ABOUT THE EDITOR

As the Founder, Editor-in-Chief, and Chief Photographer of VNB Magazine, Le Quan has created an alluring platform for all those captured and seduced by the beauty of the feminine form. The allure of VNB dresses its NYC headquarters with seemingly endless posters of covergirls, magazines, sketches, lights, and lingerie samples from its upcoming intimate collection. It’s a studio, an office, a design lab, a play house - it’s everything that Le has worked hard to create - the quintessential “American Dream” that has inspired generations of creative talents, including James Brown, whose song, “I don’t want nobody to give me nothing” plays proudly in the background. “I don’t want nobody To give me nothing Open up the door

Prior to its inception, Le has held 16 different jobs that ranged from the food and service industry to construction, to administration, to translator, and then to graphic design under another magazine. Eventually, when the magazine refused to continue his contract, he decided to launch his own empire, fusing all the things that he loves and does best. “In Vietnam, everyone has his own business - regardless of the size or nature. I only know how to shoot, and I love women. I have to stay true to what I love, and if I’m left with one word, that’s belief.” However challenging the fundraising efforts have been, for a relatively risqué subject to focus on, Le was convinced that there is a market for such a sophisticated men’s magazine that would provide a platform of opportunities for emerging talent and creative beings. In his own words, “Hey, I don’t sell beer, I don’t sell food, I sell lingerie, and I only do the stuff I love - the rest doesn’t matter. Because when it comes to sacrifice, it’s gotta be for something you love.” With the launch of VNB intimates - a seductive lingerie collection under his very own label, Le’s journey is only about to become more exciting. He’s one of those people who always seeks and manages to make the most out of any situation, but bad situations in particular. He’s a visionary who walks the walk, and never lets you down.

I’ll get it myself We got talents we can use On our side of town Let’s get our heads together

“Every road has its turns, curves, drops, and highs, but it’s how you navigate them, and we’re going to keep going.”

And get it up from the ground” Le claims this song to be his anthem, as it depicts his journey of getting VNB off the ground, to its modern state. The beginning of any venture is not easy, but VNB in particular was, and remains to this day, a risk and a gamble.

Invaluable Lessons Every Entrepreneur Can learn from LIONEL MESSI

Lionel Messi came into the limelight in 2005. It was

during the Fifa World Youth Championship finals, and he played for Argentina against Nigeria. The Nigerian team was great in the tournament, and I was expecting them to win the World Cup. Nobody expected to see a mysterious young boy turn the game around singlehandedly that day. He had such a magical control of the ball that you would think that the football was a part of his feet. Lionel Messi did a lot of magic on the field that day, and my Nigerian home lost to the Argentinean side. They did their best, but the magician was always two or three steps ahead. After watching him play for a little over ten years of my life, I have been able to put together these four invaluable lessons below, which I believe are the secrets that can make every entrepreneur an outstanding success.

Here are 4 invaluable lessons you can learn form Lionel Messi:

1. Train until your potential becomes high asset skills Potential is everything you can be that you are not. It is everything you have the ability to do, that you are not doing. Too bad, but nobody will pay you for your potential. You can’t put a price tag on it. What you get paid for is your skill. I once watched a video of one of Messi’s training sessions. He tied heavy weights to himself and attempted to run with them. This obviously made him run faster than most players when he is on the field. WW W. V NBMAG AZIN E .C OM

14

His speed, shooting, dribbling and passes are incredible. But behind all that, is a secret of intense training. He has great potential and talents, but he didn’t rest on his oars. He trained his socks off until those potentials became invaluable skills. What you should do Do not relax because you have certain talents. Those talents can prove to be valuable to your career. But until you train yourself to the point where your talents become high asset skills, you cannot be the ‘Messi’ of your career. The trainings you go through serves as the fire that will refine those talents and bring out the gold in you. “Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can.” – Arthur Ashe 2. Set a high record then beat it Messi is not just remarkable for his dribbling skills, but equally for his ability to net the ball. I can bet that when Barcelona brought Messi on board, his job description did not include scoring over 60 goals in a single season. However, he set that target for himself, and was able to beat it. Over the years, he has won multiple awards and accomplished so much in his football career. But the most admirable thing about him is that once he accomplishes a feat, he aims higher. Setting a new record or breaking one doesn’t stop him from pushing to set higher records. What you should do It is not enough to be the best. You must continually strive to be better in what you do. To succeed like Messi does, you can’t afford to be satisfied with your past achievement.

