Gianbattista "Gianba" Vinzoni discovered his love of cooking as a child in his grandmother's kitchen in Broni, Italy. His family has deep roots in Bonassola, in the Cinque Terre region, dating back to the 1400s. Watching his grandmother prepare fresh pasta, stomp grapes for wine, and raise animals for meals instilled in him a passion for food and family gatherings.
After a five-year career as an Italian Navy Seal, Gianba transitioned to the culinary world, sparked by a joke about working in a kitchen. Starting with no experience, he worked his way up after moving to Los Angeles in 1995. Under the mentorship of renowned chefs, he became an accomplished chef and manager, serving as Head Chef at the Soho House, Executive Sous Chef at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, and Executive Chef at Fig and Olive. In March 2019, he fulfilled his dream of opening his own restaurant, becoming the proud Chef-Owner of Cinque Terre West. Gianba has lived in the Pacific Palisades since 2001 with his wife Marlo and their two children, cherishing both his new home and his Italian roots.
