Exquisite Vintage Bulgari Necklace
AN EXCLUSIVE CONVERSATION WITH MAURICE MORADOF, CEO OF YAFA
Q: For those who may not be familiar, how would you describe YAFA to someone hearing the name for the rst time?
A: YAFA is unlike anything else in the jewelry world. We began 40 years ago not as a retailer, but as a trusted supplier to the vintage departments and private museums of the world’s most prestigious jewelry houses. Over time, serious collectors discovered us and began coming to us directly, and that demand ultimately brought us into retail. Today, we are recognized as the largest curator of museum quality, signed collectible jewelry in the world. Every piece we carry is rare, important, and historically significant. We are not simply selling jewelry, we are offering access to objects that belong in a category of their own.
Q: How has YAFA been able to assemble what many consider the most important inventory of collectible jewelry on Earth?
A: It comes down to four decades of relationships and an unwavering focus on a very specific niche. Over the years, we have cultivated deep connections with estate attorneys, auction houses, private dealers, wholesalers, and retailers across the globe. Because of the reputation we have built, our office is very often the first phone call made when something truly exceptional comes to market. That kind of access is not something you can create overnight, it is earned over a lifetime in this business. We have stayed focused on signed and collectible jewelry, and that singular dedication has allowed us to become the dominant force in what is admittedly a very small, very rarefied world.
Q: You o en speak about jewelry as an alternative asset. Can you explain that philosophy?
A: I would start by saying that it’s not just a philosophy, it’s a fact. The pieces that make it into our inventory are not fashion, they are part of jewelry history. A signed Cartier bracelet from the 1940’s, a Van Cleef & Arpels suite worn by royalty, a one of a kind JAR creation, these are objects of absolute scarcity. They cannot be reproduced, and the supply only diminishes over time as pieces enter museums and private collections permanently. What we
bring to our clients, including our rare diamond offerings, are assets that have consistently appreciated in value for generations. Discerning collectors understand this. They are not just acquiring something beautiful, they are making an investment in something irreplaceable. It is jewelry as a store of value, and in today’s world, that conversation is more relevant than ever.
Q: You rst opened in New York, then a retail location in Palm Beach, and have now expanded to Bal Harbour Shops in Miami. at has that journey been like?
A: Both retail locations came entirely from client demand, and that is the most gratifying part of the story. Palm Beach chose us as much as we chose it. It is a community with a profound appreciation for the rare and the extraordinary, and we found an immediate home there seven years ago. Miami and Bal Harbour Shops felt like a natural evolution. It is one of the
most sophisticated retail environments in the world, attracting an international clientele that understands quality and appreciates scarcity. The response has been extraordinary. There is a real hunger for what we offer, as people are seeking meaning and permanence in what they acquire, and that is precisely what YAFA represents. Our 5th Avenue showroom is by appointment only.
Q: How would you describe the YAFA client experience? at sets it apart from even the nest luxury retailers?
A: Even the finest luxury retailers are, at their core, selling product. We are building collections. When a client walks through our doors, we take the time to understand their vision, their history, and what moves them. We then work alongside them, sometimes over many years, to help them acquire pieces that are cohesive, meaningful, and grow in value together. It is an intimate, deeply personal process. Our clients are intelligent, sophisticated individuals who recognize that what we are offering is genuinely one of a kind. That kind of trust is something we take very seriously, and it is at the heart of everything YAFA does.

Beach ELEGANCE ON THE
By Michelle Payer
Long before Acqualina Resort & Residences, The Mansions, or The Estates at Acqualina fronted a now-prestigious stretch of manicured lawns and pristine white sand, Sunny Isles Beach was largely undeveloped — a quiet outpost along South Florida’s coastline.
In 1980, Jules Trump and his wife, Stephanie, first vacationed in Miami with their three children and discovered acres of undeveloped land west of Sunny Isles, south of Aventura. Though neither was in hospitality at the time, they were seasoned customer-service entrepreneurs whose instincts,
combined with the opportunity to purchase 84 acres of waterfront land, sparked an ambitious concept for luxury living. Together with Jules’ brother Eddie, they purchased the property just nine days later, calling it the fastest and most impulsive business decision they had ever made.