Stop competing with anybody but yourself. Remember that progress is continuous, and success is never ending. 3. Be the jack of one trade and master of one Messi is known for only one thing in the world today, football. He is not a musician who studied Engineering and is trying his hands on professional football while he interns for a construction company close to his fashion designing business. He doesn’t play football on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and then manages his real estate company between Friday and Monday. He is not divided among many interests that spread him thin. He is a footballer who plays football. What you should do Try to be the best in one thing. Think of Henry Ford, and Michael Jackson. These people are known for one thing alone, and that is why they became the success they were. Having multiple streams of income is great, but you have to be a master in one thing. The popular advice is not to put all of one’s eggs in one basket. But to succeed like Messi, the practical advice is to put your eggs in one basket and then jealously guard that basket as if your life depends on it, because it does. You can still be an architect and a web designer (which are obviously related). But make sure that you are known for one major thing.

He understands that there is no second chance for him to be his best, so he maximizes all his chances. He doesn’t wait for a better opportunity or a greater audience to watch before he brings out his best. What you should do Don’t wait for better chances. Do not wait for bigger opportunities. Be the best you can all the times you can as much as you can. Remember that there are no second chances for first impressions. The only time you have to be the best you can be is now. If you have the opportunity to solve a problem, design a program, write a proposal or represent your organization, do it as if it is the best you will ever have.

“Doing the best at this moment puts you in the best position for the next moment.” – Oprah Winfrey Toby Nwazor is a freelance writer who believes that life is meant to be lived and not just existed in. Referred to as “The Purpose Guys”, he passionately writes with KC about living a purpose driven life at www.tobyandkc.com. 4. Be the best you can ever be

One thrilling thing about watching Messi’s games is that you can never be bored. There is something electric about his style of play. From his masterful ball possession, his breathtaking dribbles, to his incontestable goal scoring skills, Messi always keeps his viewers and fans on the edge as he plays. WWW. V N BMA G AZINE.COM

Q&A 1. Please tell us a little bit about yourself. My name is Virginia, I’m a American born Chinese, but I went back to Guang Zhou to study when I was 7 year old and I came back to New York for high school and college. I currently work as a freelance model. 2. How did you become involved in the modelling industry? I was told that I should be a model when I was in high school, it sounded unprecedented to me, at the same time it sounded interesting and full of challenging, so why not give it try. Later, some of my friends introduced me to the photographers and jobs, and that’s how I started my modeling career. 3. What aspects of modelling attracted you to the profession? After I got into the modeling industry, I know that modeling is not only just standing in front of the camera and pose, but you also need to give eye contact and body language. In order to have nice photos, you have to have a nice body shape, be confident, healthy, good communication between you and the photographers, and etc., these are just the basics. I would love to learn as much as I can in this industry and succeed my career of modeling. 4. What made you choose to work with VNB? VNB magazine is a very professional, good reputation magazine. They take very good care of the models and gives us many opportunities of modeling. We work like a family and I feel they are very trustful and comfortable to work with. 5. Tell us a bit more about the person behind the gorgeous magazine cover. Travelling is one of my favorite hobbies, it’s amazing and interesting to get to see different culture, custom and the nature all around the world. For my leisure time, I love to hangout with my friends, sometimes, we go to movie or trying new restaurants. Actually, it doesn’t matter what you are doing, as long as you feel comfortable to the person next to you. My life goals, is to be success, so that I can contribute the society and help the people, the animal, or the environment which is in need. 6. Your favorite Dunkin Donut? I’m not a big fan of sweet, but who doesn’t like chocolate, so I would choose chocolate frosted donut. 7. All-time favorite movie? I love fiction movies with some laughing points, such as Transformers would be one of my favorite all time movies. 8. What types of color do you feel compliments you most in terms of makeup and outfits? I used to wear neutral color of makeup because it can match most of the outfits.

