Summer is a magnificent time to be in Zagreb. The warmer weather is delightful, bathing our beautiful city in sunlight and drawing crowds from far and wide. Longer days mean more opportunities to embrace the city. The summer events schedule is packed with ways to get out and soak up that magic, from the gorgeous courtyards on show during Dvorišta (The Courtyards) to the exciting street art of Okolo (Around) and beyond.
Open air festival Zagreb Classic is summer culture at its most marvellous, and the ‘Heavenly sounds under open skies’ tagline sets the scene. The combination of exquisite melodies and beautiful surroundings is unmatched. On the more competitive side of things, many sporting events are taking place this summer. The IJF Grand Prix will see judokas from around the world compete for precious points ahead of next year’s Summer Olympics in Paris.
Zagreb is an inspiring city, whatever the weather, but summer is on another level entirely. Head up to the newly-opened observation deck on Sljeme for unbeatable views of the city (why not take part in the epic Highlander hiking event while you are up there?) before returning to the city to enjoy music, art, history, culture, sports, and so much more. Add the city’s magnificent roster of parks, cafes, restaurants and bars, and you have all the ingredients for a summer to remember.