At the time, affluent New York vacationers rarely ventured south of Palm Beach, but The Trump Group believed they could change that with a lifestyle development unlike anything South Florida had seen. Within five years, they opened Williams Island — named after Jules and Eddie’s

father — attracting discerning residents with unprecedented amenities and enlisting screen legend Sophia Loren as a global brand ambassador.
Their friendship with Loren led to research trips to Italy to source antiquities, materials, and architectural inspiration. Robin Leach, host of the television phenomenon Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous, even filmed an episode documenting their Italian journey and later produced additional segments about Loren’s life at Williams Island.
The development’s success gave Jules and The Trump Group the confidence to expand beyond a members-only beach club for Williams Island residents and create a full-scale resort along what Jules would call “The Florida Riviera.” They chose the name Acqualina, inspired by the phrase “at the water’s edge,” to reflect their Mediterranean-inspired philosophy.
“Our whole theme was a Mediterranean look — the water, the food, the architecture, the service, the lifestyle, and the landscaping,” Jules explains. “All the things we sought to introduce with Williams Island, we created here.”
To bring that vision to life, they hired architectural illustrator Alan Gleichman to transform their ideas into a visual blueprint. Global partnerships soon followed with renowned brands including Il Mulino New York, ESPA, and Luxury Living.
In 2006, Acqualina Resort & Residences opened its doors, with Deborah Yager Fleming serving as a key member of the pre-opening team. She would soon help guide the property into rarefied territory as one of the world’s most celebrated luxury resorts.

THE GREAT
Outdoors
By Shayne Benowitz
There is a stretch of shoreline where the glittering aquamarine waters of the Atlantic meet powdery white sand and an elegant Mediterranean-inspired tower rises above the coast, beckoning travelers from around the world. Here, signature red lounge chairs and umbrellas line the beach and extend across lushly landscaped gardens and three oceanfront pools, inviting guests to embrace a refined seaside lifestyle.
This was the vision realized by Jules and Eddie Trump and their family when they opened Acqualina Resort & Residences in 2006 — to create a true Florida Riviera.
“Our original vision was to build a family-run hotel that captured the spirit of the finest resorts in Saint-Tropez, paired with the elegance and sophistication of the world’s great city hotels,” reflects Jules. “We believed hospitality was missing exceptional amenities and thoughtful creature
comforts, especially for guests spending the day by the beach — from elevated dining and beverages to highly personalized service.”
Today, Acqualina’s renowned hospitality and exceptional amenities are the result of its enduring commitment as an independent, family-owned boutique resort. The brothers are joined by Stephanie Trump, Jules’ wife, and CEO and Partner Deborah Yager Fleming, who has been part of the journey since the very beginning.
“We consider our hotel our home,” says Deborah. “We want our guests to feel as though they are staying in the home of a close friend. Our employees are part of our family, and we value and recognize them just as much as our guests. For an independent hotel, creating an emotional connection is what continues to inspire loyalty and lasting relationships.”

New York’s LEGENDARY RESTAURANT AVRA
By Juliana Accioly
Avra Miami, located at The Estates at Acqualina, is a collaboration between restaurateurs Nick Tsoulos, Nick Pashalis, and Marc Packer, offering a gastronomic journey through the pleasures of Greece.
The journey begins before guests even step inside the elegant 12,000-square-foot restaurant. The entryway features a bougainvilleaentwined pergola set against the backdrop of three striking salt-stone sculptures. Inside, an airy, high-ceilinged dining room with seating for 330 guests is adorned in crisp white tones and warm brass finishes, flowing seamlessly onto a lush oceanfront terrace.
Guests of Acqualina Resort & Residences can access the sophisticated space via an exclusive sky bridge connecting the resort to the restaurant.
Dining at Avra is an invitation into the warm hospitality of a team devoted to exceptional service. Each course pays homage to Greece’s rich culinary traditions, shaped by the country’s storied history, Mediterranean climate, and appreciation for simple, high-quality ingredients.