9. Any advice for new/aspiring models? Do whatever you love to do, listen to your heart instead of listening to others. You are the only one who can help yourself to make your dream comes true. Work hard, and you will get what you paid. 10. What is your favourite fitness activity? My favorite fitness activity would have to be lugging my 10-pound purse around. I call it my bag of wonders! But, squats, squats and more squats only while doing my hair. Working out isn’t really my thing. 11. What’s one thing you’d like to improve about VNB magazine? VNB is very professional, classy, and nice quality magazine. It has many collaborations with many different kind of styles’ models, if they develop their business with more fashion corporations, that could attract more readers and it will get more attention from the public. 12. If you could be a dancer, what kind of dance would you do? If I really get a chance to be a dancer, I think I would like to be a hip-hop dancer. 13. What are the things that would ruin a perfect date for you? A guy who treats other disrespectfully. I can’t stand for anyone who has bad manners and don’t know how to respect people. 14. Do you think you could survive a zombie apocalypse? You must be kidding me! I’m a member of good-look club, I can’t bear anything that looks nasty, scary or disgusting. But it sounds like a challenge to me, maybe I can overcome the obstacles, we will see! 15. What is your idea of a perfect man? Well, if you say perfect, I would say a guy that I feel comfortable to be with and he must be honest and respectful to me. 16. What is your idea of a perfect date? The perfect date would have to be well. Is there a such thing as a perfect date? Haha can I get back to you on that? 17. Where would your ideal vacation be? My ideal vacation would be to travel the world. Thank you so much Le Quan and VNB Magazine for the spotlight feature!

“EYECESSORIZE”

YOURSELF !

Irresistible Eyewear Fads This Season with iLOOK

W ith Thanksgiving behind us, Christmas, and then

the new year of 2016 are waiting to pounce upon us. What better time than NOW to revamp your eyewear by jumping on some of the freshest trends springing up on the runways? Many designers are treating our senses to bold and colorful new AND classic lines. For our trip to iLOOK this issue, optician Calvin Tse took us on a comprehensive eyewear fashion tour. According to our professional iLOOK consultant, “What’s old is new again! Not only in terms of this season’s hottest clothing, but also for eyewear.” Past eras come alive in the form of funky shapes, smooth colorations and simple updates for various fresh takes on wellloved trends.

Minimalism, inspired by the 90’s and Scandinavian influences, is making a comeback most likely within the next season or two, according to Calvin. Monochrome styles featuring black, white, and gray are an easy and versatile way to embrace this trend, and wire-rimmed glasses is at the forefront of these styles. “We are seeing from manufacturers an increasing focus on the wire frame,” says Calvin. “By the end of next year, we’re likely to see a clear shift in eyewear fashion from the big heavy frame that we’ve been wearing for a few years.” The simplicity of the wire rim design allows its wearer to keep it plain on the color front, which frees you up to get a little adventurous with patterns and shapes. And speaking of shapes, for our VNB gentlemen, the circular frames are definitely a focal point this season for that classic retro look! Small, almost miniature, circle lenses emanate the suave John Lennon charisma that you’d want to achieve. Brands such as Oliver People and Ray-Ban are good carriers of designs like these. Fashion-obsessed ladies, on the other hand, have plenty of options including crafty hexagons, sultry cat-eyes, bold browlines and two-toned effects. However, the trend that truly evokes the new season is the pastel color palette, says Calvin, picking up a pair of crystal encrusted glasses by Tiffany. The styling of these pastel frames takes cues from flowers in bloom, organic textures like bark and soil, and pure fabrics like cotton and linen -- soothing shades of coral peach, Tiffany blue, and warm honey and cream are soft as the spring rain. So girls, get back to nature and add some spring elegance to your looks! “So far, we see the independent boutique brands like Mykita and Lindberg taking bolder steps into these newer trends,” says Calvin when asked which brands carry these new designs well. “Also, we’re going to be seeing a major change in the Gucci eyewear designs.” WWW. Apparently, within the next year Gucci will be transitioning from outsourcing to more in-house designing for their eyewear lines, which would probably translate into more designs or patterns that are distinguishably Gucci in their eyewear before the end of 2016. “As for iLOOK, we plan to stay ahead of these trends,” Calvin assures us confidently. “We’re going to be the trend-setter, and will have these new designs available on our shelves by the turn of the year.” For our readers in the meantime, why not hop over to your closest iLOOK boutique to check out these trends and make use of iLOOK’s ever viable iLEASING program? In three easy steps, you could be the proud owner of a new, flashy pair of sunnies! Step 1: Pick the perfect frame; Step 2: Add lens features; Step 3: Make a down payment of only 20%. What comes next is a payment of 60% of the entire price, but divided into 12 months, interest free. At the end of the lease, or any time before, clients have 3 options: 1, to keep your purchase, your buyback payment of 20% will be processed; 2, to keep your purchase and receive an attractive 50% off the buyback payment when leasing a new pair of glasses; and finally, 3, to return your purchase, your buyback payment will automatically be cancelled. Simple! With this program, you’ll never have to worry about going out of style, because you can start a new iLEASING at any time. All branded names are immediately more affordable because you can now get by with low monthly payments. And during your iLEASING period, you’ll never have to worry about breaking your glasses, because all you have to do is bring it in and iLOOK will gladly exchange the damaged product with a new one, get this, at no extra cost! SPA

