Welcome to Butterfield Trail Village – A Premier Retirement Community Founded in 1981 by five area churches, Butterfield Trail Village is located in the picturesque college town of Fayetteville, Arkansas. In 2015, Butterfield opened a new $2.4 million Aquatic and Wellness Center with a heated indoor pool and fitness and spa areas. The glass-enclosed pool has dedicated lap lanes and areas for warmwater therapy and deep-water aerobics.

There is a full workout room with seniorspecific cardio/strength equipment, as well as an area for group exercise classes. A hot tub, spa and massage therapy services, and a full-service beauty salon round out the amenities. The Director of Wellness and her staff also offer personal training to help you keep your program on track.

Independent Living The name of Butterfield Trail Village, and the stagecoach in our logo, commemorates the nearby route taken by the historic passenger and mail stagecoach service that traveled across the country from 1857 to 1861 along the Butterfield Overland Mail Trail.

Like its namesake, Butterfield Trail Village also forged a new frontier when the first residents moved into this self-governed, non-profit retirement community in 1986. Founded by five area churches — Central United Methodist, First Christian, St. Paul’s Episcopal, First United Presbyterian, and First Baptist — the Village answered the Northwest Arkansas region’s need and desire for a local retirement living option for those who were interested in pursuing an active lifestyle with the comfort of knowing that, if needed, they would have access to exceptional onsite skilled-nursing facilities.
