Andar de skate em uma grande cidade é uma das coisas mais normais e legais que se pode fazer, o skate é nato de cidade grande, de um lugar urbano. Tudo que usamos está nas ruas para ser ocupado. Só que o skate está muito além de tudo isso também. Chegou também em lugares completamente diferentes da normalidade urbana, da Etiópia até o Alaska e tantos outros lugares que nunca se pensaria a possibilidade de ter alguém andando de skate lá.

Aqui no Brasil é a mesma coisa. Em São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Salvador, Porto Alegre, Curitiba e Brasília é bem normal pensar em picos pra andar de skate, mas o país tem distâncias gigantescas e pouco sabidas da população que vive nos grandes centros. Por exemplo a cena de skate em Manaus, capital do estado do Amazonas, que fica a 3h30 de voo direto de São Paulo, ou seja, bem longe mesmo de avião, e os custos disso complicam mais ainda essa conexão física com o pessoal lá.

POR DALMO ROGER COM PARTICIPAÇÃO DE FERNANDO DENTI E AYMERIC NOCUS

Skate é mental, é físico, mas e antes? Soy Panda é um skatista que vive no sonho do sonho, na frente da uma das marcas de shape mais consideradas da europa. Mas antes de tudo, é uma skatista, que sonha com skate na rua, com os amigos. A conversa com Dalmo Roger e mais uns sonhadores faz a gente pensar na vida, na mente, no skate.

Dalmo Roger: Às vezes, a casa do futuro é melhor construída, mais leve e maior do que todas as casas do passado, para que a imagem da casa dos sonhos se opõe à da casa da infância. Talvez seja bom para nós manter alguns sonhos de uma casa em que devemos viver mais tarde. Citando Gaston Bachelard: “A Poética do Espaço”. Vamos falar sobre Impermanence!

É engraçado porque para mim parece que as casas ficam cada vez menores com cada geraçăo. Vejo que os antigos apartamentos parisienses estão sendo divididos para fazer vários apartamentos menores, com os preços subindo e tornando-se inacessíveis para qualquer um comprar. Além disso, no passado você era um bebê, tudo ao seu redor parecia gigantesco. A nostalgia também desempenha um papel, a casa da infância geralmente é preenchida com boas lembranças despreocupadas.

Dito isto, sim, eu concordo que devemos manter alguns sonhos. Os sonhos são tudo para mim, ou melhor, tudo é um sonho. Eu acredito que somos energia que se percebe como material, com a própria vida sendo um sonho em que você materializa seus sonhos/pensamentos em sua própria realidade. A realidade ao seu redor é diferente da realidade em torno de outra pessoa. Talvez ao seu redor, sempre haja atividade e energia, e em torno de outra pessoa, sempre há paz e sossego. Eu vejo isso como diferentes sonhos pessoais. Quando você conhece alguém novo, você entra no sonho dela e ela entra no seu. Toda casa que já foi construída era o sonho de alguém primeiro. Então, o importante para mim é aprender a sonhar. Para sonhar a sua vida e materializá-la.

Dalmo Roger: Como é o ambiente de trabalho e a cultura da empresa? Sim ... Vamos falar sobre Magenta, negócios e muito dinheiro no primeiro momento dessa entrevista.

Bem, para mim, o ambiente de trabalho é o meu quarto, em Paris. É aí que está a minha mesa, então é daí que eu trabalho.

Eu acho que também descreve a cultura da empresa, porque já não temos um escritório. Vivien (Feil) e Gaetan (Salvignol) estão em Bordeaux, cerca de 3 horas de trem de Paris, no sul da França. Eles trabalham às vezes da casa de Vivien, às vezes da sala de estar de Gaetan. Jean (Feil), o irmão de Vivien, lida com o estoque e o frete, do nosso estoque em Estrasburgo, no leste da França, também cerca de 3 horas de trem de Paris.

Não é uma “organização empresarial” muito comum. Todos nós temos outro trabalho paralelamente, então podemos fazer a Magenta por paixão. A cultura da empresa é relativamente tranquila, mas todos estão trabalhando muito duro.

Dalmo Roger: Através dos olhos de um panda. Você me disse que era um processo antigo em que você estava trabalhando. Agora você está trabalhando e lidando com a natureza divina do inconsciente. Natureza vibracional e estrutura da realidade. Chamou minha atenção por algum motivo. Você pode nos contar um pouco dessa experiência “nova”? Experimento?

Tema complexo, mas vou tentar explicar.

Através dos olhos de um Panda era um lugar para colocar meus primeiros desenhos quando eu comecei a desenhar de novo. Eu não tinha uma direção real, eu estava principalmente praticando desenho, desenhando coisas ao meu redor, coisas que chamavam minha atenção.

A natureza da realidade sempre me interessou. Eu gosto de tentar entender as coisas, mesmo que seja impossível fazer.

Sempre tive muitas perguntas, como uma criança. Porque estamos aqui? O que é a vida? O que acontece após a morte? e antes do nascimento? Deus existe e, em caso afirmativo, o que é isso? Eu acredito em Deus? Por que estamos presos em 3 dimensões? Se houver apenas 3 dimensões, então, onde no espaço estão pensamentos, sonhos, emoções, intuições? Eles estão “dentro” de nossas mentes? Mas onde e o que é a mente? Tudo o que é invisível e imaterial - o inconsciente tambémonde está? E o que é isso? E por que é

isso? Porque minha mãe tem uma doença genética e eu cresci observando sua luta, eu também estava muito interessado em saúde e medicina. Por que algumas pessoas são saudáveis e outras nascem com uma doença? Parece injusto.

Por que uma pessoa adorável como minha mãe seria punida com uma doença paralisante degenerativa? Fiquei interessado no fenômeno da sorte. Como algumas pessoas têm sorte e algumas pessoas não têm sorte. Criamos nossa sorte?

Nascemos com sorte ou azarado? Podemos “controlar” nossa sorte? Se a vida é um sonho, então, como pode escalar em um pesadelo? Eu acredito que a vida - seu sonho - pode se transformar em um pesadelo se você cair da sua freqüência normal. No campo da medicina, fiquei interessado no efeito placebo, porque era um fenômeno tão estranho; de repente, um “ato teatral” poderia “enganar” sua mente e sua mente curaria seu corpo. Isso me levou ao papel do inconsciente na realidade física. Ao mesmo tempo, vi que meus desenhos estavam evoluindo - não era uma decisão consciente. Eu gostei de desenhar animais e comecei a desenhar mais deles - eu não sabia por quê. Eu acho que era melhor para eles do que atrair pessoas ou coisas. Depois de um tempo, os animais me levaram ao conceito de animais totem / espirituosos. Comecei a pensar “Talvez eu esteja desenhando animais totem”. “O que é um animal totem? E por que eu estou desenhando? “Esta parte, eu só estou começando a entender. As formas geométricas também me fascinavam, havia algo sobre geometria espacial que sempre gostava, mas também não sabia o porquê. A geometria espacial levou-me à idéia das dimensões espaciais, e a partir dos 3, a curiosidade viajou para uma quarta. Isso me levou ao hipercubo, que é um cubo hipotético de 4 dimensões, que comecei a desenhar alguns anos atrás, já após um ano ou dois de desenho de formas geométricas ao lado desses “animais totem”. A possível existência de uma quarta dimensão invisível era fascinante, porque o mundo que vemos ao nosso redor está em 3 dimensões, então uma quarta dimensão só foi vista em programas de TV como Twilight Zone, que obviamente alimentou minha imaginação. Um hipercubo é uma idéia inteiramente teórica ou isso se relaciona com algo na realidade? Poderia haver uma quarta dimensão? Em caso afirmativo, podemos acessá-lo? Como é? As 3 dimensões que conhecemos são frente-atrás, direita-esquerda, para cima-para

baixo. Cada dimensão superior contém o anterior (1 dimensão é frente-atrás, 2 dimensões são frente-atrás + esquerda-direita, 3 dimensões são frente-atrás + esquerda-direita + cima para baixo), então uma quarta dimensão teórica teria que conter a terceira, o que para mim significaria que em uma quarta dimensão, algo poderia ser esquerdo e direito, para cima e para baixo, frente e verso, ao mesmo tempo. Dentro e fora, assim como um pensamento que você está compartilhando com um amigo é ao mesmo tempo dentro de você, entre você e seu amigo, então na mente do seu amigo para sempre, embora não tenha deixado você. Então, começou a ter sentido para mim que essa quarta dimensão invisível era uma dimensão do imaterial. É o domínio espiritual, o dos sonhos, dos pensamentos, dos medos e das emoções. Um novo pensamento que é criado dentro de você, pode viajar para a mente de outra pessoa. É dentro e fora de você, ao mesmo tempo. Percebi que esta era uma dimensão superior (por “superior” eu digo ”mais divino” aqui), porque tudo o que existe era primeiro um pensamento. Era imaterial antes de se materializar. Tivemos que sonhar com voar antes de criar o avião. Você era o sonho de seus pais antes de nascer. Tudo isso naturalmente me levou à idéia de que a quarta dimensão era de natureza divina - um lugar de criação da realidade. E assim, que o inconsciente, que habita naquele lugar, também era um criador da realidade.