Orient Retreat

THE PLACE FOR A REAL TREAT S

pas of old have today evolved into healing centers where men and women of all demographics go not only for respite, but therapy; and they offer both an array of services and environments to help their patrons find renewed balance and a healthy lifestyle. Located in Flushing, New York City, and with international flagship centers across LA, Canada, Taiwan and China, the Orient Retreat has, without a doubt, established itself as the most exclusive spa in Queens. Regularly patronized by celebrities, CEOs and others from the higher echelons of society, this urban oasis offers the most comprehensive spa packages, from stress-relieving massages, deep-cleansing body scrubs, to facial treatments and body-slimming treatments, and even yoga classes. For me, discovering this place has been like a dream come true. I am now a regular member, but during my earliest visits, I remember feeling a little overwhelmed as I was walked through the huge and colorful list of services available. I had decided on what was to become one of my usual favorite routines: an aromatherapy massage treatment, a sea salt body exfoliation scrub, and finally, a skin-whitening yogurt body wrap.

I was then led into the inner chambers where I was given a locker and could change into the spa’s fluffy robe and slippers. I had about 45 minutes before my treatment, so I made use of the steam bath and sauna, which were freely available to all patrons. Then, after a refreshing shower (it was a pleasant surprise to discover they had hair conditioner), I helped myself to some warm herbal tea and fresh fruits on the serving table in the sun room, and lay down on one of the lounge chairs as I enjoyed the sun, the view, and also the sound of running water from the artificial fountain while waiting for my therapist to find me. I was in the middle of texting when my turn arrived, and I was led into a dimly-lit room that smelled delightfully of essential oils. The interior of the facility is designed with comfort and relaxation in mind -- lots of warm colors and lighting, with earth tones and wooden designs. My therapist used a lemon, juniper and lavender massage oil on me that I found incredibly pleasant. We are part of a society that marches to the cadence of stress, and many of us feel those effects all over our bodies, therefore massages can play a role in counteracting these effects. After an hour in heaven, I was given the body scrub treatment, which was something completely new to me. My therapist massaged on me a mixture that contained grains of sea salt, which is meant to detoxify and exfoliate, getting rid of dead skin cells for a smoother, almost baby-like touch all over your body. The sensation took some getting used to, but eventually, we came to my last treatment, which was a kind of body mask for skin smoothing and whitening and involves being slathered from the chin down in a yogurt mud mixture that smells absolutely delectable. Then, you are entirely but loosely wrapped in aluminum foil in order to keep the heat in. I felt like a breakfast burrito and almost believed I was good enough to serve. After 15 to 20 minutes, I stepped into a long hot shower.

