About the Visual Effects Society

Since 1997, the Visual Effects Society has championed the international visual effects community, uniting professionals around the world with our shared passion for the craft. We are proud to take stock of how much our organization has grown and what we’ve accomplished together – empowering members through professional education and networking, building bridges for artists and technologists to shape the future of visual storytelling, and of course, celebrating innovation and excellence.

As the entertainment industry’s only official professional organization representing the worldwide visual effects community, our membership spans supervisors, artists, producers, technologists, educators, and studio executives – now with more than 5,500 members, and growing every day. From film and television to commercials, games, animation, and new media, our members bring cinematic dreams to life in every corner of the entertainment world.

Our international presence continues to grow stronger, with members in 50+ countries, thanks to the incredible efforts of our regional communities. We’re thrilled to welcome our newest VES Sections in Japan and Spain, bringing our global community to 18 Sections worldwide and expanding opportunities for collaboration, inspiration, and camaraderie.

The annual VES Awards celebrates the visionaries, trailblazers, and innovators who redefine visual storytelling. As we gather for our 24th Annual VES Awards, we honor all of the artists and teams who contributed to the year’s groundbreaking VFX achievements.

Welcome from The Board Chair and Executive Director

Welcome to the 24th Annual VES Awards!

We’re delighted to gather with you to celebrate the magic of visual effects and the visionaries who bring our wildest ideas to life.

Tonight, we shine a spotlight on the remarkable artists, producers, filmmakers, and creators who dazzle us on the big screen and beyond. We have the pleasure of recognizing legendary producer Jerry Bruckheimer as the recipient of this year’s VES Lifetime Achievement Award, and Wētā Workshop co-founder Sir Richard Taylor as this year’s VES Visionary Award recipient. Additionally, we’re thrilled to welcome back The Sklar Brothers as our hosts for the evening.

Our special thanks to the year-round efforts of our VES Awards Committee, who led a rigorous selection process for all submissions, culminating in a total of 60 in-person and virtual peer-led Nomination Events for our members around the world. The incredible work of the Awards Committee, plus the commitment and enthusiasm of all of our voting members worldwide, make this a truly remarkable evening.

On behalf of the VES Board of Directors, our staff and volunteers, and our members around the world, we thank each of you for supporting the visual effects community and celebrating this extraordinary craft. We hope you share our pride in the incredible range of artistry represented tonight.

Now, on with the show!!

Render tonight unforgettable!

Awards Hosts The Sklar Brothers

Identical twins Randy and Jason Sklar, aka The Sklar Brothers, are a post-modern take on a stand up comedy duo. Returning for the second consecutive year, The Sklar Brothers are tonight’s hosts for the 24th Annual VES Awards. The Sklar Brothers have released six critically-acclaimed comedy albums, two “Comedy Central Presents” specials, and a one hour Netflix stand up special titled “What Are We Talking About.” They can currently be seen on Amazon’s sports comedy show “Good Sports,” where they write and perform alongside Kenan Thompson and Kevin Hart.

Randy and Jason are also writers, directors, and actors appearing in a wide variety of shows, including “Entourage,” “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia,” “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” “Better Call Saul,” “Grey’s Anatomy,” “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation,” and much more. They are also known for their ESPN Classic cult-hit show “Cheap Seats,” their UFC original series “The Nosebleeds,” and as hosts and producers of the History Channel’s “United Stats of America.” In December, Randy and Jason led “The Altcast From The Cheap Seats” on TruTV and HBO Max. Most importantly, Randy and Jason are fathers and husbands living in Los Angeles. (Not with each other – that would be weird.)

VES Lifetime Achievement Award Recipient Jerry Bruckheimer

The most successful film and television producer of all time, Academy Award-nominated Jerry Bruckheimer’s credits include the monumentally successful “Pirates of the Caribbean,” “Top Gun,” “National Treasure,” “Bad Boys,” and “Beverly Hills Cop” franchises, as well as such hits as “Black Hawk Down,” “Pearl Harbor,” “Remember the Titans,” “Enemy of the State,” “Armageddon,” “Con Air,” “The Rock,” “Crimson Tide,” and “Flashdance.”

