Hello!!MynameisHanaSarwatTahir.I’m19years old and a second year medical student. My position is the local officer of research exchange onKoya’slocalboard.

I am originally from Halabja, but i grew up in slemani. I graduated from Classical School of the Medes-slemani.

Medical school is very busy and tiring , as we are all aware, therefore it is very important for me to still cut out pieces of time for personal enjoyments. This is one of the main reasons I joined IFMSA, because it provided a bridge between both of them. I was able to socialize, relax, and have fun, with the added bonus of learning important information that will guide methroughmedicalschool.

One habit from high school that I try my hardest not to break is reading. No matter how hard my school work was i spent at least a few minutes a day reading. I mostly enjoy reading classic literature. It is very interesting how there are certain scenarios that keep repeating, whether it isthroughpersonalsocialandworklives, oreven political, and the lessons in them are still applicable today. It provides a feeling of comfort, knowing people had similar problems and feelings as us now a hundred years ago. Those feelings are what connects the past to the present.

and Information

Knowledge is often regarded as power, and access to it is key to progress. This initiative focused on translating and spreading crucial medical and humanitarian information in Kurdish, including:

•TheRoleofDoctorsinCourt

•HumanitarianDisasterRisk Management

This information was later transformed into two impactful infographics, which were shared on IFMSA-Kurdistan’s official social media platforms to raise awareness and educate the public. The Small Working Online Group combined research and translation to make critical knowledge accessible to Kurdish-speaking audiences. This project serves as a powerful reminder of the impact that collaboration, education, and language accessibility can have on public awareness and engagement.

2.ChristmasHopeandJoy:Bringing CheertoSeniors

The festive season is a time of joy, warmth, and celebration. However, for many elderly individuals living in care homes, it can also be a time of isolation. In response to this, IFMSA-Kurdistan organized a project aimed at spreading holiday cheer.

A short online training session was conducted on how to interact with and care for elderly patients. This was followed by a heartwarming visit to Masike Elderly Home, where gifts were distributed, and moments of kindness and connection were shared. Each gift symbolized more than just a physical item—it was a gesture of care, showing the elderly that they were valued and remembered.

However, the most rewarding part of the project was the time spent engaging in conversations, sharing laughter, and listening to stories that will remain cherished memories.
