Javier Sarmiento - Javi - born in Mexico, spent his childhood in Guatemala.
His work is rooted in a deep fascination with the nature of the self and the other, through an obsessive lens on binaries and contrasts gender, sexuality, sensuality
Through his musework, the reproduction of their-self is done with the purpose of reinterpreting them - himself or the other - in moments revealing intimate truths.
Rather it be through chromatic language, or the rips and burns in the canvas, the subject is rebelliously dissected and reinterpreted by various means.
For Javi, the energy created between artist and muse, between gazer and the gazed, is necessary.
An attempt at complete harmony with the self, through the other.
Currently residing in Milano, Italy,
Javi explores his passion for the introspection of the delicate dance between subject, space and emotion depicted on his canvases.
