he global digital fraud rate decreased by 22.6% during the first quarter of 2022 when compared to the same period in 2021. According to consumer credit reporting agency TransUnion’s quarterly digital fraud analysis, the year-over-year (YoY) suspected fraud rate declined in industries such as financial services, telecommunications and retail, while fraudsters significantly increased their scams in sectors
such as gambling, insurance and logistics. But these figures contrast significantly with those offered by TransUnion itself in its previously release “Global Digital Fraud Trends” report for 2021, just a day before the quarterly analysis. “Sophisticated fraudsters pressure test which industries have ramped up fraud prevention measures and, as a result, turn to new industries if efforts are being thwarted.
