Welcome to Country shows respect for the land’s Traditional Owners and allows Indigenous Elders to welcome you as visitors. ‘Country’ is the land that a people group belongs to and their connection to the place through ancestry and belonging.

A traditional ceremony, the Welcome to Country grants safe passage and usually occurs at the beginning of an event. It may involve a speech, song, dance or a smoking ceremony, which is an ancient and sacred Aboriginal custom that uses smoke from smouldering native plants to cleanse people, places, and objects, ward off bad spirits, promote well-being, and create pathways for a brighter future.

In April 2025, Melbourne hosted the Amway China 30th Anniversary Leadership Summit – the largest incentive program to ever visit Australia.

The event, which included 16,000 delegates across six waves, showcased Melbourne and Victoria’s ability to host large-scale events with complex logistics, including 17 bespoke itineraries that provided unique event experiences for delegates in the city and beyond.

EXPLORING THE BEST OF THE CITY AND THE REGIONS

Amway China delegates were given a range of exciting itineraries to choose from, with each program capturing the best of Melbourne and Victoria.

City-based experiences showcased the essence of Melbourne’s dynamic culture, including tours of the National Gallery of Victoria, coffee workshops in the city’s famous cafes, shopping trips to Chadstone, and visits to iconic Melbourne landmarks including the State Library of Victoria, Melbourne Skydeck, Flinders Street Station and Hosier Lane.

The closeness of Melbourne city centre to the regions allowed delegates to experience many different environments and experiences in less than a twohour drive from their hotel. Trips to the Victorian regions included some much-loved activities and destinations such as Phillip Island Nature Park, the Twelve Apostles, Healesville Sanctuary, Sovereign Hill, and Puffing Billy steam train.
