Editor in chief Le Quan Editorial Board Chairman: Le Quan Production Director David Prusko Le Quan / President
FROM THE EDITOR VNB MAGAZINE Le Quan is the creative director and photographer for VNB Magazine. He is also a visionary and a dreamer. What once seemed impossible and out of reach has now become day-to-day life for Le Quan. I was so moved and intrigued by Le Quan during our meeting in Brooklyn, NY. He hasn’t had the easiest life, which makes his story all the more inspiring. He moved to the US from Vietnam with nothing to his name. At one of his lowest points, he was living out of a phone booth. A strong work ethic and relentless pursuit of his dreams led him to where he is today. The publication is an Asian glamour magazine devoted to new beauty and design. I like to think of it as a platform for fresh faces and new designers to showcase their talent. The concept in and of itself is quite charitable. Le Quan’s rough beginnings not only shaped his character but also set to tone for his career goals. Having worked as a photographer for several years, he was always in contact with talent that he felt was flying under the radar. He wanted to create an outlet for these undiscovered stars. Experiencing difficulty finding a job after completing graphic design school, he learned that didn’t want to rely on anyone for employment. Instead he wanted to be a position where he could do the hiring, specifically for his magazine. It’s with that give-back attitude the VNB Magazine was born. Le Quan shoots all the images found in his magazine and also features work from fellow photographers seeking exposure. If you’re an aspiring designer or model hoping to get your image or work out there, let Le Quan know. He’s ready to help. While you’re at it, help him out by spreading the word about his magazine.

VNB MAGAZINE FIRST LINGERIE FASHION SHOW IN THE HEART OF CHINATOWN NEW YORK CITY In the midst of fashion show weeks taking place around
the world, a grand celebration for the next VNB magazine Issue was held at the Wyndham Garden Hotel in New York’s Chinatown on March 13 at 8:00pm. The event was dedicated to promoting the upcoming new edition of VNB’s magazine of six issues a year. Held every two months the event included a full gourmet dinner, networking with VIPs, photographs with the VNB models, and a sexy lingerie fashion show. Special VIP gift bags filled with French wine, a beautiful watch coffee table book, a VNB magazine with a VNB model calendar, were given to each guest, attending this event. As the saying goes, “feeling beautiful in your clothes starts with your underwear”, so we enjoyed a fabulous event that showcases the best fashion, innovations and function in lingerie. Models at the event ranged in age from 20 to 27 and body sizes were small, tall and sexy. It was refreshing to see such a beautiful representation of women.

Runway and presentation models were treated to a full backstage prepping experience from make-up, hairstylist beauty partners and fashion designer LaPearl. 9 hot models cat walked down the runway, posed with sweet teasers, soft cover-ups; fine pearls while showing off their talents and barely there wear. The models changed three times, with each appearance never being a dull moment. For the closing, instead of non-stop thigh highs, VNB’s Lingerie show WOWED the audience with alluring full body hosiery. In addition to this head turning Lingerie VNB fashion show, the event also entertained the audience with two budding talented live singers and modern dance performances. The audience was graced by the presence of important innovative VIP business owners William Su, Daniel Chen, Johnny Liu, Kevin Parker, T. S. Sang, Joe Zhou, and John Lam all who helped to sponsor this special night of thrills and frills.

