PROFESSIONAL WORK

BBIX LLC | 2020-Present Massachusetts, USA A series of necessary building improvements led to multiple contracts to upgrade and renovate the existing elevators in several federal buildings. Each project had unique issues to bring the elevator, shafts, and mechanical systems up to code. Consistent communication and collaboration with the elevator consultants and engineers was necessary to ensure that all pieces of the project fit together. Coordination with the client, and tenants of the building was imperative to creating work plans and options that would allow part of the building systems to function during the construction. Overall these projects provided me with hands on experience and the opportunity to visualize existing building systems in action.

BBIX LLC | 2019-2020 Massachusetts, USA Our clients goal for this project was to redesign an existing warehouse building into a workshop/office space. With a limited budget, the main priority was to create a space that was pleasant to work in. The current concrete building had a cold, damp quality that made it difficult for the clients to enjoy working in. Our solution was to add an interior wall layer that would provide insulation. This also provided sound insulation for the large open meeting/work area. The state of the bathrooms was almost unusable as well and required updating to meet ADA standards. Originally intending to have separate women’s and men’s rooms, the bathroom redesign required several iterations. The client decided on a single bathroom with a shower and toilet stalls to dedicate more space to the work areas. I also worked closely with our structural engineer to redesign the stair that would provide rooftop access.

BBIX LLC | 2019-2021 Georgia, USA An unused building on this Air Force Base required extensive renovations before a new tenant could move into the space. As a design build project, we received a preliminary design intent. After our field investigation, we modeled the existing conditions and completed a demolition set. This required extensive planning and coordination with consultants and the client to ensure that the project stayed on schedule. As the first design-build project I have worked on it was a stimulating experience to create the technical drawings and work with the client and consultants in a different way.

BUILDING 60 - ELEVATION 2E

The goal of this project was to document and create standard solutions to repair heavily damaged facade of the Rockland Psychiatric Center. Consisting of four connected multistory buildings, the process began by documenting the existing field conditions meticulously. My role was to translate these field conditions into a set of drawings that accurately portrayed the damage to the facades. From these drawings, our team then set about creating keyed notes that articulated the damage that was present and corresponding solutions for restoration.

. Envision Architects, DPC | 2017 NY, USA As one of the largest health care providers in upstate NY, St. Peters Health Partner’s looks to continuously improve the standard of care that they provide. The goal of this project was to create a new state of the art MRI suite, along with several smaller renovations that included creating a reading room and better flow on the hospital floor. As one of my first experiences working on a Construction Document set it was incredible the amount of information I learned from my supervisor. With his guidance I was able to have a hand in almost every aspect of the the project.

[] Thesis Studio | 2018-2019 Shanghai, China My thesis sought to examine the thought process behind reconnecting architecture to its history through reinterpreting the historical built environment into a new architectural language. Having traveled to Shanghai as part of my M.Arch travel studio, I chose to continue to research, analyze, and generate from their historical architectural language. The process began with thorough literary research and extensive diagrammatic analysis. From there I created four criteria on which to base my design iterations. The final design sought to connect old shanghai and new shanghai.

8 M.Arch Studio | Fall 2018 Zhiying Village, Zhejiang Province China Professor Jennifer Lee Michaliszyn There were two goals of our studio in China. The first was to document and identify the challenges and conditions of village 1 and village 8 in Zhiying. The second goal was to create an intervention that solved these challenges. The challenge my team was tasked with solving was how to build a sustainable community with social, cultural, economic depth and diversity. We examined the existing architectural network and chose a site that already held cultural importance but was in a dilapidated state. We created two axes that would focus on different groups of the village and connected at the central plaza.

THE PRIORITY FOR THE VILLAGE LIES IN CREATING AND IMPROVING THE A COMMUNITY FOR THE VARIOUS MIGRANTS THAT NOW CALL THE VILLAGE HOME, CREATING RECREATION/GATHERING AREAS FOR THE ELDERLY, AND IMPROVING THE EDUCATION NETWORK (BASED ON INTERVIEWS WITH THE RESIDENTS OF THE TOWN.) OUR DESIGN INTERVENTION WILL ATTEMPT TO SOLVE THESE PRIORITY ISSUES.

Studio VI | Spring 2017 Fellsway Bridge, Mystic River Bank Professor Alberto Cabre This studio challenged us to design a dance studio for AXIS Dance Company, a team that consists of ablebodied and disabled dancers. The site location, the banks of the Mystic River, are prone to flooding. In teams of two we were tasked to design a project with an integrative approach to building materials and systems - structural, environmental, enclosure - while preserving our design concept. My partner and I were inspired to create a building form that mimicked the way that the dancers collaborated with each other. Specifically, we looked at how the rigidity of the disabled dancers blended with the flexibility of the able-bodied dancers. This idea is most obviously seen in our alternating roof system that is supported by a rigid truss system. It can also be seen in flexible open space that is created from two static wings of the building.