Signature dishes include Chilean sea bass souvlaki and grilled halloumi finished with a drizzle of honey, alongside Miami-inspired offerings
such as ceviche and classic Dover sole. Freshness and flavor remain at the heart of the Avra experience.
Guests are invited to select fish and seafood from an impressive display of the day’s catch — a signature element of the restaurant. Familiar favorites such as branzino and red snapper are presented alongside Mediterranean delicacies including fagri and lithrini. Selections may be served as ceviche or carpaccio, baked in a salt crust, or grilled whole over charcoal and finished with Avra’s signature ladolemono sauce.
An extensive wine collection featuring more than 1,200 labels complements the menu, alongside an exceptional by-the-glass program showcasing wines from around the world.
The restaurant also features a striking 22-seat, 360-degree bar where guests can enjoy a curated collection of spirits, including rare American whiskies and Greek specialties such as ouzo and mastiha.
For a refreshing finale, guests may indulge in one of the Greek-inspired cocktails, such as the Santorini — a vibrant blend of Hendrick’s Gin, Crop Cucumber Vodka, Giffard Pamplemousse liqueur, and fresh basil.
New York ELEVATED EXPERIENCES AT IL MULINO
By Angela Caraway-Carlton
Long before it became a celebrated dining destination at Acqualina Resort & Residences, Il Mulino New York began as a humble trattoria in New York City’s Greenwich Village in 1981. The restaurant quickly developed a devoted following for its uncompromising approach to authentic Italian cuisine.
Inspired by the culinary traditions of Italy’s Abruzzo region, Il Mulino became renowned for its generous hospitality, impeccable service, and menu rooted in time-honored recipes prepared with the finest imported ingredients. Over the decades, its reputation expanded far beyond the Village, earning international acclaim and attracting celebrities, business leaders, and discerning diners drawn to its classic approach to Italian dining.
Today, that same legacy continues at Il Mulino New York at Acqualina Resort, where the restaurant remains an integral part of the resort’s culinary identity. Known for expertly
crafted dishes that rival the finest restaurants in Italy, dramatic tableside presentations, and an oceanfront terrace overlooking the beach, Il Mulino New York has become a beloved fixture at the resort.
Part of the restaurant’s enduring appeal lies in its ability to evolve while remaining true to the traditions cherished by its loyal clientele. The thoughtfully designed space enhances the guest experience with an elegant dining room, an intimate private dining area, and a welcoming bar. The design reinterprets Il Mulino’s timeless identity through a refined lens where classic sophistication meets modern romance.
The interiors are infused with a subtle coastal sensibility, incorporating sand-toned walls, curated artwork, and earthy green accents that reflect the brightness and cultural vibrancy of South Florida. Elegant velvet-quilted booths anchor the dining room, while vintage-inspired artwork adds character and storytelling throughout the restaurant.
TIMELESS ITALIAN TRADITION, ELEVATED BY COASTAL ELEGANCE.
Colorful murals celebrating Italian culture are balanced by rich wood tones and serene neutral textures, creating an atmosphere that feels both welcoming and distinctly refined. The dining room features sculptural U-shaped banquettes and intimate seating arrangements designed to elevate comfort and ambiance.
The private dining room is defined by a custom mural that adds depth and visual intrigue, while the bar is accented with luxurious tilework and rich wood detailing. As a striking focal point of the space, the bar creates a memorable arrival experience and sets the tone for the dining journey that follows.
Guests who prefer dining outdoors may enjoy Il Mulino’s state-of-theart retractable roof, which expands seating on the terrace and allows diners to savor ocean breezes and sweeping views in comfort. During
the day, sunlight pours through the open-air roof; by evening, guests dine beneath the glow of the moon. When needed, the retractable roof seamlessly closes to shelter guests from the elements.
No matter the time of day, there are countless reasons to dine at Il Mulino, where approximately 90 percent of the ingredients are imported from Italy. Lunch offers an elegant midday escape with crisp white tablecloths and tuxedo-clad servers attending to every detail. Diners will find lighter fare ranging from fresh salads to classic mozzarella caprese, alongside refined portions of signature dishes such as branzino.
