A personal hobby developed into a lifelong profession in 2006 when he took a leap of faith and moved to Cape Cod and launched Cape Tunes. "I am truly blessed that a hobby became a job. Despite the decades I've been playing music, I still get a rush of excitement before every event," Scott says.
After many years in the business, Scott understands all of the chaos that comes with planning a wedding. "We strive to be the easiest vendor a couple will work with on their special day," he says. "Whatever track, beat, or set-up you need, we will make it work." Today, Cape Tunes has blossomed from a one-man show to an unstoppable team. This season Scott and his merry band of DJs will bring the party to over 200 weddings, with hopes to boost their numbers in 2014.

2013 BEFORE THE RING. A twist of fate and an ancient church brought Annie
Guill and Pierre-Antoine Bollet together. While pursuing her undergraduate degree, Annie’s art history professor studied at a cozy chapel in the French countryside for years and developed a lasting friendship with a French family, the Bollets. When their son moved to New York, Annie’s professor suggested Annie lead the welcome wagon and show the newcomer around. As an introduction to both each other and the city, this sweet set-up led to a whirlwind romance. The result: a happy ending of everlasting love.

Antoine whisked Annie away for a long Memorial Day weekend. Instead of the expected historical trip to colonial Virginia, he surprised his sweetheart when they pulled up to the airport. “At this point, I began to catch on that something was up,” Annie says. “He was so nervous that his luggage would be searched and I would see the turquoise Tiffany box!” When they arrived at the lavish retreat in Mexico, they took a stroll on the beach. There, Pierre-Antoine popped the question in the heart of tropical paradise. THE DAY & DESIGN. The couple, holding a large red balloon, led
guests in a parade from the church to the bride’s family home. The tented reception sparkled with oceanside allure, as sea grass and whimsical wildflower arrangements complemented custom nautical table linens. “Nothing makes me happier than a thick blue-and-white stripe,” Annie says. “We wanted to accent the tamed wild of the locale—every bouquet was different, and there was Cape grass everywhere.” Clotheslines strung with paper lanterns hung overhead with a collection of sun hats, as songsters serenaded guests. Yellow and aqua balloons dotted the design with festive flair, and a fireworks spectacular completed the fun-filled evening.

Though the pair couldn’t have seemed more different—Kendall, an English major with a love of literature and Jeff, a lacrosse player moseying to class late every day—something sparked between them. Introduced by a mutual friend, the couple fell head over heels. For three years the pair was inseparable, and when Jeff graduated before Kendall, they traveled back and forth to Boston every weekend. the cozy Cape town of Cotuit. One breezy morning in June, Kendall and Jeff set out for a sunrise swim to nearby Sampson’s Island. As the pair waded out of the water, Jeff got down on one knee and revealed the ring hidden in the pocket of his swim trunks. “I was so shocked,” Kendall says. “Not only was it a surprise, it was a miracle that it wasn’t lost in the swim!” Warm sunlight sparkled off the waves as she exclaimed, “Yes!” THE DAY & DESIGN. Keeping the theme of their special day timeless with
whimsical touches, the couple celebrated their nuptials with a garden-partyinspired reception with vintage vibes. Petal pinks and peaches with pops of baby blue complemented mismatched china and classic farm tables for a soft and romantic effect. Kendall and Jeff opted for custom table toppers instead of numbers, naming each after a meaningful location. “We decided to serve the food family-style,” Kendall says. “Sharing food is such a good conversation starter, and we wanted everyone to feel at home.” The down-home aura of the elegant affair was complete with custom cupcakes, mason jar cocktails, and jam favors made by the bride and her mother.

natural, nautical hues of the island, Mel and Kevin chose a color palette of crisp blues, gorgeous grays, and soft sands for their special day. Classic canvas linens complemented local lilac and hydrangea arrangements for a coastalcozy vibe. The delightful decor sparkled with homemade charm, right down to the custom wooden cake topper. “We opted for a photo booth instead of a traditional guestbook,” Mel says. “Everyone loved it, and we still look back on those crazy photos.” Guests proceeded back to the beach to catch a spectacular sunset, followed by a sparkler send-off as the happy couple began their life together as husband and wife.

before the ring. In May of 2005, James Scheurell had just returned to the States from a year abroad in Australia when he met Tim Ehrenberg at a friend’s graduation party. There was an instant spark. The couple got to know each other over the following months as friends, but it was clear their connection was something more. “It was obvious that James was special,” Tim says. “Our fast friendship blossomed into romance, and we never looked back.” the proposal. In March of 2011, the couple was living in Missouri when
Tim woke one morning to a scavenger hunt around his apartment. Each clue featured a picture and a special memory from the past seven years. Following James’ sweet trail of breadcrumbs, Tim discovered a jigsaw puzzle that, when pieced together, instructed him to drive to a mysterious address. Driving into the countryside, he arrived at a house on the shores of a beautiful lake, where he found the final clue. James popped the question, and the couple spent the weekend on the lake celebrating. the day & design. Tim and James decided to host a weekend-long

