SPAC students shine at president’s gala
Members of the concert chorale entertained at the annual Mary McLeod Bethune Legacy Awards Gala.
Staff Report Students from the McClaney School of Performing Arts and Communication added extra zing to this year’s Mary McLeod Bethune Legacy Awards Gala. Member of the concert chorale entertained the audience with several numbers while members of the theater department captivated the audience with narrated selections.
The students performed before more than 800 guests, who paid $125 each, to attend the event at the Ocean Center on Oct. 19. The event raised $5.2 million for the university, including $1 million from Wayne Davis and $4 million from Darnell Dailey. The college raised about half that sum in 2014 for the same event.
