SOME OF THIS SEASON’S MOST NOTEWORTHY HAPPENINGS

Fresh cut grass, the smell of spray-on sunscreen, and the fop on sandals on pavement – these are some of the ways you know summer is upon us. Another is the return of the plethora of summer events that the Chippewa Valley has to offer. Whether it’s listening to live music, eating some great food, or basking in the sunlight (or all of the above), summertime in the Valley is anything but boring. Here are just a few of the great events that are popping up within the next few months.

Music Over Menomin Concert Series

Music Over Menomin is back for its 12th season of live music by local artists. The stage is set on the lawn of Menomonie Public Library at 600 Wolske Bay Road, by the shores of scenic Lake Menomin, featuring local talent from the Chippewa Valley. U.S. KUBB NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

Kubb is a game for everyone. All skill levels, experience, and ages are welcome. The U.S. Championship is the oldest and largest kubb tournament in the U.S. Every year, well over 100 teams come from coast to coast to participate. Cinder City Days

Cinder City Days is a full weekend of fun put on by volunteers of the Altoona Lions club. Live music, a car show, a parade, and a grilling competition are just a taste of everything going on at Cinder City Days this year. Plus, all proceeds go back to charity. Menomonie Vintage Base Ball Festival Phelan

PARK | ALL DAY eau claire, wi | family-friendly

1860 Vintage Base Ball will be played on June 25 & 26th at Phelan Park in Menomonie. The Menomonie Blue Caps will welcome teams from across the country to play America’s pastime with rules from 140 years ago, when gloves were not invented yet. Admission is only 2-bits (.25 cents).