Na visão moderna/protestante do mundo, a consciência - e com ela o inconsciente - vem após a questão. Eu pessoalmente acho que vem antes da questão, e que isso cria matéria. Penso que o que consideramos importante são as vibrações que nossos sentidos descrevem como matéria. As cores e as formas são vibrações leves desencriptadas pelo olho, por exemplo, assim como os sons são vibrações do ar decodificadas pelo ouvido interno. Para voltar ao desenho - desde que há um link, desculpe, estou falando muito, percebi que quando você desenha, você desenha uma imagem que aparece pela primeira vez em seu inconsciente. Um desenho é “ditado” para você de dentro. Seu inconsciente divino está lhe dizendo algo em seu próprio idioma - o que é simbólico - e ele aparece como um desenho. Compreendi que, ao desenhar as imagens que apareceriam na minha mente, e ao analisar os símbolos recorrentes, poderia aprender lentamente uma nova linguagem, a linguagem simbólica do meu inconsciente e tentar apren-

der o que me diz, o que ela quer para criar. Para mim, é um guia de vida. Você está criando sua própria realidade, principalmente inconscientemente. Penso que, se você quer criar uma realidade positiva para você, é melhor tentar entender o processo de criação inconsciente. Então, isso faz parte do que estou tentando fazer com meus desenhos. Eles estão me guiando na minha vida. Eles estão me ensinando sobre quem eu sou e sobre o meu destino, e por isso estou sempre tentando decifrar o que eles querem dizer. E, portanto, se meu inconsciente me diz para desenhar animais do tótem por algum motivo, então eu quero pesquisar o assunto, entender o porquê e ir mais fundo nessa direção ... o que eu estou tentando fazer no momento.

Eu escolhi a música para a versão normal “Farewell Transmission” do Song Ohia.

Acho que filmamos por 4 ou 5 dias. Sylvain e eu tinhamos acabado de nos conhecer, ele é da minha cidade natal, de onde me afastei há muito tempo, antes de conhecê-lo. Nós andamos juntos uma vez, então ele me ligou para falar sobre esse projeto de filmagem de Paris através dos olhos de um skatista. Nós imediatamente nos conectamos e eu disse que sim. Ele veio pra Paris para filmar comigo por uma semana, e fizemos esse video.

Hoje ele é como meu irmão. Nós fizemos uns dez filmes curtos juntos. PARISien é muito especial para mim, é como conheci um dos meus irmãos. Se é especial para outras pessoas também, então isso é realmente fantástico.

Com certeza, a marca é uma maneira de espalhar várias mensagens. A mensagem do skate que gostamos por um lado, que será exibida em nossos vídeos e mensagens por gráficos nos shapes, por outro lado. Se eu não estivesse fazendo gráficos pros shapes da Magenta, ninguém saberia da minha arte. De certa maneira, como um coletivo, atraímos pessoas através do nosso estilo de skate, e então eles conseguem ver a arte, e eu posso tentar espalhar minha própria mensagem pessoal lá. Boa pergunta. Acho que fizemos um milhão de pequenos erros: 1. Certifique-se de que seu logotipo funciona em todas as escalas, grandes ou pequenas, e em um único tom, preto e branco. Eu cometi esse erro e então tive que encontrar uma solução.

Fernando Denti: Nos vídeos podemos ver que vocês fizeram muitas conexões ao redor do mundo e fizeram muitos amigos. Diga-nos um lugar que você achou interessante para conhecer e que recomendaria às pessoas, mesmo que não haja skate envolvido.

Provavelmente recomendaria o Japão a todos. Nenhum lugar é perfeito e o Japão também tem seus próprios problemas, mas é uma cultura muito interessante, é imperdível. A maneira como eles ligam valores passados de domínio e perfeição, alma e natureza, em design futurista, é incrível. No mundo moderno, os valores e a moral passados desapareceram.

Dalmo Roger: De volta às artes visuais estéticas. Lembro-me de ler em algum lugar um de seus artistas favoritos é Gustav Klimt. Sou também um grande fã. Paul Klee também tem uma grande influência na minha pesquisa de imagens. Você é um entusiasta de estudar os movimentos estéticos ou você não considera isso muito importante?...e podemos falar sobre isso sem esteticismo.

Eu também amo Paul Klee. O que você quer dizer com o movimento estético? Acabei de pesquisar agora o que é o Movimento Estético, e diz um movimento sobre “arte por causa da arte, sem um papel social ou moral”. Se é isso que você quis dizer na sua pergunta, então você obviamente descobrirá que eu nunca estudei, caso contrário, eu não teria que pesquisá-lo agora...hahaha. Mas parece estranho porque Klimt e Klee não se encaixam com esta definição. Enfim, eu realmente não estudo movimentos de arte de qualquer tipo, para mim, estes são mais como rótulos de marketing. Para mim, a arte fala com a alma, ela toca mais do que o nível consciente. Você não compreende necessariamente porque você gosta de algo, você simplesmente gosta ou não. Um som, uma melodia, uma cor, uma pintura. Acho que ressoa com sua própria vibração. Paul Klee me fez apreciar coisas mais abstratas, como quadrados desenhados à mão. Eu acho que estava em sintonia com a frequência dessas ondas de luz, pensei que eram belas e bem montadas.

Fernando Denti: Sabemos que vocês têm uma boa amizade com pessoal do Japão e isso é visível nos vídeos que você por lá. Falando sobre essas trocas, o que te inspirou mais e isso é parte de você ou da Magenta?

O bem-estar japonês e o respeito são inspiradores, e acho que está na Magenta sempre. Também um amor comum por tradições e cultura antigas, uma cultura de respeito pelos mais velhos, um respeito pela qualidade, pela criação de mestres. Nós tentamos o nosso melhor para incorporar essas noções na Magenta.

Dalmo Roger: O que você mais gosta de fazer quando você não está andando de skate ou pintando? Você tem algum hobby? O que você faz no seu tempo livre? A pergunta mais perigosa de sempre!

Bem, o tempo “de reposição” definitivamente não é abundante na minha vida.

Meu tempo é compartilhado por muitas atividades. A maior parte do tempo é gasto trabalhando na Magenta. Isso inclui desenhar gráficos e fazer o trabalho de photoshop para o layout dos shapes, mas também projetar roupas e imagens, fazer todos os arquivos de produção, acompanhar a produção, fazer catálogos, anúncios, anúncios da Web, coisas assim. Também inclui a criação de collabs que fazemos com outras marcas.

Então eu ando com meus amigos, talvez tente filmar algo se a ocasião surgir, ou às vezes ir em uma viagem de skate.

Eu faço cerca de 20 minutos de ioga todas as manhãs, para meu corpo e minha mente. Isso já faz meus dias bastante completos. Em seguida, saio com meus amigos para tomar umas, ver umas meninas. Os dias são rápidos.

Dalmo Roger: Momento muito sério. Você diria que o processo de cura espiritual pode estar de alguma forma conectado à sua pesquisa de imagem?

A IMPERMANÊNCIA. Tudo em nossas vidas, posses, riquezas, relacionamentos, é temporário e em constante mutação. Nosso corpo, fala, mente e ambiente mudam minuto a minuto, segundo a segundo. No momento em que uma agulha leva para perfurar sessenta pétalas de flores perfiladas.

Nada no universo permanece o mesmo.

Nosso pior inimigo pode algum dia ser nosso melhor amigo. Casais tão apaixonados hoje que dificilmente podem ser separados por uma hora, depois de alguns anos eles podem se sentir repelidos apenas por se verem. Não há nada que não oscile, decaia ou mude. A vida é imprevisível, nossos processos mentais são instáveis. Nossos estados de ânimo são condições susceptíveis. Uma manhã, acordamos satisfeito e tudo parece ser perfeito. Todo movimento envolve mudança. Cada frase que dizemos, quando terminar, dá lugar ao próximo. Cada pensamento ou emoção desaparece e cede lugar a outro. Isso acontece com tudo, em todos parte. Nós simplesmente não estamos sintonizados com este processo, assumimos que algo durará até que percebemos de repente que envelheceu ... Ao mesmo tempo em que uma casa é construída já começa a deteriorar-se … Impermanence é exatamente o que é. Ela não é nem boa nem má. Aceite que cura os pensamentos mágicos de que podemos atrasar o inexorável processo de mudança e nos dar uma maior capacidade de aceitação e mais alegria.

Chagdud Tulku Rinpoche, Mestre tibetano Essa é uma citação interessante. Tudo muda, a vários passos. Alguns mudam ou se deterioram muito rápido, outros são muito lentos. As células que constituem seu corpo mudam muito rapidamente para serem substituídas por novas; a sua função continua a ser a mesma durante a vida e, portanto, não muda. Esta é uma forma visível de reencarnação. Há uma atividade material tumultuada constante, uma renovação constante da forma de vida, acontecendo ao redor da alma.

Cabelos novos, novas unhas, pele nova, água nova. Eu acredito que a alma também muda, mas a um ritmo muito mais lento. A alma aprende / muda ao longo de várias vidas; toda a vida preenchida com seus próprios desafios e lições para aprender. Alma permanente e corpo impermanente? Eu não diria “as coisas são impermanentes” ou “as coisas são permanentes”. Nós vemos pequeno. No reino divino, os opostos coexistem. As coisas podem ser próximas e distantes, ao mesmo tempo, dentro e fora. Permanente e impermanente. Para voltar à sua pergunta, tende a pensar que a cura espiritual está fortemente ligada às artes. Conheci xamãs e tentei seus remédios, e percebi que eles são artistas. Eles são músicos. Através das plantas sagradas, eles levam você a um lugar simbólico, um lugar de visões que estão em partes cheias

de elementos simbólicos de seu próprio inconsciente. Neste lugar eles vão cantar músicas que irão ajudá-lo a ajustar-se a si mesmo, coisas que eles aprenderam através de plantas sagradas e que ajudaram a curar cicatrizes emocionais semelhantes em si mesmas. Se você pensa sobre a realidade em termos de vibrações, sua saúde depende de estar em sintonia com você. Se a sua frequência sair da sua “cama” como um rio, fora de seu curso normal, você se torna aberto a doenças, você é mais fraco. O papel de um xamã é transformá-lo em sua própria vibração. A vibração do seu destino como eu gosto de pensar nisso.

Vendo e entendendo isso (provavelmente devo dizer “ter minha compreensão pessoal disso”, porque talvez eu não entenda merda nenhuma, mas percebi que, sabendo ou não, é por isso que os artistas estão aqui e é o que eles fazem.

