The inclination to art and music has always been present in the hearts of SHSians The talent of artistry and musicality is welcomed, celebrated, and honed in the school through the variety of extracurricular activities involving visual and performing arts, both of which are interconnected with one another in order to bring color to such an academically-inclined school

The National Commission for Culture and Art led the celebration of National Arts Month this year with the theme, “Ani ng Sining, Bunga ng Galing.” The 2023 events aimed to immerse Filipinos in diverse cultural expressions and to celebrate the bountiful harvest from our imaginations.

Following the lead of the NCCA, the School of the Holy Spirit of Quezon City mounted its own concert held on the 21st of February, 2023 The celebratory program led by the Arts & Music area, served to commemorate the Filipino culture rich in the field of visual and performing arts

Students gathered together at the San Lorenzo Ruiz Hall to watch the spectacular performances prepared by the visual and performing arts clubs, as well as faculty and other members of the school community SHSQC’s JIVE amazed its audience as they opened the event with their welcoming ensemble, followed by a doxology sung by the Junior Chorale and opening remarks by Mrs De Leon, who quoted a line from Beauty is the Mystery of Life by Agnes

Agnes Martin. Other numbers accompanied the welcoming program for Arts & Music Month, such as the Grades 7 to 9 Dance Club, Kaesura, JIVE, Senior Chorale, Forte Impromptu, Galaw Pinoy, Aglaia STEP trainees, Visual Arts, and even the faculty and staff.

The objective of the performances was not only to start the domino of events planned for Arts & Music Month but also to showcase students who are virtuosos of their God-given talents It aimed to celebrate the efforts that all the student organizations and the members of the Music and Arts Department put in to continue the august and noble legacy of honoring this special month

SHSQC’s interpretation of Ani ng Sining, Bunga ng Galing helped promote to the world and recognize homegrown talents on just a simple school gymnasium's stage We thank Ms Gonzales, our current acting principal; Mrs Villar, the head of the Arts and Music Area; all club moderators, and the SHSQC faculty who helped a great deal in contributing to the celebration of Buwan ng Sining.

Artists have the responsibility to share the beauty of Filipino culture, whether it be through visual arts or performances The celebration allowed them to connect more with their culture and creativity, giving them the chance to reflect on their identity as Filipino artists It was their opportunity to showcase the values, history, and traditions of Filipinos ingrained in the music and art that they make Being given the opportunity to perform for the occasion was not only a privilege but also a responsibility. As times change, so will the different ways we celebrate Filipino culture Knowing this, it is imperative that artists continue to make use of these events to help the Filipino people remember their roots, their traditions

“Ani ng Sining, Bunga ng Galing,” the product of our art is the fruit of our excellence Be proud of the art that you create, for art is a beautiful representation of life itself
