VST ECS Expands Portfolio with Aruba EdgeConnect SD-WAN Edge Platform to Empower Organizations to Shift to Business-First Networking Model MANILA, PHILS. – 08 February 2022 – VST ECS Phils. Inc. today announced its appointment as a distributor of the Aruba EdgeConnect SD-WAN edge platform (formerly SilverPeak). EdgeConnect SD-WAN solutions will enable organizations to shift to a business-first networking model. Embracing a cloud-first strategy demands enterprises to deploy SD-WAN solutions designed to support fully automated business-driven networks.

Traditionally, router-centric wide area network (WAN) was designed when all applications were hosted in enterprise data centers. As more organizations move to the cloud, applications are no longer centralized. Hence, traditional networking infrastructures limit application performance and traditional routers are inadequate in routing all applications from branch offices back to the data center, instead of directly to SaaS and IaaS providers.

PRODUCT LAUNCH

Shifting gears to a business-first networking model To realize the full potential of the cloud and to allow networks to keep pace with the demands of a hyperconnected world, it is imperative for organizations to shift to a business-first networking model. This approach allows the network to support business applications and improves business resiliency. In this model, IT teams centrally orchestrate quality of service (QoS) and security policies for groups of applications based on business intent. The configuration is programmed automatically to 100s or 1000s of locations across the network. The network connects users in a seamless and secure manner to applications, delivering optimal performance round-the-clock. Through real-time monitoring of applications and WAN services, the network learns and adapts to any changes in network conditions that might impact application performance, such as packet loss and latency.

Empowering with ArubaEdgeConnect SD-WAN Aruba EdgeConnect SD-WAN platform enables customers to build a unified WAN edge to support mission-critical business needs, delivering a seamless, secure, and unified experience while continuously adapting to ever-changing business needs and networking conditions. Hence, enterprises can fully realize the transformational promise of the cloud. The platform unifies SD-WAN, firewall, segmentation, routing, WAN optimization and application visibility and control in a single centrally managed platform. Aruba EdgeConnect supports rapid deployment of flexible hardware, software and cloud delivery models that are interoperable through full and open APIs. It allows enterprises to leverage existing investments, including current security, cloud, and service providers. Aruba was also named Leader in the 2021 Gartner Magic Quadrant for WAN Edge Infrastructure for the fourth consecutive year. The architect behind the Aruba EdgeConnect SD-WAN is Aruba Orchestrator, that allows organizations to centrally define, assign and enforce polices across the WAN from a single screen. IT teams can quickly define QoS policies, failover prioritization and service changing to third-party network and security services.

SINGAPORE, 3 March 2022 – GoTo announced today its Southeast Asia expansion with a channel-first approach focused on Singapore, Malaysia, and the Philippines. This announcement follows the recent news in early February of LogMeIn rebranding to GoTo. Together with its established international presence in North America, South America, Europe, and APAC, GoTo demonstrates its commitment to supporting small-and-midsize enterprises (SMEs) globally and across the region with their changing flexible work collaboration and IT support needs. It is estimated that there are more than 70 million SMEs in Southeast Asia as of 2020. They account for 99% of all businesses in the region, employ over 140 million people and form the backbone of Southeast Asian economies. Working largely remotely over the past two years, the COVID-19 pandemic has created a shift in the way employees prefer to work. A recent study by EY found only 15% of the Southeast Asian workforce indicating that they prefer to work from office full time. The majority would prefer to work anywhere (32%), work remotely full time (29%) or in a hybrid work arrangement (23%). Despite the obvious increase in utilizing organizational reliance on digital tools for employees the study found that only 42% of organisations are utilizing productivity tools. “At GoTo, we understand the unique challenges faced by SMEs and are dedicated to focusing our resources to address these pain points. We want to bring this set of knowledge to better serve Southeast Asia together with our

ecosystem of partners, and best-in-class collaboration and support products,” said Lindsay Brown, Vice President and General Manager, GoTo Asia Pacific. “Expanding our footprint into this region with a channel-first approach means our customers can benefit from product expertise and local support provided by skilled partners. With the importance of channel as part of our expansion strategy, I’m pleased to announce Yvette McEnearney’s promotion as Channel Director, Asia Pacific where she’ll now lead our Channel Sales team across Asia Pacific.”