Guests may begin or conclude their meal with one of Il Mulino’s seasonal craft cocktails featuring house-made syrups and infused liquors, expertly prepared by the restaurant’s master mixologists.
Serenity SWEET
With a collection of offerings found only within its tranquil walls, it is no surprise that Acqualina Spa has earned the prestigious Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star rating.
When setting the tone for a day of restorative serenity, the backdrop certainly helps. Spanning 20,000 square feet, the spa offers ample space to introduce treatments and amenities not readily found at neighboring resorts.
Before any treatment begins, guests are invited to unwind in either the co-ed or women’s relaxation lounge. The experience starts in one of these beautifully appointed spaces, where floor-to-ceiling windows overlook the ocean and glowing candlelight, plush chaises, and curated refreshments create an atmosphere of complete tranquility.
It is here that the spa truly begins to distinguish itself.
THE SALT LIFE
Within each relaxation lounge stands a softly illuminated Himalayan salt wall, immediately recognizable by its calming blush-pink hue. Sourced from the Himalayan mountain range and believed to be among the purest salts on earth,
Himalayan salt has been used for centuries and was valued by the ancient Egyptians for its restorative properties.
The walls contain 84 trace minerals believed to resonate harmoniously with the body, promoting relaxation, improved mood, and an enhanced sense of well-being. Additional benefits often associated with Himalayan salt walls include stress relief, increased vitality and energy, improved air quality through negative ions, and reduced electromagnetic pollution.
What better way to begin a day of pampering than by clearing away modern-day stressors?
THE WATER RITUALS
Guests are encouraged to explore the Ritual Flow self-guided contrast therapy experiences located in both the men’s and women’s locker rooms. These rituals guide guests through a restorative progression of heat, steam, and cold therapies.
The Finnish dry sauna begins the detoxifying cycle, while the cold plunge stimulates circulation, reduces inflammation, sharpens mental clarity, and helps reset the nervous system.
AT ACQUALINA SPA, WELLNESS IS ELEVATED TO AN ART FORM WHERE RESTORATIVE RITUALS, OCEANFRONT SERENITY, AND THOUGHTFUL LUXURY COME TOGETHER TO RENEW BODY, MIND, AND SPIRIT.
The crystal steam room incorporates chromotherapy — a flowing sequence of colors believed to balance energy and stimulate the body’s seven chakras. Following the steam experience, guests may conclude the ritual at the ice fountain, gently applying crushed ice to the face and body to refresh the skin, calm inflammation, and seal in the invigorating benefits of contrast therapy.
THE ROYAL TREATMENTS
The spa’s treatments are thoughtfully designed to restore balance, rejuvenate the body, and calm the mind. From deeply restorative massages and customized facials to holistic body rituals inspired by global wellness traditions, each therapy is tailored to create a deeply personalized experience.
These highly effective treatments combine nutrient-rich botanicals with advanced techniques to nourish the skin, restore radiance, and evoke the sensory essence of the Mediterranean countryside.
POOL HOPPING
Outside, the spa pool on the private terrace beckons guests to unwind beneath the sun. Nearby, a Roman waterfall cascades into the adjoining heated jet pool, where warm waters gently ease tension from tired muscles and shoulders.
Bright red loungers overlook the Atlantic Ocean, creating the perfect setting to relax while enjoying serene ocean views and fruit-infused waters served poolside.
OUT TO LUNCH
A day of pampering naturally inspires a healthy appetite, and the spa’s cuisine reflects its wellness philosophy. Guests may enjoy nourishing selections from the spa menu, thoughtfully prepared by the resort’s accomplished culinary team.
Whether seeking the invigorating effects of a cold plunge or the calming glow of chakra-balancing chromotherapy, one thing is certain: Acqualina Spa offers a uniquely indulgent wellness experience rivaled by few.

Legacy THE DISCREET
By Michelle Payer
From Williams Island to Acqualina Resort & Residences, The Mansions at Acqualina, and The Estates at Acqualina, The Trump Group transformed South Florida’s residential landscape by delivering what luxury homeowners desire — one visionary development at a time.