deavor in another country, but that was exactly what the Khoo brothers did more than a decade ago. Hailing from Malaysia, brothers Peter and Albert Khoo established SCK Team Work Corporation in 2005, a general contractor of commercial and residential remodeling. Even as a young boy, Peter Khoo has been exposed to the construction industry through a family member while in Malaysia, mainly involved in carpentry and woodwork. Albert on the other hand, had experience in sales and marketing. Therefore, with over 30 years of valid experience between them, this two-man dream team specializes in interior construction and refurbishment projects, where Peter as the main contractor supervises and manages the job sites and sub-contractors, while Albert handles the staff and paperwork behind the scenes. The company’s interior designs mainly specialize in millwork or architectural woodwork such as finish carpentry, trim carpentry, cabinetry, and all forms of woodwork that is extremely high in quality. This is because SCK has its own in-house workshop where a whole team of experienced carpenters work with all sorts of high-tech and expensive machinery, all of whose functions I have no idea. SCK’s state-of-the-art woodwork starts off with the finest raw materials that enable high-end manufacturing of customized wooden products such as windows, doors, sidings, interiors, trims, cabinets and practically anything that a client might need.

GOOD HARVEST

GOOD HARVEST

The factory is spacious and kept clean and airy, with indoor lighting that has been adjusted to exactly the right amount and level so that foremen would always get the color of finishing just right. They even have a separate Spray Room, Albert showed us, where spray-painting is done and left to dry in a completely dirtfree space, made possible through a costly machine that runs like a waterfall that is supposed to collect stray particles in the air so they wouldn’t stick on the painted surfaces. Where designs are concerned, beauty will only be exceeded by functionality as SCK Team Work can utilize cost-saving techniques and meet every client’s specific demands with the most innovative machines and equipment. With such a complete array of in-house facilities, it’s no wonder that SCK is able to maintain the quality of their work so consistently. And that is not all, with their own workers and workshops, the company is able to impeccably control the time of delivery of their projects, and this ensures that one of the two most important aspects to clients in the remodeling industry are guaranteed, which are time and quality. SCK is in full accordance with licensed and bonded contractors, which means the quality and standard of their work are consistent throughout all stages of their projects, beginning from the very first pre-construction consultation where SCK consultants help clients define the parameters of their budget and plans. In year 2012, SCK Team Work Corporation had been registered as and awarded by NYC Small Business Services the MBE (Minority Business Enterprise) certificate, allowing them to take on Empire State development projects. In 2013, SCK vice president Albert Khoo graduated from Columbia University, School of Continuing Education with a certificate in MWL Construction. He had also went on to complete various programs conducted by NYC SBS and obtained certificate of achievements in Bond Readiness and NYC Construction Mentorship. Beginning with simple residential projects at its earliest stages, SCK has now progressed into more commercial projects involving restaurants and cafes. Their list of happy and satisfied clients goes on and on and includes our personal favorite Mister Hotpot, whose project SCK delivered within 4 months, Good Harvest. Seafood Restaurant, the up and coming Malaysian franchised restaurant Pappa Rich, various cafes in the Skyview Center in Flushing such as Grandma’s Dim Sum, and the SEA Restaurant in Williamsburg -- an exclusive and highly authentic place for Southeast Asian cuisine.

HURACAN LP 610-4 THE INSTINCT OF THE FUTURE It’s like a time machine. Only faster. There is nothing from the past that rivals the technology of the new Huracán, which comes together in a perfect car that seems straight out of the future.

LISTEN TO YOUR INSTINCT The first thrill you get will be looking at it. Sharp, aerodynamic lines designed to fend the air and tame the road. The second thrill will be when you touch it. The finest Italian craftsmanship lavished on the luxury finishing of unprecedented prestige and high quality. The third thrill will be when you press the ignition button and feel what it means to have a naturally aspirated V10 behind you. The last thrill will come from the light, when the 12,3’’TFT dashboard beckon you into an incomparable driving experience.

