Common Ambition Bristol

If you haven’t heard already Common Ambition Bristol affectionately known as CAB is a new and exciting community powered project working with the African and Caribbean heritage communities here in Bristol to reduce HIV diagnosis, stigma and ultimately improve sexual health.

It is a 3-year project funded by The Health Foundation working with various partners in the city including Brigstowe, Bristol City Council, UNITY sexual health, University of Bristol and African voices forum. Of course, our most important partner in this project is YOU. The people within these communities.

Why is this important? Our aim is to increase awareness of HIV and encourage people to test to ultimately be in control of their own sexual health. This is important as Bristol is a city with higher rates of HIV than other cities in the UK, which includes people who may not be aware of their HIV status as they aren’t testing. A misunderstanding of what HIV is, along with fear and stigma, are often reasons why people don’t get tested. CAB exists to change these misunderstanding as well as to address the overall health inequalities that African and Caribbean heritage communities face. Get to know us: We recently launched our brand new and exciting website! This has been created as a vibrant, informative and safe space for our community to be able to access as much information as needed on HIV and sexual health, including: testing, myth busting, our social media links and where you can see us around the city over the coming months and much more! www.commonambitionbristol.org.uk

We are looking for volunteers!

Would you like to be part of this incredible project? Do you have some time to spare to help us with outreach and support us at events across the city? Then do get in touch!!
