the long-awaited second exhibition, Vlaho Bukovac in Europe, commemorates the 100th anniversary of bukovac’s passing. the focus of the exhibition is on his private life and the development of his zagreb oeuvre. this is the time when he became the central figure of cultural life, and thus influenced a whole generation of zagreb painters, known as the zagreb school. this is also considered his most fruitful artistic period and it is thanks to him that zagreb has become a centre for artistic events. the exhibition also includes periods he spent in cavtat and vienna. Many documentary and archival materials are displayed, as well as some of his previously unknown works from private collections.

Founded in 1952, this was the first museum dedicated to Naïve art in the world. the exhibition features the works of the croatian naïve art classics, independent naïve artists and foreign artists. The first exhibition room is dedicated to the works of ivan rabuzin whose 100th birth anniversary was celebrated last year.

The construction of the first telephone line in zagreb began in 1881, only 5 years after its patenting in the usa. the most representative items that vividly illustrate the changes in technical development of telephony from its first appearance in Zagreb to the present day have been chosen from the nikola tesla technical Museum and the Ht Museum collections.

the most successful and most popular work of Jakov gotovac, the comic opera ‘ero the Joker’, is considered one of the most successful slavic comic operas and an ode to the rural way of life. since its premiere at the croatian national theatre in zagreb in 1935, it has seldom been absent from the repertoire of croatian theatres.

this is a unique exhibition that showcases the early works of one of the most famous artists of all times – gustav Klimt. after 113 years, the paintings were dismantled from the vault of the rijeka theatre to be restored and exclusively displayed in the newly renovated 18th century palace, which is now housing the Municipal Museum of rijeka. in 2022 these precious works are coming to zagreb!
