Hey there! I'm Yit Nan, and I recently finished my Bachelor's degree in Architecture. Right now, I'm looking for job opportunities in the architecture industry to enhance my skills, gain a deeper understanding of architecture, and apply what I've learned to create great spatial experiences. I love coming up with new ideas and concepts related to space, form, and construction. I'm organized and goaloriented, which helps me handle events, lead teams, and contribute to creative thinking.

Nestled within the heart of Georgetown lies the vibrant hub of cultural preservation - a civic center adorned with the echoes of tradition and the essence of fading crafts. Stepping into its welcoming embrace, one is immediately immersed in a tapestry of heritage, where the air hums with the rhythmic symphony of songkok making, the delicate intricacies of rattan weaving, the aromatic dance of joss stick crafting, and the vibrant hues of flower garland creation. The center pulsates with life as seasoned artisans, bearers of ancient wisdom, patiently impart their knowledge to curious souls, their skilled hands moving with a grace born of generations past. Visitors are invited to partake in these time-honored crafts, becoming weavers of stories themselves, as each thread, scent, and petal woven together creates a living narrative of Penang’s rich cultural legacy, ensuring that these vanishing trades endure through the passage of time.

“From redundancy to renewal, the narrative of George Town unfolds—a testament to the resilience of fading crafts. Once a bustling hub of trades and crafts brought by boat settlers, its cultural identity now stands at the precipice of obscurity. Yet, with each stroke of restoration, we reclaim its essence, bridging past and present, ensuring its legacy
Community Centre
Jalan Petaling, Kuala Lumpur
Year 3 / Semester 5 [July 2023]
The community center is envisioned as a dynamic exchange hub, fostering interaction between the main street and back alley, encouraging pauses to activate the site. Emphasizing the social and temporal dimensions, we delve into the intricate relationship between people and space. The social dimension encompasses behaviors and responses to the environment, closely intertwined with the temporal dimension, reflecting the context of human activity.
Circulation, often associated with the movement of blood in the human body, takes on a parallel meaning in architecture, referring to the flow of people within a building or space. In a biomimicry context, the analogy between human movement and blood circulation is striking—the more active the human movement, akin to an increased heartbeat, the more vibrant the space becomes. Increased social activities mirror heightened physiological mechanisms, akin to a thriving heartbeat, indicating the vitality and dynamism of the community center.

The caesura can be described as a momentary pause that signifies a rhythmic division within a melody. This slight interruption before the continuation serves to emphasize the importance of pausing in defining continuity. A pause signifies taking a break or halting an activity momentarily, with the intention of resuming or indulging in relaxation or enjoyment during the pause.
This initiative aims to offer a respite from the fast-paced urban lifestyle, particularly for the community, especially young adults. The energy exuded by the children in the vicinity provides optimism for both the younger generation and the elderly, underscoring the significance of maintaining health through the concept of pause and play.
The structured yoga sessions, with their emphasis on pausing the body to quiet the mind and elevate the spirit, contribute to this ethos of pause and play, highlighting the importance of stillness amid movement.

Kampung Sungai Haji Dorani
Year 2 / Semester 3 [June 2021]
Kampung Sungai Haji Dorani, situated on the west coast of the Peninsula, takes pride in its paddy fields, which are renowned for their exports to other countries. The vibrant hues of the fields shift with the seasons, transitioning from brown-yellowish green to lush green and then to golden before returning to brown. This cyclical transformation mirrors the cycle of life observed in paddy cultivation, where each season sees the crop wither and rejuvenate, reminiscent of the concept of Samsara, prevalent in various Indian religions, symbolizing the perpetual cycle of birth and rebirth.
The significance of Samsara in the paddy fields is underscored by the village’s meticulous water management system, vital for ensuring successful cultivation. Water serves as the lifeblood of the paddy, akin to how blood flows through our veins, essential for its growth. The villagers play a crucial role as facilitators in transporting this precious commodity, acting as couriers of the harvest.
In the symbiotic relationship between water and paddy, reminiscent of the Yin and Yang principle in Chinese culture, the absence of one renders the other incomplete, highlighting their interdependence and essential harmony.

Phoenix, Arizona
Year 2 / Semester 4 [Nov 202]
Nestled within the expansive expanse of the Salt River Valley, Phoenix stands as the cornerstone of the Phoenix metropolitan area, characterized by its arid desert climate. Historically, its lifeblood coursed through a network of canals, fostering a flourishing agricultural community. However, the aftermath of World War II witnessed a transformative influx of high-tech enterprises into the valley, coupled with the advent of widespread air conditioning, mitigating the harshness of Phoenix’s scorching summers. Nonetheless, projections suggest a bleak future for Phoenix, as climate change threatens to render it nearly uninhabitable by 2050.
In response, plans have emerged to reimagine the cityscape, envisaging a sustainable urban paradigm. One such proposal envisions the migration of inhabitants into towering structures equipped with ground-level facilities, while employing innovative techniques such as nucleation processes to induce rainfall, thereby crafting a resilient urban ecosystem poised to weather the challenges of the impending climatic upheaval.

Sustainable Living Competitions
Year 1 / Semester 2 [Nov 2021]
The year is 2100, the rainforests are all gone, the polar ice caps have melted, and mountains of garbage fill the horizon. This is what will happen if the pollution of the Earth continues on its current path. Humans will always be the biggest threat to the environment. The only way to protect the environment is to leave it alone, just like millions of years ago when humans didn’t exist. The goal is to move most of the human population into living in space pods orbiting around Earth at an altitude of 36000km, creating a community and ecosystem detached from the Earth’s atmosphere.
“I don’t think the human race will survive the next thousand years, unless we spread into space.”
