I am delighted that you are considering one of VSA’s Very Sheltered Housing complexes for adults. This brochure will provide you with further information about who we are, our people, our living environments and the technology we use that enables us to provide you or your loved one(s) with the best of care.

At VSA we have been providing care and support to vulnerable children and adults living in Aberdeen and beyond for 150 years. We support a person’s physical, mental, emotional and social wellbeing through a range of residential and outreach community support services.

We strongly believe in providing everyone with outstanding care and support to enable each person to enjoy life and realise their dreams and potential. Over the past few decades, we have harnessed our expertise, knowledge and experience to enhance and evolve the care services we provide, in order to deliver better outcome focused and person-centred care that is unique to each individual.

Broomhill Park and Cloverfield Grove, support people to maintain a level of independence, and live life to the fullest in a safe environment with access to care and support when they need it.

All of our services are registered with the Care Inspectorate and our dedication to providing the best of care, so that people can live the best of lives, is recognised through their regular independent audits.

These audits provide the people we support with peace of mind and reassurance that they are receiving quality care.

We have excellent partnership relationships locally with the NHS, Aberdeen City Council, and the Aberdeen Health and Social Care Partnership; we work together to ensure the best possible outcomes for you and that you receive the best of care.

VSA Very Sheltered Housing There may be times in our lives when some tasks can become more difficult to undertake without help and support, however, this does not mean that there is any reason as to why you should not maintain your independence.

By moving into one of VSA’s Very Sheltered Housing you can keep your independence but have the comfort of knowing that care and extra support is available whenever you need it.

Very Sheltered Housing is designed for people who need help with daily living activities but do not require the intense care that a nursing home would provide and where care at home is no longer sufficient.

Our services are designed to provide people with their own apartment and living space within a safe and secure environment. Our team of support workers are on hand 24/7 to support you or your loved one(s) health and wellbeing and can provide support with daily activities such as housekeeping, laundry, shopping and assistance with bathing, dressing and attending appointments.

Each service is designed to promote independence in a home-like setting and offers communal areas such as café’s, entertainment lounges, hair salon/beauty therapy room and enclosed outdoor gardens.

Our services will provide you or your loved one(s) with practical, emotional and social support. We have a range of daily activities, social events and recreational opportunities which help to maintain vital social interaction and companionship reducing loneliness and isolation.

Our locations:

Broomhill Park Based in the west end of Aberdeen city, Broomhill Park is located on the outskirts of the city centre on South Anderson Drive. Tenants of Broomhill Park can access the city centre via bus or taxi, both of which are just a short 5-15 minute journey.

Broomhill Park has 42 individual apartments, including four double apartments available.

Within Broomhill Park, there are communal lounges, cafe’s, a hair salon, and an outdoor garden space.

Broomhill Park encourages family and friends to visit at any time they wish; we also have a guest flat that can be booked for family and friends who wish to visit but who may not stay within the local area.

Our locations:

Cloverfield Grove Based in the Bucksburn area of Aberdeen city, Cloverfield Grove is located to the North West of the City and is a short journey away from Aberdeen Airport. Residents of Cloverfield Grove can access the city centre via bus or taxi, both of which are approximately a 20-25 minute journey.

Cloverfield Grove has 40 individual apartments, including four double apartments available.

Friendship Moving into residential care can be daunting, but we are here for you. All tenants experience a range of mixed emotions and our team are here to listen to any concerns and anxieties or help you cope with any mixed emotions you have. Our Very Sheltered Housing provides you with an opportunity to make new friends, and share your hobbies and interests with others.

In addition we have a range of daily and group activities available, all of which are designed with your health and wellbeing in mind and will help to reduce feelings of loneliness or isolation. We strongly encourage all tenants to take part in at least one activity as it will help to improve your overall quality of life.

House Keeping Our aim at VSA is for the tenants to remain as independent as possible and participate with the cleaning of their own apartments. Each tenant has an allocated days where support will be given with cleaning their apartment if required.

Maintaining a clean home not only improves emotional well-being but also reduces the chance of illness or allergic reactions. Freshly washed and pressed clothes, clean sheets and sparkling surfaces all support the dignity of our clients and their enjoyment of everyday life.

A tidy home encourages sociability and maintains one’s standard of living; two key components of overall wellness.

Laundry Package The service comprimises of laundry being washed, ironed and re-delivered to your apartment.

The Service is provided twice weekly on set days and we can only accept laundry that is washing machine washable.

Lifestyle - supplemental services Some people who move into our Very Sheltered Housing still enjoy and wish to undertake tasks such as cooking or doing their own laundry. If you are not able to do these tasks due to your care and support needs or you simply wish to make the lifestyle choice of having these services provided for you, we can help.

Our team takes every measure to ensure each individual’s health and preference requirements are well catered to.

Meal Package We have a variety of meal package options available for all tenants and for those that wish to do their own cooking, our team can provide any assistance you require in your own apartment.

We work in partnership with award winning catering company, Apetito, who specialise in providing high quality, delicious and nutritious meals that are created by chef’s and dietitians to guarantee they are nourishing and packed with nutrients. We are able to cater for all dietary and medical needs including malnutrition, dementia, diabetes, dysphagia, vegan, low fat meals and cater for religious dietary requirements such as kosher and halal. Practical Care and Support At VSA we fully understand that we may need to help with personal care in later life, however, each person is unique. That’s why at VSA, we work with you to create a care plan that is bespoke to your individual needs and practical requirements like dressing, eating, and showering.

Specialist Help and Support Broomhill Park and Cloverfield Grove do not offer intensive nursing support services, however, we do have decades of care experience in supporting people with significant care needs.

Our support workers are fully trained to provide support with mobility, communication difficulties or fatigue and will work with you to build a care plan and daily routines that suit you.

Our team will also help you if required to get access to a local GP, Optician, District Nurse, or any other specialist support you need.

About VSA As a leading social care charity with over 150 years of experience, we have always been at the forefront of providing vital care and support to vulnerable children and adults living across Aberdeen and beyond. We support people through the most challenging times they have ever experienced, and we help them take control of their lives for a better future.

Each day we change lives by supporting a person’s physical, emotional, mental and social wellbeing through a wide range of health and social care services, such as residential services and community outreach programmes.