THINKING HABITS THAT DIFFER BETWEEN THE RICH AND THE POOR Poor people like to nostalgia of the past, dream of the future and love reading the tabloids, while the rich does relentless action, laying out the money and passion to find serenity through money.
The world’s richest woman Gina Rinehart ever caused a sensation after her speech, saying that those who are jealous of her fortune should stop “drinking, smoking and a bullet for” to do other things useful for their future. Steve Siebold - the author of the book “How the rich think,” said Mrs. Gina Rinehart’s views also deserve attention. He spent nearly three decades interviewing many millionaires around the world to find out what distinguish them from the rest. He discovered the point between the rich and the poor is not money, but the way they think. Here are 14 of the most noteworthy book by Steve Siebold: 1. Poor people think money is the root of all sin. Rich people think that poverty is the root of all sin. “Most of the average people think that rich people are very lucky and not honest,” Siebold writes in the book. That’s why people in communities with low income think the notion of “rich” goes together with shame. Meanwhile, the upper class thinks that money does not guarantee happiness; it just helps make life easier and enjoyable. 2. Poor people often think that being selfish is a bad habit while rich people think it’s a gift.
WW W. V NBMAG AZIN E .C OM
32
“The rich come here and find how to make themselves happy. They do not need to pretend to save the world,” Siebold said. The problem is that some poor people are so negative, and if this is the cause of their continuous poverty, the author writes in the book. “If you do not care about yourself, you can not help anyone else. Others you can not give what you do not have,” he wrote.
3. Poor people dream about winning the lottery. Rich people dream of acting. “While we are waiting for some great winter days and praying to win the lottery, these outstanding individuals are seeking to solve their problems,” Siebold writes, “Most poor people are waiting for God, government, boss or rich mate but the clock continues to tick and time keeps elapsing day by day. “ 4. Poor people think the way to get rich is through mainstream education. Rich people believe in the comprehension of specific knowledge. Many of them are not rich enjoy formal education. Their fortune accumulated through many types of perceived knowledge. Meanwhile, the majority of poorer for that Bachelor’s degree, Ph.D. is the new way to get rich, mainly because they grip in the line of thinking that prevents them from achieving higher consciousness.
The rich do not care about the method but only interested in results. 5. The poor are always in memory of beautiful days in the past. Rich people dream about the future. “The millionaire starts from the scratch because they always bet on themselves and manually design dreams, goals and their ideas in a long-term, Siebold writes,” And whoever believes that the most beautiful day of yesterday are rarely rich, and often struggle with unhappiness or disappointment in the present. 6. Poor people make money by doing things they do not like. The passionate pursuit of wealth. “For normal people, they think that the rich always work,” Siebold said. “But one of the most intelligent methods of rich people is they do things they like and find out how to get effective pay back,” he said. Meanwhile, middle class do not like their jobs because they need the money and because they were taught in school to do it. In addition, they also live in a society that says money is always associated with mental and physical efforts. 7. The poor little expectations set out to not be disappointed. The rich are not afraid of challenges. “Psychologists, psychiatrists always recommend people set small goals in life to ensure that they will not fall into a state of despair,” Siebold said. Meanwhile, according to the survey, none reach the target wealthy and live life like a dream without starting the day by setting huge expectations. 8. Poor people think they have to do something to become rich. The rich think about what to do to become rich. “That’s why people like Donald Trump went from millionaire to a $ 9 billion debt and then become wealthier than ever before,” the authors wrote. “While the majority of the work is amorously to enjoy the immediate results of what they do, what they’re individuals learn and grow from every experience they have, whether it is successful or failure. They know that the real reward is to become a successful person and finally get the most brilliant results. 9. Poor people believe that they need to have money to make money. Rich people use other people’s money. Traditional thinking makes people believe that the need for new money can be invested to earn more money. But Siebold believes that rich people are not afraid to invest in their future by taking money out of others pockets. “Rich people think it is not enough to buy something that is not appropriate. The real question is:” Is it worth buying, or should investors pursue or not, “the authors wrote.
10. Poor people believe that the market is operated by the logic and methods. The rich know that they are operated by emotions and greed. Successful investment in stock markets is not just a matter of memorizing mathematics formulas. “Rich people know that things are leading financial market fear and greed. They apply this formula to all transactions,” Siebold writes. Knowledge of human nature and their impact on market trading make them richer. 11. The poor stress themselves by money. The rich find by money. The reason the rich can earn much more money because they are not afraid to admit that money can solve most problems, the author said. “As usual, classes see money as evil never cease to accept that they are a part of life. Wealthy people see money as a means of salvation, but if you have enough, they will buy the peace of mind financially. 12. Poor people like to be entertained than being educated. The rich prefer education to entertainment. Although many of them are not rich people undergo formal training school, they still appreciate the power of life-long learning, not only in universities, Siebold writes. “Entering into rich people’s house, one of the first things you see is a large library filled with books,” the authors write. “Meanwhile, the middle class, reading novels, tabloids and entertainment magazines. “He wrote. 13. The poor think the rich are snobs. Rich people only want to associate with people who think like them. Negative thoughts on money poisoned the poor, which is one of the reasons why the rich only associate with the rich, the authors write. Rich people can not understand the message of doom and depressing. The majority of this is to see the expression of snobbish behavior. And when assigning the label of the super-rich snobbish middle class or less happy than themselves, and the way “mediocre” they have chosen. 14. Poor people focus on savings. Rich people focus on money. Siebold concluded that rich people focus on what they can achieve by willingness to take risks, rather than seeking to hold onto what they have. “The majority of people are too focused on the discounts, coupon and ascetic life, therefore they miss big opportunities in life,” he wrote. “Even in the financial crisis, the rich still refuse the mindset of tightening like the majority. They are masters of where to focus: The local money.

Q&A 1. Please tell us about yourself? I’m a model and actress from Singapore that has just moved to New York 4 months ago. I have been acting and modeling for the past 6 years and it’s my passion to constantly improve and recreate myself through art and photography. I also design and produce some of my fashion shoots and videos, I love how we can embrace the female form through fashion and inspire other people. 2. What make you choose VNB magazine beside other magazine to be featured? It is an honor to be featured in VNB magazine as it is Asia’s first Men’s Magazine in New York as I grew up in Asia and it is important to remember where you came from and also embrace our values and individuality. Most new artists try to reinvent themselves and lose track of who they really are, but I think it’s important to accept who you are first and value your roots so you can stay grounded. VNB magazine also has a wonderful aesthetic style that celebrates women in a classy way, that is still sexy but it makes the male readers look at the women featured appreciate their true beauty.