With Deborah Yager Fleming leading the resort’s evolution, The Trump Group expanded its vision with The Mansions at Acqualina, developed on the site of the former La Playa Motel. Marketed as “The World’s Finest Residences,” the project introduced 79 “single-family homes in the sky,” designed according to what Jules Trump describes as a philosophy of “building from the inside out.”
“Rather than hiring a star architect to design a beautiful exterior and then fitting the condominiums inside it, we reverse the process,” Jules explains. “We design the interiors first so that form follows function. We always put residents first — and the buildings still turn out beautifully as a result.”
Those priorities translated into expansive residences of up to 9,000 square feet, each offering direct ocean views, oversized walk-in closets, separate bathrooms, outdoor summer kitchens, and exceptional amenities.
Residents also enjoy features such as wine rooms with private lockers, a golf simulator, a Turkish hammam, a Rolls-Royce house car, and a private bridge connecting directly to Acqualina Resort & Residences.
“Our entire approach is centered on anticipating what customers want,” says Jules. “Even before the pandemic, we recognized the growing demand for additional rooms for families. The Mansions was essentially designed as a threebedroom building with the option for four bedrooms. Then came home offices, and we began designing five-bedroom residences for The Estates.”
During this period, The Trump Group was engaged in an eight-year negotiation to acquire the adjacent Golden Strand Villa Resort — once home to Babe Ruth — where they envisioned The Estates at Acqualina, a $1.8 billion oceanfront residential development.
When Hurricane Irma struck in 2017, the newly acquired property sustained significant damage. In response, The Trump Group partnered with baseball legends Derek Jeter and Jorge Posada to donate the resort’s furniture to residents affected by the storm in Puerto Rico and the Florida Keys.
FROM WILLIAMS ISLAND TO ACQUALINA, THE MANSIONS, AND THE ESTATES, THE TRUMP GROUP REDEFINES LUXURY LIVING BY PLACING
THE RESIDENT EXPERIENCE AT THE CENTER OF EVERY DESIGN, AMENITY, AND DETAIL.
Construction on The Estates began in 2018, and The Trump Group achieved another milestone by persuading the late legendary designer Karl Lagerfeld to design his first-ever condominium lobbies.
“We wanted a name that would give the building worldwide recognition,” Jules says. “It took a great deal of persuasion because Lagerfeld had never undertaken anything like this before. But when he saw our extensive red design book and everything we envisioned, he kept saying, ‘Magnifique! Magnifique!’”
Working from a scale model, Lagerfeld meticulously designed every detail of the lobbies.
“He was incredibly specific,” Jules recalls. “One day he brought in a mug and said, ‘This is the color — don’t deviate from it.’ It was a cerulean blue.”
Every residence at The Estates at Acqualina was designed to feel like a penthouse, featuring onyx bathrooms, French La Cornue ranges, outdoor saunas, summer kitchens, and sweeping ocean views from every room.
The furniture-ready concept allows residents to move in effortlessly, while carefully designed balconies preserve uninterrupted vistas of the Atlantic Ocean.
At the center of the two towers stands a 45,000-square-foot amenity villa offering an extraordinary collection of lifestyle experiences, including a bowling alley, fitness center, movie theater, speakeasy, indoor ice-skating rink, children’s and teens’ activity rooms, and Avra Miami, the celebrated Greek restaurant.
Outdoors, more than two-and-a-half acres of landscaped gardens unfold into a resort-style playground featuring multiple pools — including one with a waterslide — as well as an outdoor fitness area, basketball court, soccer field, FlowRider wave simulator, and a pristine stretch of beach along the Atlantic Ocean.
The result is precisely what The Trump Group envisioned: a development that continually elevates the standard for luxury living.
“Our philosophy has always centered on the living experience,” Jules says. “That is what we believe in, and it is what people respond to. Most importantly, it begins with having exceptional people and treating them with respect.”
Guided by the Acqualina Promise, every project integrates health and wellness with lush garden environments to create an extraordinary lifestyle defined by five-star service, expansive family-oriented design, world-class amenities, and enduring emotional loyalty.