Eles criam um lugar simbólico, através de uma pintura, um filme, um romance, uma dança; um lugar que eles comunicam aos outros através de vibrações: luz, som, emoções. Um artista é um tipo de xamã ou, para mim, essa é a sua missão final: curar a sociedade através das vibrações de sua própria criação. Ele deve ser uma espécie de guia, como também é um filósofo. Um artista é marginal, e da distância da margem da sociedade em que ele vive, ele tem uma visão particular do mundo dessa sociedade. A arte que ele criou será guiada por sua percepção do mundo. Eu costumo acreditar que o período de treinamento de um curador abrange várias vidas. Obviamente, essa é apenas a minha percepção, não estou dizendo que é a verdade, mas é assim que a vejo. Alguns artistas farão arte que seja crua, violenta. Eles estão “vomitando” a negatividade do mundo que eles percebem, porque ainda não aprenderam a digeri-lo. Seu papel na sociedade é mostrar o que está acontecendo errado no mundo - coisas do que pode ser difícil de ver quando você está profundamente presente na vida da sociedade. Sua arte tem que ser violenta e crua, para fazer as pessoas entenderem que existem problemas. Outros criarão arte que pode conter uma solução. Arte que é cura em si, que o coloca de volta em uma certa vibração que é bom para você. Para mim, um artista tem a alma de um xamã, seu propósito ou missão divina é curar. O desafio é aprender a curar-se primeiro, através da arte, para que mais tarde possa curar pessoas que enfrentam os mesmos problemas emocionais. Assim como os xamãs fazem.

Dalmo Roger: Bobby Puleo?

Aaaah, Bobby Puleo. Definitivamente, um dos meus skatistas favoritos de todos os tempos. Estilo suave, bom olho para coisas, boas manobras. Muito bom senso de humor também. Adoro vê-lo andando, ele é incrível. Ele é um artista de skate.

Possuído por sua própria arte. Ele me inspirou muito. Ser inspirado significa sonhar, criar com sua imaginação. Bobby chegou perto de ser um bom xamã, um curandeiro, curando pessoas através da vibração do seu skate, fazendo com que eles “sonhe” - potencialmente criando uma realidade melhor para si.

Infelizmente, eu acho que seu ego é muito forte e o está devorando. Ele não se curou, ele tende a ficar amargo com outras pessoas. Ele se segregou do resto do mundo do skate, porque esse mundo não o devolveu o suficiente. Mas quando você é guiado pelo amor, você não precisa de pessoas para te devolver. Somente Deus devolve, talvez. Você precisa simplesmente dar amor e não esperar nada em troca. A batalha com o nosso ego é uma com a qual todos somos desafiados. Espero que ele ganhe o dele. E espero ganhar o meu.

Dalmo Roger: Você já viu o video Colour Mixing: The Mystery of Magenta Haha, não, eu nunca tinha visto isso antes. Muito interessante. Nunca pensei nisso. Magenta como uma cor inconscientemente inventada pelo cérebro como falta de uma opção melhor, uma cor que existe além da realidade física. É bastante quarta dimensão em si Fernando Denti: Quando estamos andando de skate costumamos comer coisas bem lixo. O que você normalmente come no meio das sessões?

Na verdade, geralmente não consigo comer no meio das sessões. Eu costumava, principalmente em viagens, quando muitas pessoas ao seu redor começam a comer porcaria na metade da sessão, e isso desencadeia sua fome. Mas hoje em dia eu realmente não faço tanto. Eu costumo comer refeições normais.

Dalmo Roger: Antes de passar o bastão para Aymeric, gostaria de fazer uma última pergunta. A população indígena foi em grande parte assassinada por doenças européias, diminuindo de uma média pré-colombiana de milhões para

cerca de 300 mil (1997), agrupadas em 200 tribos. No entanto, o número poderia ser muito maior se as populações indígenas urbanas forem contadas hoje em todas as cidades brasileiras. Uma pesquisa lingüística datada anteriormente encontrou 188 línguas indígenas vivas com 155 mil falantes totais. Em 18 de janeiro de 2007, a FUNAI (Fundação Nacional do Índio) informou que confirmou a presença de 67 diferentes tribos não contactadas no Brasil, contra 40 em 2005. Com essa adição, o Brasil já superou a Nova Guiné como o país com o maior número de pessoas isoladas.

Os povos indígenas brasileiros fizeram contribuições substanciais e generalizadas para a medicina mundial com o conhecimento utilizado hoje pelas corporações farmacêuticas, material e desenvolvimento cultural - como a domesticação de tabaco, mandioca e outras culturas. Eles fizeram tanto por nós e oferecemos aculturação e catequese. O skate é tão urbano e, embora o respeito dentro dos centros urbanos e o entendimento sobre o uso do mobiliário urbano seja um pouco distorcido, você acha que podemos aprender algo com os nativos e como eles respeitam a natureza e seus ambientes? Você acha que podemos tentar construir essa harmonia?

Você acredita que devemos tentar construir essa harmonia ou manter a contracultura pesada e sólida? Esta é uma pergunta adolescente.

Skateboarding é definitivamente muito urbano, ele valoriza para o urbanismo, embora de certa forma também o destrua. Muitas pesquisas pessoais são sobre o que essas culturas levaram à humanidade e, de certa forma, tento divulgar na minha arte. Plantas sagradas, espiritualidade, cura divina e alternativa. Para mim, a contracultura é sobre procurar essas direções, para combater a cultura do capitalismo puro.

Aymeric Nocus: Você nasceu em Orléans (França central) e conseguiu viajar para várias cidades francesas quando mais jovem, como foi andar de skate lá naquela época? como foi crescer vivendo de um lugar para outro? e como tudo isso se conectou para você? Pra onde foram suas primeiras viagens para países estrangeiros com skate em mente?

Naquela época, especialmente eram cidades pequenas, não havia muitos skatis

tas, o skate era muito underground. Havia talvez 10 skatistas na cidade inteira, nenhuma skateshop, nenhuma revista, nenhuma marca local. Se você fosse um skatistas, você era verdadeiramente marginal. Eu gostava daquilo. Também era muito divertido que eu estava obcecado. Eu lentamente me movi para cidades maiores e maiores, até eu me estabelecer em Paris. Uma das minhas influências foi Kenny Reed, que conheci pela primeira vez em Paris, em sua primeira viagem fora dos EUA. Eu já tinha viajado muito para fora da França, embora não necessariamente para andar de skate. Então ele se tornou o viajante e foi a todos esses países que eu não tinha pensado por motivos de skate. Para andar de skate, meus olhos estavam principalmente nos EUA, e ele abriu meus olhos para mais.

Não tenho certeza de onde foram as primeiras viagens, mas viajei pelo leste da Europa, às vezes com Kenny também.

Sempre que eu poderia encontrar um patrocinador para pagar um vôo, eu tentei ir em algum lugar inesperado. Além do aspecto de viagem, obviamente eu tive um milhão de inspirações. Mark Gonzales, Brian Lotti, Rick Howard, Mike Carroll, Ricky Oyola, Bobby Puleo ... a lista pode realmente ter 10 páginas ...

Aymeric Nocus: O jovem Soy com 12 anos de idade conhece o Soy de hoje (sobre manobras de solo ma République). Descreva esse encontro e se você tentará ou não ensinar a ele a importância do nosegrind reverse.

Nosegrind reverse? Não. Isso, eu vou deixar ele descobrir por si mesmo, eu não gostaria de arruinar nada em sua diversão. Eu falo com ele diretamente sobre meninas! Hahaha. Na verdade, a única coisa que eu provavelmente digo para ele é cuidar dos tornozelos. Eu digo a ele que não há ninguém para impressionar e, portanto, não é necessário ter riscos estúpidos para o seu corpo. Eu diria isso a ele de forma inesperada, ele continuará a andar de skate aos 40, mas com uma dor no tornozelo bastante, então ele deve cuidar disso. Eu diria a ele para tomar yoga e nunca parar. Além disso, quando se trata de atividades prejudiciais para a saúde, você pode se arrepender de quando você era mais jovem (pode estar até andando de skate). Não tentando fazer você empurrar suas idéias sobre as pessoas, mas a retrospectiva sempre é boa - nos ajude antes que cometemos erros.

Como eu disse acima, não acredito fortemente em medicamentos químicos, acredito em efeitos de construção mental e placebo. A medicação química é um resultado do capitalismo, um intermediário vende um caro placebo porque você perdeu a fé de que é a mente que cura o corpo. Os psiquiatras têm razão ao dizer que o preço faz parte da cura, materializa seu desejo de curar a mente. Eu acredito que algumas plantas têm valores medicinais, e um pouco disso é incorporado em medicação química, mas a medicação química também contém muita merda que é prejudicial para o corpo, o que pode ser mostrado por efeitos colaterais. Quanto mais intermediários você permitir entrar em seu corpo e sua mente, mais perigoso será, porque as pessoas estão seguindo seu próprio percurso, e nem todos devem ser confiáveis ​​em todos os níveis. so. Um segundo, você vai pensar em se machucar, ficar assustado, hesitar e se machucar. Yoga ajuda também para isso. Sun Salutation por exemplo, é uma sucessão de movimentos a serem feitos em uma determinada ordem, para ser repetido um certo número de vezes. Se sua mente não estiver focada, você perde a sucessão dos movimentos. Para alcançar 10 Saudações do Sol, sua mente precisa se concentrar apenas em fazer isso. É um bom treino para a mente. E se a sua mente (em parte) cria a realidade à sua volta, se ela estiver mais focada no presente, seu sonho será melhor. Lamentar o passado e se preocupar com o futuro são erros comuns, porque apenas o presente existe. O passado que você pode aprender, no presente; e o futuro pode ser planejado, também no presente.