A New, IT Management & Support Product GoTo also announced the release of a new IT management & support (ITSM) product, GoTo Resolve. GoTo Resolve modernises IT support by bringing together all the tools small and midsize businesses (SMBs) need to manage and support employees in a flexible, secure, and conversational way. The launch of GoTo Resolve coupled with continued evolution and enhancements to GoTo unified communications and collaboration (UCC) solutions with products like GoTo Webinar, GoTo Meeting and more, allow SME IT teams to seamlessly manage their systems and communicate with their employees to get the right information and fix issues quicker through a single provider and application. GoTo’s unified administration centre brings together these products, giving IT leaders a single app from which they can manage their users, entitlements, and configurations.

• New all-in-one product simplifies SMB IT management and support, bringing together functionality from GoTo’s world-class remote access, management, and support capabilities with an all-new conversational ticketing and support toolset • First-to-market zero trust security architecture protects endpoints from cyber threats and supply chain vulnerabilities. GoTo Resolve’s zero trust access controls takes a ‘never trust, always verify’ approach, whereby all sensitive actions – such as remote access and automation tasks – require a second, unique verification by anyone and everything • GoTo Resolve is a premium service that can be deployed in minutes, not days. With a zero-cost option, GoTo is making zero trust security attainable for businesses of any size, enabling users to have access to basic functionalities “Our annual IT Decision Makers survey1 revealed that more than 81% of businesses in Southeast Asia will have more than 50% of their workforce working remotely on a part-time or full-time basis. Such a shift will continue to change how businesses support their employees’ changing requirements for flexible work,” said Krishna Baidya, Director of Digital Transformation Practice at Frost & Sullivan. “The unified and simplified GoTo portfolio is well-aligned with the way businesses, particularly SMEs, evaluate options to modernise their communications, collaboration, and IT solutions, preferencing integrated, easy-to-use and manage solutions that are fast to implement, with reliable uptime and backed by the support of in-region experts.”

A New Partner Network Over the past year GoTo’s Southeast Asia team established a local channel program with partners including Ingram Micro in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Thailand, as well VST ECS in the Philippines. GoTo plans to make additional hires locally to support its regional expansion plan in 2022. With this announcement, GoTo is also introducing the new GoTo Partner Network, designed to empower its growing ecosystem of partners with additional ways to attract customers and increase revenue. With an expanded global focus, current and new partners can now benefit from additional investments in marketing, new integrations, and support for multiple partner types (MSPs, Resellers, and Distributors). The programme includes a formalised tiering model with associated benefits relative to performance. This creates additional revenue opportunities for providing remote support, endpoint management, and additional GoTo collaboration products For more information, please visit www.goto.com.

About GoTo GoTo’s flexible-work software – including GoTo Connect, GoTo Resolve, Rescue, Central, and more – is built for IT departments of small- and midsize business IT departments, but powerful enough for the enterprise. GoTo software is designed to support end-users' unified communications & collaboration (UCC) and IT management & support needs, and nearly 800,000 customers contribute to the more than one billion people joining meetings, classes, and webinars through GoTo’s UCC products, and half a billion connections on the company's remote access and support tools. Future-proofing your database strategy with Yugabyte DB Published January 3, 2022, 10:24 AM

