The Blazers dominated at all three facets of the game, opening a 46-0 lead en route to a 53-7 victory in the first football game for VSU in 644 days dating back to Nov. 30, 2019. Senior Mondrell Jefferson returned two fumbles for touchdowns with one on defense and one on special teams. VSU junior quarterback Ivory Durham had a strong outing in his first career start under center. VSU raced out to a 37-0 lead through three quarters en route to a 51-7 victory in the first meeting between the two teams. The Blazers had two rushers over 100 yards and had five rushing touchdowns for the most under Goff at VSU. The Blazers forced VUU into three turnovers and turned into 14 points for VSU.

Following a two hour, 30-minute lightning delay, the Blazers posted a 21-3 victory in a light rain over Albany State. VSU led 7-3 at halftime, scoring on its first possession, but struggled offensively after that. VSU forced ASU into four turnovers for the game, but the Blazers didn’t score off the miscues.

VSU started out of the gates fast with a touchdown on its first drive of the game, but the offense staalled as the upset-minded Hawks pulled within 14-13 at halftime. Following halftime adjustments, the Blazers outscored Shorter 35-0 in the second half for a 49-13 victory. VSU amassed 574 yards of and held Shorter to just 49 yards of offense in the second half. The Blazers scored on the opening kickoff as Lio’undre Gallimore and Jamar Thompkins combined for the 96-yard TD score just 14 seconds into the contest. VSU put together its most complete performance of the season with a season-high 401 yards rushing and a career-high 190 yards on the ground by junior running back Seth McGill. VSU tallied 566 total yards of offense.

Trailing for the first time all season, the Blazers responded emphatically with a 42-3 spurt to turn back No. 10 West Alabama’s upset bid. VSU amassed over 500 yards of offense for the thirdstraight game (504) and tossed a season-high 341 yards. VSU’s “D” held UWA to just 58 yards of offense in the second half and just 309 yards for the game.

In one of the more unusual games in recent memory, the Blazers posted a 41-14 victory at Mississippi College for the 21ststraight GSC regular season victory. Both MC and VSU didn’t punt in the game and the Blazers held MC to 0 passing yards (0-7-1). VSU outgained the Choctaws 486-345 and 379-345 on the ground. The Blazers built a 27-13 lead at halftime only to see UWF roar back in the second half, outscoring VSU 21-9 for the final half. VSU amassed 488 yards of offense and held UWF to just 339 yards, including just 228 passing. VSU quarterback Ivory Durham threw for two scores and ran for two more.

Trailing for just the second time all season, the Blazers responded with a 21-7 second quarter as they built a 21-14 lead at halftime against North Greenville. The Crusaders gave it their all, but the Blazer offense did just enough led by Brian Saunds’ career-high 15 catches and 220 yards, while Ivory Durham rushed for a team-high 107 yards. The Blazers ran into a buzz-saw at West Florida and came away with the first regular season loss since 2017. The game lived up to the hype offensively between both teams with over 1,200 yards of offense combined and 103 points combined. VSU quarterback Ivory Durham threw for a career-high 417 yards, while graduate WR Lio’undre Gallimore had three TD receptions. A school-record 719 yards of offense and a career day from numerous players helped lead VSU to a 66-35 victory over rival West Georgia in the second round of the playoffs. Junior quarterback Ivory Durham had a career day, rushing for three scores and throwing for three in the game as VSU posted its fifth game of over 60 points and third time in the playoffs since 2015. The Blazers started quickly and posted a 41-17 victory over Bowie State to advance to the program’s sixth NCAA National Semifinal. The Blazers held a 533-221 advantage in total offense, crushing the the nation’s fifth-ranked scoring defense (12.7 ppg) and fifth-ranked total defense (234.1 ypg). Graduate Brian Saunds had 10 catches for 149 yards and three scores. For the fifth-straight game the Blazers recorded over 500 yards of total offense and held on for a thrilling 34-31 victory to qualify for the program’s sixth NCAA National Championship game since 2002. VSU quarterback Ivory Durham ran for a career-high 153 yards, one touchdown rush and tossed three scores in the victory. Playing for their sixth national championship and looking for their fifth victory, the Blazers started off fast with the high-powered Bulldogs and held leads twice in the first quarter, but Ferris State used big plays for a 58-17 victory , outscoring VSU 45-0 after the Blazers had a 17-13 lead with 2:47 left in the first quarter. VSU had a season-low 268 yards of offense in the game.