Fernando Denti: Falando sobre o skate na sua forma primária ... Através de suas experiências e seu conhecimento ao longo dos anos ... Como você vê / sente skate neste momento?

O skate tornou-se enorme, é um dos “esportes” mais populares agora. Está em todos canais de TV, em todos os comerciais ... Sempre que algo cresce tanto, dilui sua essência, perde algo. Gostaria de ver voltar a algo mais underground.

Algumas pessoas dizem que é bom para a indústria se houver mais pessoas envolvidas, mas não tenho tanta certeza.

Apenas atrai as grandes corporações, que não são apaixonadas e que lucram com isso.

Aymeric Nocus: Como você se vê 10 anos a partir de agora?

But first of all, she is a skater, who dreams of skateboarding in the street with her friends. The conversation with Dalmo Roger and some other dreamers makes a person thinking about life, the mind, without skateboarding.

It’s funny because to me, it seems that the houses actually get smaller with each generations… I see old Parisian apartments being cut to make several apartments out of it, with prices going up and becoming unaffordable for anyone to buy anything. Also, in the past you were a baby, everything around you looked gigantic. The nostalgia plays a role too, the house of the childhood is usually filled with good, carefree memories.

This said, yes, I agree we should keep a few dreams. Dreams are everything to me, or rather, everything is a dream.

I believe we are energy who perceives itself as material, with life itself being a dream in which you materialize your dreams/thoughts into your own reality. The reality around you is different from the reality around someone else. Maybe around you there is always tumultuous activity and energy, and around someone else there is always peace and quietness. I see this as different personal dreams. When you meet someone new you enter their dream and they enter yours.

Every house that was ever built was someone’s dream first. So the important thing for me is to learn to dream. To dream your life and materialize it.

What’s the working environment and culture of the company like?

Yeah… We gonna talk about Magenta, business and a lot of money in the very first moment of that interview. Laugh…

Hahaha.. Well, for me the working environment is my bedroom, in Paris. That’s where my desk is, so that’s where I work

from. I guess it also describes the culture of the company, because we don’t have an office anymore. Vivien (Feil) and Gaetan (Salvignol) are in Bordeaux –about 3 hours by train from Paris, in the south of France. They work sometimes from Vivien’s house, sometimes from Gaetan’s living room. Jean (Feil), Vivien’s brother, handles the stock and shipping, from our stock wharehouse in Strasbourg, in the east of France –also about 3 hours by train from Paris.

It’s not a very common “business organization”. We all have another job on the side, so we can do Magenta from passion… So the culture of the company is relatively laid back, but everyone is working pretty hard.

Dalmo Roger- Through the eyes of a panda. You told me it was an older process you were working on…

Now you’re working and dealing with divine nature of the unconscious. Vibrational nature and structure of reality. It caught my attention for some reason.

Can you tell us a little bit of that “new” experience? Experiment…?

Complex subject, but I’ll try to explain.

Through The Eyes Of A Panda was a place to put my first drawings when I started drawing again…I had no real direction, I was mainly practicing drawing, drawing things around me, things that would catch my attention.

The nature of reality has always interested me. I like to try and understand things, even if it’s maybe impossible to do. I’ve always had a lot of questions, like a child. Why are we here? What is life? What happens after death –and before birth? Does God exist, and if so, what is it? Do I believe in God? Why are we trapped in 3 dimensions? If there are only 3 dimensions, then where in space are thoughts, dreams, emotions, intuitions? Are they “inside” our minds? But where and what is the mind? Everything that is invisible and immaterial –the unconscious toowhere is it? And what is it? And why is it?

These are timeless questions, of course; they have inhabited Mankind since times immemorial. There have been many theories. Some believe in creationism, others in evolution, some believe in reincarnation and timelessness of the soul, others believe we are just matter. The modern (maybe I should say Protestant) point of

view is that we are primarily matter, and that consciousness is a by-product of the brain –almost an accident. This same viewpoint says that we come from a very distant Big Bang explosion, and that the chain of event that followed happened “by chance”. By chance, particles assembled just perfectly to form DNA and intelligent beings, and a perfect nature.

Science nowadays is very powerful, you can’t really go against it without being shot down, but at some point I had to accept that I could no longer agree with this view. The idea of an Intelligent Design seemed to me more logical, because everything that I see looks intelligently designed. I see with eyes that are obviously very well designed. I can transform food into body cells without having to even think about it. If i get sick, my body naturally heals itself. We are intelligent beings, but we are not capable of designing things so intelligently as Nature has, and we are told it did so “unconsciously”, by a random succession of events. For me, Nature can not have happened by chance. Already it answered the question “Do I believe in God?”. I had to figure out that I did, but without knowing what God is. This I still have no clear idea.

Because my mom has a genetic disease and I grew up watching her struggle, I was also very interested in health and medicine. Why are some people healthy and others are born with a disease? It seems unjust. Why would a lovely person like my mom be punished with a degenerating paralyzing disease? I got interested in the phenomenon of luck. How come some people are lucky and some people are unlucky. Do we create our luck? Are we born lucky or unlucky? Can we “control” our luck? If life is a dream, then how can it escalate into a nightmare? I believe life –your dream- can turn to a nightmare if you fall out of your normal frequency.

In the field of medicine, I got interested in the placebo effect, because it was such a strange phenomenon; all of a sudden, a “theatrical act” could “trick” your mind and your mind would heal your body. That led me to the role of the unconscious on physical reality.

At the same time, I saw that my drawings were evolving –it wasn’t a conscious decision. I liked drawing animals, and started drawing more of them –I didn’t know why. I guess I was just better at them than at drawing people, or things.

After a while, the animals led me to the

concept of totem/spirit animals. I started thinking “Maybe I am drawing totem animals.” “What is a totem animal? And why am I drawing them?” This part I am just maybe starting to understand.

Geometric forms were also fascinating me, there was something about spatial geometry that I always liked but I also didn’t know why. Spatial geometry led me to the idea of spatial dimensions, and from the 3 we know, my curiosity traveled to a 4th one. It led me to the hypercube, which is a hypothetic 4 dimensional cube, which I started drawing a few years ago, already after a year or two of drawing geometric shapes next to those “totem animals”. The possible existence of an invisible 4th dimension was fascinating, because the world we see around us is in 3 dimensions, so a fourth dimension was only seen in tv shows like Twilight Zone, which obviously nourished my imagination. Is a hypercube an entirely theoretical idea or does that relate to anything in reality? Could there be a 4th dimension? If so, can we access it? What is it like?

The 3 dimensions we know are front-back, left-right, up-down.

Each upper dimension contains the previous one ( 1 dimension is front-back; 2 dimensions are front-back + left-right; 3 dimensions is front-back + left-right + up-down), so a theoretical 4th dimension would have to contain the first 3, which to me would mean that in a 4th dimension, something could be left and right, up and down, front and back, at the same time.

Inside and outside, just like a thought that you are sharing with a friend is at the same time inside of you, in between you and your friend, then in your friend’s mind forever, though it hasn’t left you.

Then it started making sense to me that this invisible 4th dimension was a dimension of the immaterial. It is the spiritual realm, that of dreams, thoughts, fears, emotions. A new thought that is created inside of you, can travel to someone else’s mind. It is both inside and outside of you at the same time. I realized this was an upper dimension (by “upper” I mean “more divine” here), because everything that exists was a thought first. It was immaterial before materializing. We had to dream about flying before creating the airplane. You were the dream of your pa-

rents before you were born. All this naturally led me to the idea that the 4th dimension was of divine nature –a place of creation of reality. And so, that the unconscious, which dwells in that place, was also a creator of reality.

In the modern/Protestant view of the world, consciousness –and with it the unconscious- comes after matter. I personally think that it comes before matter, and that it creates matter. I think that what we consider matter, are vibrations that our senses decrypt as matter. Colors and shapes are light vibrations decrypted by the eye, for example, just like sounds are air vibrations decrypted by the ear.

To go back to drawing -since there is a link, sorry I’m talking a lot, hahaha- I realized that when you draw, you draw a picture that first appears in your unconscious. A drawing is “dictated” to you from within. Your divine unconscious is telling you something in its own language –which is symbolic- and it comes out as a drawing. I understood that by drawing the images that would appear in my mind, and by analyzing the recurring symbols, I could slowly learn a new language, the symbolic language of my own unconscious, and try to learn what it is telling me, what it wants to create. For me it’s a life guide. You are creating your own reality, mostly unconsciously. I think that if you want to create a positive reality for yourself, it is better to try and understand the process of unconscious creation. So this is part of what I am trying to do with my drawings. They are guiding me in my life. They are teaching me about who I am and about my Destiny, and so I am always trying to decipher what they mean. And so, if my unconscious is telling me to draw totem animals for some reason, then I want to research the matter, understand why, and go deeper in that direction…which is what I am trying to do at the moment.

Fernando Denti – Sometimes we can also see this kind of information in the products and the videos that you guys make… Do you see the brand as a way to spread a message?

For sure a brand’s a way to spread several messages. The message of the skateboarding we like on one hand, which will show in our videos, and messages by board graphics on the other hand. If I was not doing Magenta board graphics, nobody would know of my art. In a way, as a

collective we attract people via our style of skating, and then they get to see the art, and I can try to spread my own personal message in there. So I’m very grateful for everyone involved in Magenta, because without them, it would be much more difficult for me to spread the message I want to spread.

Dalmo Roger- What was your biggest setback since you guys started Magenta? I know this question is a kind of tricky, but think of it as a straightforward advice to anyone who wants to start a skateboard company. Give us three light tips that should not happen in the initial design of a brand.

Hum. Good question. I guess we’ve done a million of small mistakes…

1) Make sure your logo works at every scale, big or small, and in a single tone, black on white. I made that mistake and then had to work towards a solution.

2) Do a company because you love to do the work that it involves doing, because you’re gonna have to do a lot of it, and most likely you will not make much money out of it.