wedding extravaganza at a private estate on Nantucket. The weekend kicked off with a welcome party, complete with with games, cheese, and all the trimmings of a University of Wisconsin house party. Celebrating the traditions of Nantucket, the rehearsal dinner was a nautical picnic on the beach, featuring local seafood and followed by a sunset cruise. Finally—sporting custom tuxedos —the dapper couple said “I do” oceanside, and proceeded to the Whales Watch lawn for an elegant reception with whimsical touches. Inspired by the locale, the pair chose a simple color palette of ivory and gray with pops of coral. Fluffy peonies spilled from mismatched metallic vessels, and warm candlelight filled the tented reception. “We dreamed of a classically traditional wedding, with subtle nautical accents and plenty of modern finesse,” Tim says. "The end result was so incredible, we didn't want to leave." And they didn't. Having fallen head over heels for the little island, Tim and James moved to Nantucket full-time after their wedding to begin the next chapter of their life together.

2012 BEFORE THE RING. Sara Barrett and Brewster Charles’ story began as so many true tales of romance do—they were high school sweethearts. Though the couple met early in life, it was clear the bond they shared was something special. “It was an instant connection,” Sara says, looking back on their teenage courtship. “It was a spark that will always be.” As the years passed, the pair experienced the trials and tribulations of growing up together. Despite the challenges, their love grew stronger every day, and they have been together ever since.

THE PROPOSAL. At the height of a frigid New England winter, the fun-
loving couple traveled to New Hampshire for a frosty weekend getaway. One afternoon, despite bone-chilling temperatures, they bundled up for a snowmobile ride across the rolling landscape of ice and snow. Unbeknownst to the future bride-to-be, Brewster had a sparkly secret tucked into his snow gear. The pair paused in an enchanted glen to take a break and explore the wilderness on foot. Against the beautiful backdrop of the frozen forest, Brewster surprised his long-time love with a heart-melting proposal.

THE DAY & DESIGN. Inspired by the inn’s bucolic barn, Sara and Brewster chose whimsical whites and fresh greenery as the focus of their design. Lush succulents, leafy ferns, and garlands hung from the eaves, as deer antlers added a rugged wilderness edge. Guests were spoiled with a bevy of tasty treats on a lavish dessert bar, with chocolate ganache and salted-caramel macaron favors serving as seating cards for a sweet greeting and goodbye. “Everyone went crazy over the candy bar,” Sara says, “especially the chocolate dipped pretzel sticks made by my bridesmaids.”

Their relationship weathered a year and a half of long-distance love after graduation before Jennifer moved from Los Angeles to Cleveland to be with Dave.

impromptu long weekend in the countryside. Assuming the trip was an early Christmas gift, Jen was delighted when they arrived at a romantic bed and breakfast. Following an afternoon of pampering and relaxation, Dave suggested they take a stroll on one of the nearby trails. The couple wandered through the woods hand-in-hand, until Dave paused in the center of a beautiful clearing. As winter's first snow flurries drifted around them, Dave asked Jen to be his wife. The pair returned to their suite for a cozy celebration, complete with a crackling fireplace, champagne, and chocolates. THE DAY & DESIGN. In an elegant twist on classic Old Cape style, the couple
wove seaside touches and rustic sensibilities into the details of their day. "We strove to create a country-chic atmosphere, while still accenting the dreamy seaside setting," Jen says. Following a waterfront ceremony, the newlyweds welcomed guests to a tented celebration, where burlap linens, mercury glass vessels, and pink peonies topped family-style farm tables, and place cards arranged with sand and seashell accents guided guests to their seats. Napkins with fun facts about the couple and custom photograph table numbers added a playful twist. "Our favorite moment of the day was our first dance," Jen says. "Surrounded by our friends and family cheering us on to Steve Winwood’s 'Higher Love' really started the party."

Though they attended a small school, with a graduating class of 80 students, the pair didn’t really become acquainted until their senior year. Over books, they got to know each other and became smitten. Jack finally gathered up the courage to ask Allison to the prom, and they became inseparable. The budding romance blossomed into true love despite attending different colleges. “Jack once sold his textbooks so that he could travel from South Carolina to visit me in Dallas — we always knew we’d do whatever it took to be together,” Allison says.

THE PROPOSAL. In December of 2011, Allison and Jack planned a trip to France to celebrate their eighth anniversary. The plan was to meet Jack’s family in Paris to ring in the New Year; however, unbeknownst to Allison, her sweetie had a few tricks up his sleeve. Jack planned the perfect proposal at the Louvre, but when the pair arrived, the museum was closed. Thinking on his feet, Jack led Allison to the Ile-St-Louis, a favorite spot from a trip in college, and proposed in the heart of The City of Light . “It was so unexpected and so perfect,” Allison says. THE DAY & DESIGN. Drawing inspiration from the idyllic island, the
couple chose a crisp color palette of blue and white. Cool navy blue accents complemented creamy white linens for a fresh, nautical effect. A fun combination of classic heirlooms and diy accents brought the decor to life. Photographs of loved ones in antique frames dotted tabletops, and table numbers symbolized special dates for the pair. Guests enjoyed baked lobster and a decadent dessert bar. “Our wedding fell on my mother’s and Jack’s brother’s birthdays, so we had three cakes,” Allison says. “It was one big, happy celebration.”
