BRANDING STYLE

GUIDE

2

B u t Wh y h av e a b r a n d i n g / s t y l e g u i d e ? A style guide puts rules in place not to limit creativity, but to keep our brand identity consistent and recognizable. With brand guidelines in place, we can ensure our brand’s elements are used effectively and look professional any time they are used. When the elements in our brand are used in the correct way consistently, we can build a recognizable brand that is attractive and inviting while contributing to audience awareness. Our brand style guide will also help show our business is well-established and will even help us update our brand in the future based on the expansion and needs of the industry. Without well-defined guidelines, our design elements and marketing materials will likely end up all over the place, lacking cohesion and consistency. Designers, writers and anyone else involved in the external and internal promotion of our company can use this guide to ensure we’re creating content that is unified in style and feel, ensuring everyone is on the same page.

When we do this right we have a business that creates opportunities, opens doors and takes us to places we could only dream of. One that gives you choice, freedom and respect.

PURPOSE

INSPIRING THE NEXT GENERATION OF RISING STARS.

5

ABOUT US Our Mission, at Inspire Studios, is to inspire excellence, foster character, strengthen confidence, and build community through theatrical arts training, performance and fellowship, in a safe and healthy environment.

WE ARE MORE THAN JUST AN ACTING STUDIO.

6

M A I N LO G O | I D E N T I TY Our logo is essentially the face of our business and it sets the tone and aesthetic of our entire brand. We want our logo to always look great across all marketing materials, web pages, social media profiles, swag and more. Our logo is going to reach a wide range of consumers, creating a perception of trustworthiness. We want to protect our core branding by reducing logo variation. Vertical or “Stacked” logo mark. This mark is the most preferred of the two orientations of the logo. It should be used whenever layout allows and where clear space and proximity requirements can be met along with it standing out appropriately on the media on which it appears.

7

8

LO G O | I D E N T I TY Horizontal logo mark. The horizontal logo mark is an alternative to the vertical logo mark and should be used whenever clear space and proximity requirements cannot be met or when it better balances the layout and proportions of the media on which it appears.

* The font used in the creation of the Inspire Studios logo was: Westmeath

10

LO G O | I D E N T I TY Alternative Color Marks. These alternative logo marks (Vertical or “Stacked” and Horizontal) are an alternative to the main full-color logo marks and should be used whenever clear space and proximity requirements cannot be met, or when it better balances the layout and proportions of the media on which it appears. It should also stand out appropriately on the media on which it appears. Lighter colors work well for logo backgrounds with text in darker colors and a dash of color that makes the color scheme “pop” and vice verse with dark colors on light backgrounds.

CO LO R PA L L E T T E Brand consistency helps strengthen brand identity, which in turn builds trust with clients and customers. An important part of our brand’s consistency is achieved by creating a uniform color environment. If the final destination of your design project is anything on a digital screen, then RGB color mode is best. This includes web and app design (buttons, graphics, icons), branding (logos and ads online), social media posts and pictures, and any other visual content (videos, etc). RGB COLORS (DIGITAL USE)

#AB191F

#000000

#CB9E29

#FFFFFF *OUTLINE IS FOR REFERENCE ONLY

13

If the final output for your design project is physical printing, then use CMYK color mode for more accurate results. This includes branding (stationary, business cards, signs), advertising (posters, flyers, brochures), or merchandise (t-shirts, pens, mugs, etc). You don’t want to be using RGB colors for print or vice versa, as they will always come out looking different. CMYK COLORS (PRINT USE) 0%, 85%, 82%, 33%

0%, 22%, 79%, 20%

0%, 0%, 0%, 100%

0%, 0%, 0%, 0%

TYP O G R A PH Y | F O N T S Consistent use of fonts is important for brands. Typography shapes a company’s personality. The goal is always to make it easy for us to use our brand’s fonts consistently and correctly and convey a clean message to the intended audience. The most common mistake with typography is inconsistency. Using different fonts and styles across various platforms can make our brand look unprofessional and confusing. Primary. The most recognizable and frequently used font. MONTSERRAT Secondary. A supplementary font to the primary font. PROXIMA NOVA Specialty. The font used in the creation of the Inspire Studios logo was: Westmeath *This font should only be used in special situations on an as-needed basis. Web safe default. a backup font that displays when a digital device doesn’t support the specified font. The most common fonts include Arial, Verdana, Helvetica, Courier, and Times New Roman.

PH OTO G R A PH Y STYL E “PROFESSIONALLY FUN” Brand imagery is the result of all the visuals that represent our brand’s identity. This is our opportunity to visually communicate with potential students, parents, business partners, etc. With millions of stock images at our fingertips, it’s easy for people to choose photos that are not consistent with our brand. *With our limited access to a full-time photographer, stock photos may be used, but context, audience and quality should always be considered. THINGS TO CONSIDER: AUDIENCE. Who is the intented receiver? (kids, parents, sponsors, etc.) Knowing our audience allows us to pick the design elements to focus on. Audiences are not one-size fits all. Once we figure out what works, stick to it. While we don’t want our images to be bland, they should resemble each other on some level.

19

20

INTERNAL OR EXTERNAL. Internal branding is about communicating our company’s vision and values to our team, volunteers, etc. Ultimately, the goal is to create a positive culture within the organization. External branding is about how we present our company to the outside world, community and beyond. Internal branding is our foundation. It is our origin story, our values and purpose. It is our brand personality, our vibe and the emotions we bring up with our brand. Picking our niche and defining our ideal client also comes under our internal branding. External branding is our visuals inluding our logo, colors, typography, patterns, icons and illustrations. Everything we put out there is visual and that is our external branding. If we just make pretty visuals, without the foundations and clearly knowing what will attract our ideal client, we might get disappointed. We need to remember – it is not entirely about us. It is not about whether we like our visuals but it also wouldn’t make sense if we hate our brand’s visuals. The most important thing is that our ideal client is compelled by our external branding; they like what they see and are encouraged to participate.

USE EMPTY SPACE. White space refers to any blank or empty space surrounding all the other elements in a design composition. It is the space between text, images, buttons and other objects that a user can see on a page or a screen. If you’re not careful, using too many elements in your marketing design can confuse and distract viewers, leaving them uncertain of your message or where to focus their attention. Creates Legibility, Clarity and Harmony.

ICONS. CLIPART. We should avoid using clipart as they are not considered original and give the impression of being generic. These images can indicate an unprofessional and amateur approach towards the audience or indicate a rushed design. When clipart and stock photos are overused, it only ruins the prospects of the design. Clipart damages our brand identity, it gives a wrong message to customers, and use of the art may be illegal due to copyright issues. Customers can mistakenly take our organization for another company or business. Consequently, we may lose our identity and our business to our competitors.

23

24

RESOLUTION. When sending a graphic to print, it is recommended to use a resolution of 300dpi, but depending on the quality of the image and the size you’re printing to, you can often get away with using a lower dpi. When it comes to digital, the resolution should be set to no less than 150dpi.

25

26

SIZES. Many social media channels let us post images that fit just about any dimensions. However, if the images we post don’t match the recommended dimensions, each social channel will automatically crop or adjust them to fit. That means our images might not look the way we expect on our profile or in followers’ feeds. and they may even be missing critical information. Or the message we wanted to share may no longer be clear. Because images are critical components of our social media posts, we should size them correctly. AS OF 2023, ABOUT 99% OF PEOPLE USE MOBILE DEVICES TO ACCESS SOCIAL MEDIA. AS A RESULT, IT’S ESSENTIAL TO OPTIMIZE SOCIAL MEDIA IMAGES FOR MOBILE ON EVERY CHANNEL.