3) Shit, I can’t even think of a 3rd one… haha. A company is mainly about dealing with the problems that arise and that you hadn’t thought of before…There are always new ones.

Dalmo Roger- Let’s talk about video.

Actually, I’d like to talk about PARISien.

This question was asked during the moment I was listening to the song you chose. Ocean! I was curious about the number of days it took to film the whole thing. Laugh… Do you have any idea how many people wanted to go to Paris get pushing free after this video?

It’s crazy, yes, this video seems to have talked to many people. It’s crazy that you have seen it too, all the way in Brazil. The song Ocean was chosen by my friend Sylvain Robineau, who made that clip. This song was for the long version.

I chose the song for the regular version, Farewell Transmission by Songs: Ohia.

I think we filmed for 4 or 5 days. Sylvain and I had just met, we hardly knew each other, he was a skater from my hometown, from where I had moved away a long time ago, before I met him. We skated together once, then he called me

to talk about this project of filming Paris through the eyes of a skateboarder.

We immediately clicked and I said yes. He came to Paris to film with me for about a week, and he made this video. Today he is like my brother. We’ve done like 10 short movies together. PARISien is very special for me, it is how I met one of my brothers. If it is special to other people as well, then this is really fantastic.

Fernando Denti - In the videos we can see that you guys have made a lot of connections around the world and have made a lot of friends. Tell us one place that you thought interesting to get to know and that you would recommend to people even if there is no skating involved.

I’d probably recommend Japan to everyone. No place is ever perfect, and Japan also has its own issues, but it’s a very interesting culture, it’s a must see. The way they link past values of mastery and perfection, soul and nature, into futuristic design, is amazing. In the modern world, past values and morals are gone. Japan is an example on many levels, a source of inspiration.

Dalmo Roger- Back to the Aesthetic visual arts. I remember reading somewhere one of your favorite artist is Gustav Klimt.

I am a big fan too. Paul Klee also has a huge influence on my image research. Are you an enthusiast studying the aesthetic movements or you do not consider it very important? …and we can talk about it without aestheticism. Laugh…

I love Paul Klee too. What do you mean by aesthetics movement? I just researched right now what is the Aesthetic Movement, and it says a movement about “art for the sake of art, without a social or moral role”. If that is what you meant in your question, then you will obviously figure out that I never studied it, otherwise I wouldn’t have had to research it now.

Haha. But it seems strange because Klimt and Klee do not fit with this definition…

Anyway I don’t really study art movements of any kind, for me these are more like marketing labels.

For me, art speaks to the soul, it touches deeper than the conscious level. You don’t necessarily understand why you like something, you just like it. A sound, a melody, a color, a painting… I guess it resonates with your own vibration. Paul Klee made me appreciate stuff that was more abstract, like hand-drawn squares

of colors. I guess I was in tune with the frequency of these light waves, I thought these were beautiful and well assembled colors…

Fernando Denti - We know that you guys have a good friendship with the dudes from Japan and this is expressed in the videos that you made together. Talking about these exchanges… What do you feel like inspired you the most and that is a part of you or Magenta till this day?

Japanese niceness and respect is inspirational, and I think it inhabits Magenta always. Also a common love for older traditions and culture, a culture of respect for the elders, a respect for quality, for master crafting. We try our best to incorporate these notions into Magenta.

After all this, when I still have a bit of time – usually in the bathroom, taking a crap- I’ll read. I read about spirituality, about sacred healing plants, about fasting, about the alternative History of mankind (“New Chronology” by Anatoly Fomenko, for anyone interested).

I do about 20 minutes of yoga every morning, for my body and mind.

That all makes for pretty full days already.

Then going out with my friends for a drink.

Chatting up girls. Days are quick gone.

Dalmo Roger- Pretty serious moment.

Would you say that the spiritual healing process may be somehow connected to your image research? THE IMPERMANENCE.

Dalmo Roger- What is your favorite thing to do when you’re not skateboarding or painting? Do you have any hobbies? What do you do in your spare time? The most dangerous question ever!

Everything in our lives, possessions, riches, relationships, is temporary and in constant mutation. Our body, speech, mind and environment change minute by minute, second by second.

Well, “spare” time is definitely not abundant in my life. My time is shared by many activities. Most of the time is spent working on Magenta stuff. That includes drawing graphics and doing photoshop work for board layout, but also designing clothing and visuals, making all production files, follow up with production, making catalogs, ads, web ads, stuff like that. It also includes designing collabs we make with other brands.

In the time when a needle takes to pierce sixty flower petals profiled. Nothing in the universe remains the same. Our worst enemy may someday be our best friend.

Couples so passionate today that they can hardly be separated by an hour, after a few years they may feel repulsed just by seeing each other. There is nothing that does not oscillate, decays or change.

Then I’ll go skate with my friends, maybe try to film something if the occasion arises, or sometimes go on a skate trip.

Aside from that I work on my personal drawings and exhibitions. Since for the moment I don’t want to sell them, I usually try to make t-shirts or prints to sell at the art shows. So, that is additional work. Also, sometimes people are interested in buying my drawings, so since the ones I’ve already made are not for sale at the moment, I’ll make one especially for them. Sometimes I’ll also be asked to draw something for a project, like the EP cover I did for my friend Matias Elichabehere, for example.

Then, as I’ve mentioned before, my friend Sylvain and I have also made some short movies; in which I act. I used to write/co-write them, but with Magenta now I don’t have time anymore. But I like acting, it’s really fun. It’s another form of expression.

Life is unpredictable, our mental processes unstable. Our moods are susceptible conditions. One morning we wake up contented and everything seems to be perfect. Every movement involves change. Each sentence we say, when finished, gives way to the next one.

Each thought or emotion disappears and gives way to another. This happens with everything, in all part. We are simply not tuned in to this process, we assume that something will last until we suddenly notice that it has aged… At the same time as a house is built already begins to deteriorate…Impermanence is just what it is. She is neither good and nor bad. Accept it heals the magical thoughts that we can delay the inexorable process of change and give us a greater capacity of acceptance and more joy. Chagdud Tulku Rinpoche, Tibetan Master That’s an interesting quote. Everything does change, at various paces. Some

change or decay very fast, others very slow. The cells that constitute your body change very fast to be replaced by new ones; their function remains the same throughout life, and so doesn’t change. This is a visible form of reincarnation.

There is a constant tumultuous material activity, a constant renewal of life form, happening around the soul. New hair, new nails, new skin, new water. I believe the soul also changes, but at a much slower pace. The soul learns/changes throughout several lifetimes; every lifetime filled with its own challenges and lessons to learn.

Permanent soul and impermanent body?

I wouldn’t say “things are impermanent” or “things are permanent”. We see small.

In the Divine realm, opposites coexist.

Things can be close and far at the same time, inside and outside. Permanent and impermanent.

To go back to your question, i tend to think that spiritual healing is strongly connected to the arts. I have met shamans and tried their medicine, and have realized they are artists. They are musicians.

Through the sacred plants they bring you to a symbolic place, a place of visions that are in parts filled with symbolic elements from your own unconscious. In this place they will sing songs that will help you tune back to yourself – songs that they have learned through sacred plants and that have helped them heal similar emotional scars in themselves. If you think of reality in terms of vibrations, your health depends on being in tune with yourself. If your frequency goes out of its “bed” –like a river, out of its normal course- you become open to illnesses, you are weaker. The role of a shaman is to put you back into your own vibe. The vibe of your Destiny as I like to think of it.

Seeing and understanding this (I should probably say “having my personal understanding of it”, because maybe I don’t understand shit) I realized that, knowing it or not, that is what artists are here for, and that’s what they do. They create a symbolic place, via a painting, a film, a novel, a dance; a place that they communicate to others via vibrations: light, sound, emotions. An artist is a shaman of sorts, or, for me, that is his ultimate mission: to heal society via the vibrations of his own creation. He is supposed to be a sort of guide, as he is also a philosopher. An artist is a marginal, and from the distance of the margin of

society he is living on, he has a particular view of the world, of that society. The art he creates will be guided by his perception of the world. I tend to believe that the training period of a healer spans several lifetimes. Obviously that is only my perception, I’m not saying it is the truth, but that’s how I see it. Some artists will make art that is raw, violent. They are “vomiting” the negativity of the world that they perceive, because they haven’t learned to digest it yet. Their role in society is to show what is going on wrong in the world –things than can be hard to see when you are head deep in society life. Their art has to be violent and raw, to make people understand that there are problems. Others will create art that may contain a solution. Art that is healing in itself, that puts you back in a certain vibe that is good for you. For me an artist has the soul of a shaman, his purpose or divine mission is to heal. The challenge is to learn to heal oneself first, through one’s art, so that one can later heal people facing the same emotional issues. Just like shamans do.

Dalmo Roger- Bobby Puleo?!

Aaaah, Bobby Puleo. Definitely one of my favorite skaters of all time. Smooth style, good eye for stuff, good spots. Very good sense of humor too. I love watching him skate, he is amazing. He is an artist of skateboarding. Possessed by his own art. He has inspired me a lot. To be inspired means to dream, to create with your imagination. Bobby came close to being a good shaman, a healer, healing people via the vibe of his skating, making them “dream” –potentially creating a better reality for themselves.

Unfortunately, I think his ego is too strong, and is devouring him. He has not healed himself, he tends to be bitter about other people. He has segregated himself from the rest of the skateboard world, because that world wasn’t giving him back enough. But when you are guided by love, you don’t need people to give you back. Only God gives back, maybe. You need to just give out love and wait for nothing in return. The battle with our ego is one we are all challenged with. I hope he wins his. And I hope I win mine.

Dalmo Roger- Have you seen this before?

Haha, no, I had never seen it before. Very interesting indeed. I never thought of this.

