The Volante About Us The Volante is the University of South Dakota’s independently-run student newspaper. The Volante covers topics relevant and interesting to USD students. Faculty, staff and community members are welcome readers, but the newspaper is written and presented for a diverse community of students from the students’ point of view. The paper should provide a variety of information, entertainment and educational opportunities for the readers. The Volante encourages everyone to write letters to the editor. The Volante wishes to be viewed by students as respectable, objective, accurate, fair and trustworthy. If you have comments, concerns or questions, please contact The Volante at 677-5494 or at volante@usd.edu. The Volante is distributed Wednesdays during the academic year free of charge locally with the cost of $1 for each additional copy. One school-year subscription rate is $35, which includes mailing costs. The Volante does not endorse, promote or encourage the purchase or sale of any production serve advertised in this paper. Advertisements are the sole responsibility of the advertiser. The Volante disclaims liability for any damage suffered as a result of any advertisement in this newspaper. The Volante reserves the right to refuse any advertising.

Advertising Policies The Volante cannot be held responsible for errors which occur as a result of illegibility or the necessity of interpretation or when a proof of an ad has been approved by the customer. The newspaper’s liability or an error in any advertisement shall not exceed the proportions space in which the error occurred. Advertisers may receive a proof of any advertisement, however, corrections must be clearly noted or identified and must be received by no later than 5 p.m. of the Monday before publication. Advertisements may not be cancelled after the advertising deadline. The Volante reserves the right to revise the deadline schedule at any time. If the space is reserved and the advertiser fails to supply ad information before the deadline, the advertiser will be charged full price for the ad. The Volante advertising is not responsible for the journalistic content in The Volante. The Volante reserves the right to revise or reject advertising. Advertising simulating news style must carry the word “advertisment� at the top of the ad.

Printed Inserts Local rate: $45 per thousand National rate: $55 per thousand • Insert rates are net to paper, non-commissionable, no cash or prompt payment disounts. • Sample of insert must be submitted for approval to advertising manager seven days prior to shipment. • Minimum of 1,000; max of 5,000 or total press run. • Inserts should be boxed, bundled, or on skids. Skid max weight: 1,500 pounds. Inserts must be bundled in standard labeled quantities. • Inserts must be in plant at least six days prior to publication date. Inserts may be delivered between 8:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. on weekdays.

Print Advertisement Specifications PREFERRED FILE FORMAT Press quality Adobe PDF compliant files are the preferred file format for final artwork going into print editions. COLOR All images must be saved in CYMK format. Any RGB, index or PMS colors must be converted to CYMK prior to submission of materials. Additional charges may apply if artwork is not submitted press-ready. GRAPHICS Images must be 200 ppi and saved in tiff, eps or psd format. FONTS Fonts must be included with source files.