by Robert D. Reyes At the heart of the software is a database, and the database game has changed: it is no longer the big beating the small, but rather the fast beating the slow. Future-proofing your database strategy is the name of the game now according to Dennis Sze, Director for South Asia of Yugabyte during the recently-concluded CXO Innovation Summit organized by VST ECS Phils. Inc. The ongoing pandemic is pushing businesses to adopt the technological trends applicable in their respective fields and this includes utilizing cloud-native applications, moving to the cloud, and modernizing their existing database systems. YugabyteDB is a high-performance distributed SQL database that is PostgreSQL compatible built using a unique combination of a document store, per-shared distributed consensus replication, and multi-shared ACID (atomicity, consistency, isolation, and durability) transactions serving both scale-out RDBMS and Internet-scale OLTP (online transaction processing) workloads. As a cloud-native database, YugabyteDB can be deployed across public and private clouds, as well as in Kubernetes environments with ease. On another hand, acting as a transactional database, the system brings together four (04) must-have needs of cloud-native apps: SQL (a flexible query language), low-latency performance, continuous availability, and globally-distributed scalability — something that most database systems do not serve all simultaneously. With almost all enterprise organizations going digital in the next three (03) to five (05) years, it is just a matter of time for them to realize that their legacy database systems and approaches are no longer good enough to remain competitive.

“The time to modernize is now. The future is already here; it’s just not evenly distributed. In the world of software, it is a level playing field — the small can beat the large, and it is all about how you adapt. Software is key in the digital future,” said Sze On top of all YugabyteDB’s features, it is 100% open source (based on Apache 2.0 license) — something that the company sees as an edge to capture a greater market in the Philippines. With the public cloud being the benchmark of sorts when it comes to online services now, the maturity of database services over time has become more of a factor for businesses to migrate the soonest rather than looking at the cost implications as a hindrance from a customer’s standpoint. With organizations wanting the maximum flexibility and portability to run on any infrastructure without being locked in, database developers are simply embracing open source technologies. “Over the last ten years, people have learned a lot and realized that using closed source software, they are left in a situation that it is very expensive to move (out). Open source has set the stage — almost everything is based on open source now for resiliency. The open source momentum has driven how people will build the future of software, how the cloud will function, and how ecosystems will change,” added Sze. As part of their commitment to the open source community, the Philippines YugabyteDB User Group [https://www.meetup.com/philippines-yugabytedb-user-grou p/] has been organizing online events geared towards developers who want to learn about the database system and how it can be of benefit to their respective organizations.

ACERPURE COOL:

HEPA filter like no other

With the HEPA Plus, the Cool and Pro are said to be capable of eliminating 99.99 percent of bacteria, and 99.9 percent of coronavirus 2 and influenza A (H1N1) 3 virus.

"So-called high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filters have been in the market for years now for people with allergen problems. However, with the Covid-19 pandemic, HEPA filters and other air purifying products have ceased to be novelty products only for those with deep wallets. Acer’s Acerpure line of air cleaners boasts of innovations that should appeal to those who want an extra layer of protection against airborne contaminants, bacteria and viruses. At P16,990, the flagship Acerpure Cool, a unit of which I put in the kids’ bedroom, may cost more than some non-inverter, window-type air- conditioners. Still, all the tech that had been crammed into it would certainly justify the price tag." “Acerpure Cool, as well as Acerpure Pro at P12,999, have 4-in-1 HEPA filters that eliminate bacteria, allergens and pollutants from the air. They are touted to remove pet hair and dander and 99.97 percent of particles as small as 0.3 microns, including PM1.0, formaldehyde and odors. While it’s best to run the Cool with an air-conditioner, it has a rotating and tilting fan that would allow standalone use even without the use of traditional electric fans during summer that is officially here now. With the HEPA Plus, the Cool and Pro are said to be capable of eliminating 99.99 percent of bacteria, and 99.9 percent of coronavirus 2 and influenza A (H1N1) 3 virus. The Cool has Ag+" "Silver Coated Filter that, according to its literature, helps eliminate bacteria and viruses, as confirmed by third-party laboratory tests. According to Acer, it has the PM1.0 Air Quality Sensor that automatically switches purifier speed if poor indoor air quality is detected while the “airflow booster” projects filtered air up to 16 meters away. The Pro and the Cool are supported by an app called acerpure Life, which Acer said detects the quality of indoor air, and sends automatic notifications of indoor and outdoor air pollution alerts. It also controls, monitors, and starts the air-purifying functions even before you come home. Now, that’s cool. - JOHN HENRY DODSON