Magenta as a color unconsciously invented by the brain as lack for a better option, a color that exists beyond physical reality. It’s quite 4th dimensiony in itself…

Fernando Denti - When we are out skating we usually eat some junk food. What do you normaly eat in the middle of the sessions?

Actually, I usually don’t really eat in the middle of the sessions. I used to, mainly on trips, when a lot of people around you start eating crap in mid session, and it triggers your hunger. But nowadays I don’t really do that much. I tend to eat normal meals.

Dalmo Roger- Before passing the stick to Aymeric I would like to ask one last question.

The indigenous population was largely killed by European diseases, declining from a Pre Columbian high of millions to some 300,000 (1997), grouped into 200 tribes. However, the number could be much higher if the urban indigenous populations are counted in all the Brazilian cities today. A somewhat dated linguistic survey found 188 living indigenous languages with 155,000 total speakers.

On January 18, 2007, FUNAI (National Indian Foundation) reported that it had confirmed the presence of 67 different uncontacted tribes in Brazil, up from 40 in 2005. With this addition Brazil has now surpassed New Guinea as the country having the largest number of uncontacted people.

Brazilian indigenous people have made substantial and pervasive contributions to the world’s medicine with knowledge used today by pharmaceutical corporations, material, and cultural development—such as the domestication of tobacco, cassava, and other crops.

They did so much for us and we offer back acculturation and catechesis.

The skateboard is so urban and although the respect within the urban centers and the understanding about the use of the street furniture is a little bit distorted, do you think we could learn something with the natives and how they respect the nature and their ambiences? Do you think we can try to build this harmony?

Do you believe we should try to build this harmony or let’s keep the counterculture heavy and solid? This is a teenage question… Laugh!

Skateboarding is definitely very urban, it strives on urbanism, though in a way it also destroys it. A lot of my personal research is on what these cultures brought to humanity, and in a way I try to “advertise” that in my art. Sacred plants, spirituality, the Divine, alternative healing. For me the counterculture is about searching in these directions, to counter the culture of harsch capitalism.

Aymeric Nocus- You were born in Orléans (central France) & got to get around to various french cities in your earlier years, how was it like taking up skateboarding there back then, how did it grow with you living from place to place and how did it all come together for you ? Where were your first trips to foreign countries with skating in mind ?

Back then and especially in a small city, there weren’t many skaters, skateboarding was very underground to say the least. There were maybe 10 skaters in the entire city, no skateshop, no magazine, no local industry. If you were a skater, you were truly a marginal. I liked that. Also it is so much fun that I was obsessed, it stuck with me whenever I went. I slowly moved to bigger and bigger cities, until I established myself in Paris.

Aside from the traveling aspect, I’ve obviously had a million inspirations. Mark Gonzales, Brian Lotti, Rick Howard, Mike Carroll, Ricky Oyola, Bobby Puleo… the list could really be 10 pages long.

Like I said above, I don’t strongly believe in chemical medication, I believe in mental construct and placebo effect. Chemical medication is a result of capitalism, an intermediary sells you an expensive placebo because you have lost the faith that it is the mind that cures the body.

Psychiatrists are right to say that the price is part of the cure, it materializes your desire to be cured for the mind. I believe some plants do have medicinal values, and a tiny bit of that is incorporated in chemical medication, but chemical medication also contain a lot of shit that is harmful for the body, which can show via side effects. The more intermediaries you allow between your body and your mind, the more dangerous it is, because people are following their own route, and not all are to be trusted at every level. Humans are easily corruptible. There is no intermediary between you and God, because God is inside of you.

In this logic, whatever action you carry has an effect on the body and mind.

One of my influences was Kenny Reed, who I met for the first time in Paris, on his first ever trip outside the US. I had already traveled outside of France quite a lot, though not necessarily for skating.

Then he became the traveler and went to all these countries I hadn’t thought of for skateboarding reasons. For skating, my eyes were mostly on the US, and he opened my eyes to more. I’m not sure where the first trips were, but I traveled all over eastern Europe, sometimes with Kenny too. Whenever I could find a sponsor to pay for a flight, I tried to go somewhere unexpected.

Whenever you can, don’t buy ready made meals cooked by someone else, send a signal to your own cells that you are cooking for them personally. At every level everywhere, everyone wants to feel loved. Your body is the same, it is your life companion and wants to feel your love.

Through skating I have damaged my body, but it is not skating that hurt my body, it was lack of self confidence and miscalculations. It was mental errors. I have fucked my ankles because of that, but I definitely don’t regret skating, my ankles love skating. They love doing kickflips. It’s my mental I have to train so that my feet always land on bolts.

It is the mind that we need to train. Whenever your mind os not focused on the present action, if you let it go in all kinds of directions, this is when it gets dangerous. One second you’re going to think about hurting yourself, get scared, hesitate, and hurt yourself.

Yoga helps for that too. Sun Salutation for examples, is a succession on movements to be done in a certain order, to be repeated a certain number of time. If your mind is not focused, you lose track of the succession of movements. To achieve 10 Sun Salutations, your mind needs to stay focus on just doing that. It’s a good training for the mind.

And if your mind (partly) creates the reality around you, if it more focused on the present, then your dream will be better. Regretting the past and worrying about the future are common mistakes, because only the present exists. The past you can learn from, in the present; and the future can be planned, also in the present.

Fernando Denti -Talking about skateboarding in its primary form… Through your experiences and your knowledge along the years… How do you see/feel skating in this moment?

Undeniably skating has become huge, it’s one of the most popular “sport” now. It’s on every tv channel, every commercial…

Whenever something grows so much, it dilutes its essence, it loses some of it. I’d like to see it go back to something more underground. Some people say it’s good for the industry if there are more people involved, but I’m not so sure. It just attracts the big corporations, which are not passionate and who profit from it.

Em 2004 a internet se consolidava com uma banda larga mais segura e abria novos caminhos. Só para você ter uma ideia, o Youtube, esse bichinho virtual que substituiu a TV só foi criado em 2005.

Mais precisamente no dia 14 de fevereiro de 2005. Mas para quem gosta de vídeos de skate a falta de ambiente de transmissão de dados nunca foi o maior problema, não é mesmo? Bom, mas pra que toda essa introdução? Porque estamos contando aqui um pouco da história recente dos produtores de vídeo do Brasil. Como dizíamos, em 2004 a rede mundial de computadores ajudou a criar uma amizade entre Marco Savino, em Minas Gerais, Leo Coutinho, em Campo Grande, e Diogo Gema, em Guarulhos. Cada um tinha sua produção e segundo o Savino “as missões eram diárias e com tanto registro faltava apenas um meio de dar saída e divulgar esse conteúdo”. Entre as trocas de emails surgiu o projeto Intercâmbio, de 2004. Logo na sequência veio o IDEAIS, em 2005. Ai sim, consolidando tanto o trabalho como videomakers, quanto a amizade entre a galera envolvida.

Cerca de 10 anos depois veio o estalo: vamos produzir o IDEAIS 2 para relembrar essa união e paixão pelo skate.

“Hoje em dia em meio tantos projetos e trabalhos que cada um está envolvido, é impressionante ver como o amor pelo skate continua forte e encontramos tempo, vontade e muita dedicação para produzir novamente esse projeto independente” nos comentou o Marco Savino, indo totalmente de encontro ao sentimento do Gema e do Coutinho, que mesmo em meio a diversos trabalhos ainda fazem questão de encontrar uma brecha

para colocar o skate a frente de tudo.

“Eu fico muito feliz de ter feito parte desse novo vídeo, que na verdade não é novo. Foi muito a style a união, entre o Marco, o Leo e os meninos que vieram agora, o Zeze e o Julian” comentou Diogo Gema que além da parte de amigos do Brasil também filmou com o Akira pro projeto: “eu escolhi fazer foi do Akira porque eu tinha umas imagens dele que já estava guardando e encaixou certinho nesse projeto. Quando o Savino teve a ideia de fazer o vídeo eu já tive logo a vontade de fazer a parte dele. É sempre dahora andar com o Akira porque o cara é pesado, anda muito, além de ser sempre divertido encontrar com ele. Quando eu vou pra Cubatão (onde o Akira mora) as vezes o skate nem é totalmente a prioridade” complementa.

Para Leo Coutinho “as palavras que definem são satisfação e alegria”. E segue comentando que “ver que um sonho que tivemos lá atrás, que era viver do skate e seguir andando de skate e nessa mesma cultura, isso continua e permanece até hoje. Outra alegria é ver que tem uma nova geração vindo, tanto de filmers, quanto de skatistas”. Sobre a escolha de filmar com o Giovani foi “porque eu quis buscar a mesma ideia que eu tinha no início quando eu vim de Campo Grande, que era de alguma forma expor o que a gente tava fazendo e se comunicar com outras pessoas, o que naquele tempo era muito mais difícil. Seguindo essa lógica o Giovani é um cara que tem um puta talento, mas ao mesmo tempo é um cara underground, que não tem patrocínio, anda de skate por ele, por amor. então decidi fazer com ele por isso. Fico até arrepiado de dar essas ideias”.

“O melhor de tudo é ver a nossa evolução e desenvolvimento que adquirimos nesses anos e quantas pessoas conhecemos nesse caminho. Os skatistas que eram nossas influências hoje são nossos amigos, e assim surgiu naturalmente a seleção para o vídeo” complementa Savino.

No IDEAIS 2 além do Savino, Coutinho e Gema foram agregados ao time de videomakers Zezé Luiz e Julian Eduardo, caras que já vem fazendo parte de outras produções e provando que a evolução e a renovação acontecem ao natural.

Entre os convocados para a sequência do IDEAIS um time de peso misturando gerações e estilos, com espaço para caras renomados e aquela rapaziada que ain-

da está no underground. Akira Shiroma, Alex Carolino, Franco Poloni, Giovani Ricardo, Paulo Galera, além daquelas clássicas partes de amigos, uma com o pessoal do Brasil e outra com a galera da Europa, trazem as manobras.

