A letter from Director of Rho A letter from Director of Rho Gammas, Emily Barcalow Gammas, Emily Barcalow

Dear Future Rho Gammas,

My name is Emily and I can’t wait to meet you!! Being a Rho Gamma is an extremely valuable experience that not only shapes the way PNMs view our Panhellenic community, but gives you the opportunity to grow your own. My PNMS, who were the cutest, most wide-eyed young women, are now rocking out in their new chapters, yet still say hi to me whe see them on campus and out-n-about in Blacksburg. I personally bumped the house music all day at the house I w timing for to provide a break from the anxieties that recruitment can bring. The emotional connection you feel your PNMs and other Rho Gammas is unlike anything I hav been a part of at VT. This experience is so wildly unique th when I asked for recruiting purposes, I had so many Rho Gammas from this past year voluntarily fill out testimony forms recalling their love for the position. If you are at al interested, hit my line (757) 636-5267 and I’m happy to call/meet and talk about all it has to offer:)

Applications are live and on GobblerConnect on the Panhelle page until March 7th!

With Panhel Love, Your new Director of Rho Gammas<3

I became a Rho Gamma because of my Rho Gamma when I went through formal recruitment! My Rho Gamma always had such good energy and a genuine light about herself, and while I didn't depend on her as much as other PNM's in our group did, I knew that she was always there if I needed her. It was during my time going through recruitment that I knew if I ended up in a chapter here, I would love the opportunity to be a Rho Gamma! After the fact, I can confidently say that it was such an amazing and rewarding experience to be able to serve just like her for the PNM's going through recruitment this year, and if you're thinking about being a Rho Gamma, definitely look into it!! - Olivia Dorsey

Alpha Phi Philanthropy Recap!

This year, Alpha Phi proudly raised $4,100 during our Philanthropy Week and an additional $37,000 from our Red Dress Gala, all in support of the Alpha Phi Foundation and women’s heart health. Our Philanthropy Week was filled with exciting events, including Hoops for Heart, a 3v3 basketball tournament where Greek organizations came together to compete for a cause. We also partnered with local restaurants in Blacksburg— Panera, Panda Express, Roots, and Sugar Magnolia for percentage nights to boost our fundraising efforts.

Following Philanthropy Week, we hosted our Red Dress Gala at The Inn at Virginia Tech, bringing together family and friends for an evening of giving. With donation baskets, a sit-down dinner, and the opportunity for loved ones to engage with Alpha Phi, the gala was a meaningful way to continue our mission of supporting women’s heart health.

Gamma Phi Beta Philanthropy Recap!

Building Strong Girls is a mission so close to our hearts, and one that we strive to uphold not just this week, but every day. Our philanthropic partner, Girls on the Run, is a national nonprofit dedicated to building social, emotional, and physical resilience in 3rd-8th grade girls perfectly aligning with our goal of empowering young girls to become the best versions of themselves. Many of our members, along with countless women outside of our organization, have experienced firsthand the impact of GOTR, making this partnership all the more special. On behalf of Eta Epsilon, we are so excited to celebrate our spring philanthropy week and relive our favorite elementary school memories with Gamma Phield Day! As we close out February, we couldn’t think of a better way to wrap up the month than by coming together to support this incredible cause. We can’t wait to share more about our philanthropy and continue making a difference in the lives of young girls!

Sigma Kappa Philanthropy Recap!

UV Week took place February 18th–21st, and we are so proud of its success! We raised $6,000 for the Sigma Kappa Foundation, which supports our five philanthropies: Sigma Kappa Foundation, Inherit the Earth, Gerontology, Maine Seacoast Mission, and the Alzheimer’s Association. Despite the weather, our events were a blast! Casino Night at Hokie House was a highlight, featuring games like Texas Hold 'Em, Spoons, and Blackjack, along with exciting raffles. The energy was amazing, and many people stayed the entire night! Earlier in the week, we hosted Sigma Stacks, where students stopped by the Sigma Kappa house for pancakes before class. We are so grateful for everyone who participated, donated, and helped make this week so impactful.
