vision she had in mind.

If she was going to do it, there was only one person she trusted enough to build it with.

That philosophy is what separates Pop Alleigh from other upscale lounges across Atlanta.

Here, the experience isn’t manufactured, it’s curated. Every choice feels intentional, as though the space was designed not simply for drinking, but for tasting the power of devotion.

And at the center of it all are the two people who built it: Al Anderson and Leigh Braglia— best friends first, founders second.

“My husband said, ‘call Al,’ because if this is something I was going to do, I would only do it with him,” she says. That call turned into a partnership rooted in friendship, and eventually, a brand name that holds both of their identities. Pop Alleigh is a play on “alley,” a nod to the interior of the space, but also a blending of Al and Leigh. Two names fused into one concept.

Their backgrounds differed from their peers in the domestic world. Leigh was a stay-at-home mother raising three children while also heavily involved in philanthropy. Al spent decades working with youth as a coach, special education teacher, and choreographer. Yet both carried the same nature that patrons admonish them for; knowing how to make people feel seen. Cultivating a foundation of love, trust, and a bond that only grew stronger once Pop Alleigh was established in December 2022.

At Pop Alleigh, the menu isn’t built on trends or distributor suggestions, it’s built on experience. Leigh and Al speak about champagne and whiskey the way collectors speak about art: with intimacy, fondness, and discernment. Their selections are shaped by travel, by tasting at the source, and by a commitment to being present in the worlds they represent.

For them, luxury isn’t just what’s rare, it’s also what’s intentional. Leigh describes visiting champagne houses in France and exploring domestic sparkling wine in California, while Al’s palate has been sharpened across Italy, Spain, and Scotland. That exposure has become the backbone of Pop Alleigh’s identity. A space where brand recognition is equally prioritized with meaning.

“We pick the things on our menu based on taste,” Al explains. “Not on distributor push, not on rebates. If we don’t like it, we don’t serve it.”

Guests can order classic staples, but also elusive grower champagnes and premium pours that signal premier service. Al notes that brand recognition matters in a luxury space, but so does authenticity.

It’s why Pop Alleigh can pour Krug Grande Cuvée by the glass, and why the menu reads less like a list and more like a passport from California to Japan.

Pop Alleigh may be built on champagne and whiskey, but its staying power comes from something deeper: community. In an era where hospitality can feel transactional and robotic, Al and Leigh have created a space where warmth feels as curated as the bottles behind the bar. Guests return not only for what’s poured, but for who is pouring it.

“People come here because of us,” Al says plainly, emphasizing the consistency they’ve built not just in their menu, but in their staff and service. Regulars are greeted with familiarity, their preferences often recalled before they even order. Leigh describes it as creating an environment where people feel “seen and acknowledged,” a characteristic that transforms a luxury experience into something personal.

That same intentionality shows up in Pop Alleigh’s events, which feel less like marketing schemes and more like cultural moments. Their launch event remains one of their most defining memories. Pop Alleigh’s story isn’t just one redefining taste, it’s one of impact. In the process of expanding their offerings beyond champagne, Leigh and Al did something few hospitality owners ever attempt: they helped change the rules. When guests began requesting bourbon, Leigh and Al took the idea to city hall, only to discover the licensing structure for what they envisioned didn’t exist in Georgia. Instead of abandoning the concept, they pushed forward. Attorneys were involved. The process moved quickly.

And soon, Pop Alleigh became one of the first spaces of its kind to legally operate, opening doors for other businesses to follow.

“It changed the game,” Leigh says.

That same fearless devotion continues to shape what’s next: a cigar license in progress, expanded late-night programming, and a steady calendar of events designed to attract more than just champagne connoisseurs. Renowned architects Bill Bergin and Rees Jones were tasked to design this grand golf course. “This project presented a rare opportunity to take advantage of a site with such dramatic elevation and natural character,” remarks Bill Bergin. “Our focus was to craft a layout that tests every aspect of a golfer’s game, while also delivering unforgettable moments along the cliffs and valleys of Lookout Mountain and McLemore Cove.” 1.5 miles of uninterrupted cliff edge form the shape of the amphitheater and create a focal point at the center of the property. The Cairn was designed by Bergin and The Highlands are a collaboration by Bergin and Jones. The venerated 18th hole of The Highlands can be seen from The Cairn. Raindrops streak the windshield and are swept aside by wipers as quickly as they appear. It has been raining for two-and-a-half hours, stretching from Atlanta to the edge of Tennessee.

Mist covers the scenic landscape, draping the countryside in mystery. Finally, the car arrives at the destination, and the relentless rain slows to a stop. Beneath the thinning mist, a mystical scene of green hills, and mountainous terrain emerges. This is Bolt Farm Treehouse.

Situated in the Sequatchie Valley, Bolt Farm Treehouse is an award-winning couple’s retreat designed for mindfulness and rest. This space could not be any more different than bustling Atlanta (2.5 hours away), but that’s exactly what makes it a target attraction for Atlanta residents.

With indoor and outdoor space altogether, the dome is 1,175 sq ft for the regular dome and 1,500 for the XL dome. Nothing compares to snuggling under a blanket of stars, making the Dome a guest favorite.