A prova de que agora quem virou influência foram os makers originais do projeto é o depoimento dos novos integrantes “O Ideais foi um dos primeiros vídeos nacionais onde eu acompanhei algumas gravações, a primeira vez que vivenciei uma sessão para um vídeo de skate. Essa vibe de todos juntos ali, fazendo piada, dando risada foi decisivo pra eu fazer um corre de comprar uma câmera” nos contou Zezé Luiz. Finalizando com “todas as pessoas envolvidas no Ideais 2 foram e são minha influência, me ensinaram muitas coisas, é uma satisfação enorme poder somar em um projeto desse tamanho, com pessoas que me inspiro”.

E para Julian Eduardo o sentimento não é muito diferente porque “é muito louco hoje estar fazendo parte do Ideais 2.

Poder dividir essa produção com esse time pesado, tanto de skatistas como filmmakers, é realmente muito gratificante. Ver todo mundo na mesma sintonia, cada um em um canto diferente suando a camisa por um mesmo ideal, juntar as partes e virar um vídeo - essa proposta é muito louca, que foge do padrão de produção de vídeos de skate, mas mesmo assim é exatamente como o skate funciona, um círculo de energia que se une através do mesmo sentimento, o amor pelo skate; de maneira natural”.

In 2004 the internet was consolidated with a safer broadband and opened new ways. Just an idea, Youtube the virtual platform that replaced the TV was only created in 2005. More precisely on February 14, 2005. But for those who like skate videos the lack of data transmis-

sion environment never was the biggest problem, right? Good, but why all this introduction? Because we are telling here a little of the recent history of video producers in Brazil. As we said, in 2004 the worldwide computer network helped create a friendship between Marco Savino in Minas Gerais, Leo Coutinho in Campo Grande and Diogo Gema in Guarulhos.

Each one had its production and, according to Savino, “the missions were daily and with so much footages and there was only one way of share this content.”

Among the exchanges of emails came the Intercâmbio project in 2004. Soon afterwards came IDEAIS, in 2005. Yes, consolidating both the videomakers work, as well as the friendship between the people involved.

About 10 years later came the snap: let’s produce IDEAIS 2 to reminisce about this union and passion for skateboarding.

“Nowadays between so many projects and jobs each one is involved, it is amazing to see how the love of skateboarding continues strong and we find time, the will and the dedication to produce this independent project again”, commented Marco Savino, going totally from to the feeling of Gema and Coutinho, who even in the midst of several jobs still make a point of finding a loophole to put the skateboard ahead of everything.

“I am very happy to have been part of this new video, which is not really new. It was amazing the union between Marco, Leo and the boys who came now, Zeze and Julian” commented Diogo Gema besides the part of friends from Brazil also filmed with Akira for the project: “I chose to do it from Akira because I had some images of him that I was already saving and fit right into this project. When Savino got the idea to make the video I already I’ve had the urge to do the part of him, it’s always good to hang out with Akira because the guy is heavy, he skates a lot, besides being always fun to meet him.When I go to Cubatão (where Akira lives) sometimes skate nor is it totally the priority.” he adds.

For Leo Coutinho, “the words that define are satisfaction and joy”. And he continues by commenting that “to see that a dream that we had back there, that was to live of the skate and to continue to skate and in that same culture, this continues and remains until today. Another joy is to see that it has a new generation coming, so much of filmers , as well

as skaters. About choosing to shoot with Giovani was because I wanted to get the same idea that I had at the beginning when I came from Campo Grande, which was to somehow expose what we were doing and communicate with other people, Giovani is a guy who has a fucking amazing talent, but at the same time he’s an underground guy, who has no sponsorship, skates for himself, out of love, so I decided to do it with him. I got excited to talk to you about it all.”

“The best thing of all is to see our evolution and development that we have acquired in those years and how many people we know in this way. The skaters who were our influences today are our friends, and so came the selection for the video.” adds Savino.

At “IDEAIS 2”, besides Savino, Coutinho and Gema were added to the team of videographers Zeze Luiz and Julian Eduardo, guys who are already part of other productions and proving that evolution and renovation happen naturally.

Among those invited to the sequence of the IDEAIS a team of weight mixing generations and styles, with space for renowned faces and that guy who is still in the underground. Akira Shiroma, Alex Carolino, Franco Poloni, Giovani Ricardo, Paulo Galera, besides those classic friends part, one with the Brazilians and another with the Europeans.

The proof that now who turned influence were the original makers of the project is the testimony of new members: “Ideais was one of the first national videos where I accompanied some footage, the first time I experienced a session for a skateboarding video. This vibe of everyone there, jokes and laughing was decisive for me to make it happen to buy a camera” Zezé Luiz told us. Finishing with “all the people involved in Ideals 2 have been and are my influence, taught me many things, it is a great satisfaction to be able to add in a project of this size, with people who inspire me.” and for Julian Eduardo, the feeling is not very different because “it’s crazy for me today to be part of Ideais 2. Being able to share this production with this heavy team, both skaters and filmmakers, is really very rewarding to see everyone in the same page, each one in a different corner sweating the tshirt for the same ideal, joining the parts and turning a

video - this proposal is crazy, it runsway the standard production of skateboarding videos, but even so it is exactly how the skate works, circle of energy that unites through the same feeling, the love of skateboard, in a natural way. “ At this point the video should already be available on our good friend Youtube channel and, if you have not seen it yet, you have understood what you are missing. Neguinho tá cansado de ouvir a gente falar sobre skateboard e arte aqui na Vista.

Caso não tenha percebido, a gente traz esse assunto pra vitrine desde sempre (afinal são os nossos sobrenomes). Portanto, não perderíamos a chance de pôr um pouco mais disso aqui na revista. E a história da vez é o adidas The Showcase, projeto da marca em parceria com a Juxtapoz (não conhece? por favor, busca aí no Google e faça bem pro seu dia) onde são convidados artistas que andem, ou tenham grande relação com skate, para apresentarem seus trabalhos.

O projeto já passou por diversas cidades no mundo e na passagem pelo Brasil o curador convidado Lucas Pexão não decepcionou. Aliás, as boas escolhas começaram justamente pelo espaço, afinal a galeria Fita Tape, localizada em frente a Roosevelt, faz parte do cotidiano das centenas, milhares, de pessoas que frequentam o pico. Espalhados pelo ambiente André Calvão, Erica Maradona, Fernando Denti, Isabel de Castro, Lucas Cabu, Luis Moschioni, Renato Custódio, Alexandre Velloso, Wallace Costa e Willian Santana trouxeram fotografia, desenho, poesia, pintura, escultura, vídeo e música. Em meio a eles a equipe da adidas também demonstrou seus talentos.

Rodrigo Tx, Klaus Bohms, Daniel Marques, Akira Shiroma e Marcelo Garcia também tinham suas obras expostas.

Para quem não pode estar pessoalmente, trazemos aqui uma pequena seleção do que foi apresentado na galeria. E um grande viva ao skateboard arte que resiste, questiona, embeleza, evolui e provoca a cada momento. _____________________________

And the opportunity of the time is the adidas The Showcase, the brand project in partnership with Juxtapoz (don’t you know? Please search at Google and do the well for your day) 3the artists invited are skaters, or have great relationship with skateboarding, to present their work.

The project has already gone through many cities in the world and in the passage through Brazil the invited curator Lucas Pexão did not disappoint. In fact, good choices started right through space, after all, the Fita Tape gallery, located in front of Roosevelt Plaza, is part of the daily lives of the hundreds, thousands, of people who frequent the spot to skate.

Spread by the gallery André Calvão, Erica Maradona, Fernando Denti, Isabel de Castro, Lucas Cabu, Luis Moschioni, Renato Custódio, Alexandre Velloso, Wallace Costa and Willian Santana brought photography, drawing, poetry, painting, sculpture, video and music. VISÃO LIMITADA

Andar de skate em uma grande cidade é uma das coisas mais normais e legais que

se pode fazer, o skate é nato de cidade grande, de um lugar urbano. Tudo que usamos está nas ruas para ser ocupado.

Só que o skate está muito além de tudo isso também. Chegou também em lugares completamente diferentes da normalidade urbana, da Etiópia até o Alaska e tantos outros lugares que nunca se pensaria a possibilidade de ter alguém andando de skate lá.

Aqui no Brasil é a mesma coisa. Em São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Salvador, Porto Alegre, Curitiba e Brasília é bem normal pensar em picos pra andar de skate, mas o país tem distâncias gigantescas e pouco sabidas da população que vive nos grandes centros. Por exemplo a cena de skate em Manaus, capital do estado do Amazonas, que fica a 3h30 de voo direto de São Paulo, ou seja, bem longe mesmo de avião, e os custos disso complicam mais ainda essa conexão física com o pessoal lá.

Porém existem marcas locais, skatistas profissionais e muita gente andando muito de skate. Exemplos não faltam por todas as outras grandes cidades do norte do Brasil. E foi numa conversa com Adonis Perfeito, um dos skatistas que mais movimenta a cena em Manaus, junto com vários outros locais, que a conversa sobre as “praças de Coari” apareceram.

Como uma cidade a 360 km de Manaus, subindo o Rio Solimões de barco, pois não tem estrada até lá, teria realmente vários picos pra andar de skate mesmo. E aí você sabe como é skatista né? se tem uma história dessa, a vontade de ver pessoalmente é incontrolável, principalmente por ser um lugar bem afastado, literalmente no meio da Amazônia Brasileira, com um acesso restrito, e com quase nada de imagens do lugar na internet, fizeram a vontade e a curiosidade só crescerem.

nunca tenha visto antes, como foi meu caso. Exemplos como o Josyclay e a sua recepção é que deixam orgulhoso de ser skatista a 30 anos. Abriu sua casa e sua família para 10 outros adoradores do skate, curiosissimos pelas praças de Coari.