Jerry’s most recent blockbuster, 2025’s “F1,” became not only the highest grossing sports movie of all time, but also the biggest movie in the storied career of star Brad Pitt. “F1” was helmed by “Top Gun: Maverick” director Joseph Kosinski and produced alongside 7-time F1 world champion Sir Lewis Hamilton. The previous year, Jerry’s slate included four new releases, notably including “Bad Boys: Ride or Die,” starring Will Smith and Martin Lawrence for the fourth time in the beloved series. “Ride or Die” went on to take the “Bad Boys” franchise to over $1 billion in total grosses. Jerry also recently scored the biggest hit of his career with “Top Gun: Maverick,” which reunited him with Tom Cruise for a long-awaited sequel to the 1986 original. “Maverick” ended its theatrical run with an unbelievable global box office of nearly $1.5B, landing at #5 on the all-time list. The film received six Academy Award nominations including Best Picture and won the Oscar for Best Sound.

Jerry is also one of the most dominant producers on television, with four series currently on the air, including Season 38 of the ten-time Emmy Award–winning “The Amazing Race.” Together, “Fire Country” (#1 new broadcast show 2022), “Sheriff Country” (spinoff of “Fire Country” and #2 new broadcast show 2025), and “Boston Blue” (expansion of the beloved “Blue Bloods” series and #1 new broadcast show 2025) make up CBS’s “Bruckheimer Fridays” programming block. He has also produced some of the most successful television series of the past 25 years, beginning with the global phenomenon “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation,” which quickly became the number one show in the world and spawned five spin-offs.

In a career spanning more than 50 years, Jerry’s productions have been recognized with countless awards including Oscars, Emmys, Golden Globes, People’s Choice, Critics Choice, and Grammy honors.

VES Visionary Award Recipient Sir Richard Taylor

Richard Taylor is the co-founder of the Wētā companies and co-owner of Wētā Workshop, along with his wife Tania Rodger. Established in their home city of Wellington, New Zealand, Wētā Workshop is a multifaceted, award-winning creative studio that has provided the design and physical effects for more than 160 films, numerous television shows, and multiple location-based experiences. Notable titles include the globally acclaimed “The Lord of the Rings” and “The Hobbit” trilogies, as well as “The Chronicles of Narnia,” “King Kong,” “Avatar,” “District 9,” “Ghost in the Shell,” “Mulan,” “Thor,” “Black Panther,” and “Alien: Romulus,” to name a few. As a passionate creative with more than 30 years of experience, Richard collaborates each day with his colleagues across a diverse range of artistic and technical disciplines.

Richard has won five Academy Awards© across three disciplines, for special effects makeup, visual effects, and costume design. He has also received four BAFTAs, three THEA Awards and more than 35 national and international awards for his work within the creative industries. In 2010, Richard was made a Knight Companion of the NZ Order of Merit for his services to film, and voted New Zealand Entrepreneur of the Year, and in 2012 he was named New Zealander of the Year.

Richard and Tania also co-own the children’s IP development and television production company Pukeko Pictures, along with business and creative partner Martin Baynton. Pukeko developed the award-winning television shows “Jane and the Dragon,” “The Wot Wots,” “Kiddets,” “Book Hungry Bears,” and reimagined the Gerry Anderson classic “Thunderbirds Are Go.” Pukeko has also forged co-production relationships with China, creating the first-ever co-production in children’s television between China and New Zealand.

Richard and Tania continue to be active within the Wellington community, serving as patrons of the Little Miracles Trust, and giving their time to numerous charity projects and initiatives. They also co-own Stardog LP, a fine art and IP development company that works with young artists to help them realise their own creative endeavours.