INSTINCT IN YOUR OWN HANDS Real power is having control over power. On one hand, there is the adrenalin of 610 CV (449 KW), 560 Nm, 325 km/h and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.2 seconds. On the other hand, there is all the technology and the control in the electronically controlled AWD drive system, the mid-mounted naturally aspirated V10 engine and the Lamborghini Doppia Frizione (LDF) 7- speed dual clutch gearbox. The entire cockpit was designed starting from the driver itself. The “form follows function” principle was applied diffusely in the interior, e.g. the integration of the main display in the instrument cluster gave the possibility to design a thin “bridge” center console, with a mobile phone holder below. The standard sport seats include a standard electric backrest and longitudinal adjustment. Further, the customer may choose the convenient optional full-electric control for height, tilting and length adjustment, incl. seat heating. Sources: lamborghini.com

BATTLE OF THE SEXES

When it comes to decoding the female language and understanding what women really mean when they say something, do you claim to be an expert in the field? Or are you, like a huge majority of the men out there, floundering to make even the remotest sense of what your sweetheart is communicating to you? The female psyche is so complex and sometimes so contrary that there is a saying that goes, "In order for a woman to be happy with a man, she has to love him a little and understand him a lot. But for a man to be happy with a woman, he has to love her a lot, and not try to understand her at all!" So whether you're looking for some good (I didn't say reliable!) pointers or just a good laugh, you might like to check out the list of common phrases used by women below, kindly compiled by yours truly. When a woman says: YES This means "No." NO This means, you guessed it, "Yes." MAYBE 80% of the time, this is also a "No." Unless you want to risk it. I'M SORRY I'm sorry boys, but this really means, "You'll be sorry." FINE This is the word women use to end an argument when they feel they are right and you need to shut up. Never use "fine" to describe how a woman looks -- this will cause you to have one of those arguments. FIVE MINUTES This is half an hour. Kick off your shoes and find a good game on TV. NOTHING

WW W.V NBMAG AZINE.C OM

62

This means “something”, and you should be on your toes. “Nothing” is usually used to describe the feeling a woman has of wanting to turn you inside out, upside down, and backwards front. “Nothing” usually signifies an argument that will last “Five Minutes” and end with “Fine”. WE NEED TO TALK This means she needs “Five Minutes” to complain about something you’ve done. GO AHEAD (with raised eyebrows) This is a dare. A dare that will result in a woman getting upset over “Nothing” and will end with the word “Fine”. GO AHEAD (with normal eyebrows) This means “I give up” or “do what you want because I don’t care”. You will get a “Raised Eyebrow Go Ahead” in a few moments, followed by “Nothing” and “Fine” and “We Need To Talk” in about “Five Minutes” when she cools off. IT’S YOUR DECISION Don’t cheer, don’t leap. Because the correct decision should be obvious by now, and only one of them will stop her from giving you a “Raised Eyebrow Go Ahead”. THAT’S OKAY This is one of the most dangerous statements a woman can make to a man. “That’s Okay” means that she wants to think long and hard before paying you back for whatever it is that you have done. “That’s Okay” is often used with the word “Fine” and in conjunction with a “Raised Eyebrow.” I’M NOT UPSET Of course she's upset, you moron! HOW DOES MY BUTT LOOK? Regardless of whether her butt looks fat, round or blue, just tell her she's the most beautiful creature that ever graced our solar system. YOU HAVE TO LEARN TO COMMUNICATE This means that the only reason for the lack of communication going on is you not agreeing with whatever she's saying. I'M NOT YELLING! Yes, of course she's yelling, but don't worry, this will end in about "Five Minutes" with the word "Fine." LOUD SIGH This is not actually a word but a non-verbal sound often misunderstood by men. A "Loud Sigh" means she thinks you are an idiot at the moment, and wonders why she is wasting her time standing here and arguing with you over "Nothing". SOFT SIGH Again, not a word but a non-verbal sound. A "Soft Sigh" means that she is content. Your best bet is to not move or breathe, and she will stay content. PLEASE DO Contrary to what you might have come to expect, this is not a dare, it is an offer. A woman is giving you the chance to come up with whatever excuse or reason you have for doing whatever it is that you have done. You have a fair chance with the truth, so be careful with your next words. And you should never get a "That's Okay". THANKS A LOT A woman will say, "Thanks A Lot" when she is really pissed at you. It signifies that you have offended her in some callous way, and if you still don't get it, you will hear the "Loud Sigh." Be careful not to ask what is wrong after the "Loud Sigh," as she will only tell you "Nothing". THANKS Hey, wow, a woman is thanking you! This is actually very dif ferent from “Thanks A Lot.” Do not faint, do not hyperventilate. Take a deep breath, smile, and just say, “You’re welcome.” Easy peasy.