Daí pra frente foram cinco dias de muito skate, muito calor e muita conversa entre as vivências de todos que estavam ali, principalmente o quanto estávamos todos admirados com as praças e os picos daquela cidade que teria tudo para não ter absolutamente nada de skate, só que ao contrário tinha muita. Incrível também ver que mesmo numa condição tão complexa de logísticas as peças de skate chegam lá de alguma forma, e novamente Josyclay é o responsável. Absolutamente todos os picos que fomos andar, skatistas locais chegavam e começavam a conversar e se animar em saber que não eram os únicos ali, isso também foi uma das sensações mais legais dessa viagem.

Essas nossas sessões de dia e de noite deu uma movimentada no que o skate significa para os moradores da cidade e aparentemente muita coisa está por acontecer por lá, e Josyclay nosso representante local disse que depois que fomos embora até a famosa pista da cidade foi pra frente junto com as autoridades locais que deram um suporte pras sessões que fizemos por lá. Isso foi uma outra coisa interessante, pois estamos acostumados aquele mal humor das pessoas nas grandes cidades em relação a tudo, inclusive skate, porém em Coari foi tudo ao contrário. As pessoas paravam pra ver, aplaudiam, tipo as sessões de skate nas ruas da China, animação e vibe boa total todos os dias.

Combinei com o Adonis essa viagem, ele estava indo gravar umas imagens pro vídeo da Costume, marca de Manaus, comandada pelo próprio com skatistas locais. Nos encontramos em Manaus e no outro dia embarcamos sentido Coari/AM, numa embarcação que subiria o famoso Rio Solimões.

Saí de São Paulo com uma curiosidade louca de conhecer Coari, mas com uma visão limitada em relação ao que encontraria por lá e, na volta, tudo foi o contrário. A vontade de ter uma nova chance de fotografar mais sessões lá e levar outras pessoas para vivenciarem uma realidade brasileira completamente diferente do que achamos ser “normal” no sul do Brasil.

Não só no skate claro, mas na vida como um todo. É o skate sendo a melhor escola da vida como sempre foi e sempre será.

Depois de umas 30hs no barco chegamos a tão esperada Coari, e o skatista local Josyclay Rodrigues nos recebeu daquele jeito que todo skatista recebe outro skatista, tudo em casa, principalmente se

mulecada de Manaus já faz tempo. Apesar de não se achar muitas referências na internet sobre o local, o antigo costume do boca a boca nos assegura que os “boatos” são reais. A Costume está completando um ano e acreditamos que nada melhor do que o próprio skateboard para comemorar e renovar. Coari é o lugar!

Infelizmente por motivos de força maior nem todos do time puderam comparecer, mas os que foram andaram por todos e os que ficaram criaram uma torcida forte. Edmundo Henrique, Thiago Gugu, Diego Bomba, Junio Embaça, PH Dias e Erick Flores chegaram sedentos e nem o sol de 41 graus conseguiu segurar a vontade de andar de skate desses meninos. A receptividade de Coari é um capítulo a parte. Josyclay é o nome do cara do skate na cidade. De uma paz e disposição contagiante, ele faz o skateboard acontecer em uma das regiões mais isoladas do planeta. A cena local é pesada. Não vi um menino que não tivesse nos olhos aquela sede de aprender e disposição para enfrentar os perigos. Fomos e voltamos na mesma paz e tranquilidade dos Rios do Amazonas, cercado de perigos naturais e banhados de satisfação e gratidão. 11 pessoas, 11 redes, 11 skates, 11 mochilas e um só objetivo, SKATEBOARD!!!

Josyclay Como você falou. Depois da vinda da equipe de skate e da Revista Vista em Coari o skate deu uma guinada de uma tal forma que deu até um Incentivo aos skatista locais a andarem mais de skate e se unirem mais em prol do skate. Algumas portas se abriram, como contatos com secretário de esporte e o encarregado de obras da tão sonhada pista de skate da cidade. A divulgação de forma construtiva do skate no município rendeu uns convites para apresentação dos skatistas locais levando cada vez mais a divulgação do skate no município, e isso mostra que mesmo longe dos grandes centros existimos, e ficando cada vez mais forte. Vamos crescer cada vez mais com a construção da pista o nível das manobras crescem junto o skate no todo cresce e vamos de Coari, no interior do Amazonas, para o mundo. Quero aqui deixar meu agradecimento aos skatistas locais que juntos estamos conseguindo manter um skate bem cuidado em Coari. Estarei sempre de portas abertas para receber todos do skateboard que quiserem sair da rotina da cidade grande e se embrenharem no mato e curtir um skate no meio da Amazônia. _____________________________

Skateboarding in a big city is one of the most normal and cool things you can do, the skateboard was born in a big city, an urban place. Everything we use is on the streets to be used. Except that the skate is far beyond all that too. It has also come in completely different places from urban normality, from Ethiopia to Alaska and so many other places that you would never have thought of having someone skateboarding there.

Here in Brazil it’s the same thing. In São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Salvador, Porto Alegre, Curitiba and Brasília, it is quite normal to think of spots for skateboarding, but the country has gigantic distances and unknown places for the population living in the big centers. For example, the skate scene in Manaus, the capital of the state of Amazonas, which is 3:30hs on a direct flight from São Paulo, far even by plane, and the costs of this complicate even more the physical connection with the local skaters.

But there are local brands, professional skaters and a lot of people skateboarding a lot up there. Examples are not a problem for all the other great cities of northern Brazil. And it was in a conversation with Adonis Perfeito, one of the skaters who move the scene in Manaus, along many other local skaters, that the “plazas of Coari” appeared.

How a city 224 miles from Manaus, going up the Solimões river by boat only, because there is no roads up there, it would really have so many spots to skate? And then you know how skaters are, right? if you have a history like this, the will to see in person is uncontrollable, mainly because it is a very far from any place, literally in the middle of the Brazilian Amazon, with a restricted access, and with almost no images of the place on the internet, making the will and the curiosity only grow.

Adonis and I organized this trip, he was going to film some video for the Costume video, a brand from Manaus, commanded by himself with local skaters. We met in Manaus and the next day we embarked towards Coari / AM, in a boat that would ascend the famous Solimões River for Two days deep in the Amazon.

After about 30 hours on the boat we arrived at the long-awaited Coari, and the local skateboarder Josyclay Rodrigues received us like that every skateboarder receives another skateboarder, especially if he has never seen it before, as was my case, always welcome. Examples like Josyclay and his reception make me proud to be a skateboarder for 30 years.

He opened his house and his family to eleven other skateboarders, curious about Coari’s plazas.

From then on there were five days of skateboarding, a lot of heat weather and a lot of talk between the experiences of everyone there, especially how we were all amazed at the plazas and spots of that city that would have everything to have absolutely nothing to skate, but was actually quite the opposite, had much. Incredible to see that even in such a complex logistics situation the skateboard supplies arrive there somehow, and again Josyclay is responsible. Absolutely every spot we went to, local skaters arrived and started talking and getting excited to know that they were not the only ones there, that was also one of the coolest sensations of this trip.

These day and night sessions made a movement on the local scene, about what skateboarding is all about, the city and average people were excited to see what’s going to happen there, and Josyclay our local representative said that after we left until the famous city skatepark was mentioned by the local authorities, who also gave some support for the sessions on those days. That was another interesting thing, as we are accustomed to be the “bad guys” for the people in the big cities in relation to everything, including skateboarding, but in Coari it was all the other way around. People would stop to watch, cheer, kind of skateboarding in the streets of China, animation and good vibe every day.

I left Sao Paulo with a crazy curiosity to meet Coari, but with a limited view of what I would find there, and when I returned to São Paulo, everything was the opposite, the desire to have a new chance to photograph more sessions there and take others to experience a Brazilian reality completely different from what we think is “normal” in southern Brazil, not only in skateboard but in life as a whole.

It’s skateboarding being the best school in life as it always was and always will be.

“Coari is an old friend of manauara skateboarders. The fame of the spots and the receptivity there make a dream on the skaters of Manaus for a long time. Although we do not find many references on the internet about the place, the old custom of word of mouth assures us that the “rumors” are real. The brand Costume is completing a year and we believe that nothing better than the skateboard itself to celebrate and renew ebergy. Coari is the place!

Unfortunately for reasons of majeure force not all of the team could attend, but those who were skate, did it by all and those that remained created a strong crowd. Edmundo Henrique, Thiago Gugu, Diego Bomba, Junio ​​Embaça, PH Dias and Erick Flores arrived thirsty and not even the 106ºF degree heat managed to change the desire to skate from those boys. Coari’s receptivity is a chapter itself. Josyclay is the name of the skateboard there in town. Full of peace and contagious disposition, he makes the skateboard happen in one of the most isolated regions of the planet. The local scene is heavy. I did not see a boy who had no thirst for learning and willingness to face the dangers. We went and returned in the same peace and tranquility of the Amazon Rivers, surrounded by natural hazards and bathed in satisfaction and gratitude. 11 people, 11 hammocks, 11 skateboards, 11 backpacks and a single goal, to SKATEBOARD” - Adonis Perfeito “Like you said, after the advent of the skate team and the Vista Magazine in Coari, the skate took a turn in such a way, a huge incentive to the local skaters to skate more and get more together in favor of skateboarding. Some doors opened as contacts with sports secretary and the person in charge of the so dreamed skatepark of the city. The constructive disclosure of the skateboard in the municipality, gave some invitations for presentation of the local skaters taking more and more the disclosure of the skateboard in the municipality, and this shows that even far from the great centers we exist, and getting stronger and stronger. We will grow more and more with the construction of the skate park the level of the tricks will grow together with the skateboard so we can go from Coari, in the interior of the Amazon, to the world.