3. What make you choose modeling beside other career? I love how you can recreate yourself through modeling and it also makes you maintain a healthy lifestyle in order to look good, you have to take care of your body well. Also even though it make look easy it requires a lot of discipline and concentration. I also love that we get to meet so many creative people and work with them as a team to make the pictures come to life. Also when you are in a different set and express a different person or style it makes you think out of your ordinary life and most people don’t have that opportunity in their lives and I am very blessed to be able to do what I love. 4. Who is your favorite model? My favorite model is Tyra Banks, because of how she gives insight and encourages new models in America’s Next Top Model. I love how strong she is and reminds us that no one is perfect but it’s a matter of how hard you can work to succeed. 5. How did it feel when you first got signed? I got signed to one of the top commercial agencies in Singapore 2 years ago. I was really stunned because I was the only petite model in the agency but they had faith in me because they loved how well I could express myself in pictures and sell the product. 6. Did you feel nervous for being the first time model? I was nervous at first in my first shoot my sister actually booked it from a studio as a birthday gift when I was 18. But after a few minutes I loved it. I looked for more Photoshoot opportunities after that day, and have been modeling ever since. So I am very thankful for my sister for helping me rediscover myself before that I was a studying nursing and was a nerd, but realizing how much I loved modeling helped me turned my life around and I went to an arts college to study theatre a year after.
7. Have you ever searched your name online? Yes I did when other people asked about my work and portfolio. 8. What is your daily schedule like? My daily schedule is never constant. I would probably be doing a shoot or going to castings. When I’m free I would be reading online or watching a movie. I would also visit my friends around the city. 9. How do you maintain beauty? My beauty regime is very simple, I make sure to remove all my makeup and cleanse and moisturizer before going to bed. I would also try to cook my own food and eat healthy, mostly a lot of vegetables and fish and drink a lot of tea and water. I would also go for a run and work out to a fitness video on YouTube at least 3 times a week. The most important thing to remain young and beautiful is to love yourself and be happy and smile always! When we try to do things right and have a positive outlook our inner beauty is reflected to who we are on the outside and positivity attracts positive outcomes and wonderful people. 10. Do you have any advice to give to new coming model?
My advice to new models is to accept who you are first and work on bringing out the best of what makes you unique as a person. The key to success is remembering what it is that you value as you may meet people who will try to change or take advantage of you so it’s important to stay strong and never sell yourself out. Also when it comes to shoot the focus is the outcome of the shoot and it’s a collaborative effort, everyone in the team is important especially the client, some models tend to get lost in their own world and have the wrong attitude, remember to always be nice and value everyone’s efforts, because it’s also who you know that can help you succeed in the long run. Practice makes perfect, it helps to practice in front of a mirror and figure out which new poses and expressions works for you. Finally true beauty comes from the heart!

Seeing a name such as Elevate made me curious. Elevate means to raise something or to lift something up. We all had a long day and wanted somewhere to relax and enjoy each other’s company. Upon entering the restaurant, I was greeted very kindly. “Welcome” one of the waiters said, to me. ”Can I help you? “ I explained that I was, meeting some friends there. “ He seated me at a table and I waited for my friends. I wasn’t very hungry so I only ate Miso soup, that day. Two weeks later I had another appointment in the same location, at the same restaurant called “Elevate”. This time I was hungry and I was looking for something affordable and tasty. The person who we had an appointment with, informed us that any thing we ordered he would handle the expense. Another friend arrived, and we decided to order something unique.
We were amazed at the menu and how affordable every thing was. We ordered Sushi. I use to live in Japan. As a student I worked in some of their finer restaurants. I was amazed that each order presented to us fabulously kept with the essential traditional Japanese Cuisines. We had the pleasure to meet the Executive Chef of Elevate, “Mr. Leo Lai”. I learned that Mr. Lai was born and raised in Hong Kong. He had overseen and owned restaurants through out New York and New Jersey. Leo explained to me that he was expanding the restaurant and it will have a seating outdoor extension area soon. He wanted to expand the area, so that more people could enjoy the outdoors and the sun, weather permitting. We later moved to the raw bar. What a treat, Leo presented a series of plates with fish from around the world.
Every sushi platter that Leo created was works of art. Our taste buds were astonished. One dish that you must try is the seasonal Omakase, which translate, as “ I’ll leave it to you”. Other unique appetizers with fabulous presentations were the sea urchin “uni” with homemade sauces, the three different clams, golden Buddha and one of Leo’s creations, which he named the bloody oyster in a shell. We saved room for dessert, and once again Leo presented us with an absolutely beautiful tray decorated with raspberry sorbet, fresh flowered strawberry and chocolate soufflé. Leo’s presentations and services were a true cutting edge Japanese Fusion cuisine, in an upbeat cozy atmosphere! We were elevated and lifted up by our sushi bar experience. We highly suggest that you stop by Elevate Restaurant & Lounge, the next time you visit China town. I am looking forward to returning soon.
